they test your hormone levels to make sure they're coming down as they should as sometimes there can be a small amount of tissue left inside you which the scan doesn't pick up. It can sometimes cause an infection if there is a little left behind but you shouldn't worry unless you have a fever or a smelly discharge, just keep an eye on things. My hospital didn't bother with me even though the scan showed there was a small amount of tissue remaining and I didn't end up with an infection. A word of warning if you're trying again straight away though, I did a hpt a few weeks after my last m/c and got a BFP, thought I'd fallen again without having a period but it was leftover hormones from the m/c, so disappointing when AF arrived. Some women find it useful to test with hpt's until they get a negative, just to be sure it's all gone and avoid any confusion, wish I'd known that at the time cos it would have saved me getting my hopes up. Hope that answers your question, message anytime if I can help with anything.
Lotsa love, Clare xxx
