"Hcg levels"
Posted by aheath1990 13 June  at  00:22

I am around 8 weeks pregnant and I had some bleeding so I went into hospital for tests. They took some blood and some internal swabs from me and when the results from the bloods came back, it said that my HCG levels were over 10,000. They asked me to go back on Monday for a scan but no one explained to me why! I am really worried about what this means and I hope someone could help me out on what this is about!!!

Thanks in advance!

I'm obviously not a doctor but your HCG levels sound good to me, mine were very low when I had my miscarriages, less than 100. I would think the scan is just to check everything is ok, bleeding in early pregnancy should always be checked out so that sounds fairly routine to me. They really should have explained to you what was happening though, not fair of them to leave you guessing but am afraid that's pretty common too, think they see so many women with bleeding they forget how upsetting and confusing it all is for us and we're in too much of a state to ask. Hope all goes well on Monday, let us know how you get on and don't be afraid to ask on here if there's anything you want to know, we've all been there and the girls on here are fantastic.

Lotsa love,

Thanks to replying to my message. I called the hospital back earlier today while I was in a better state of mind and the nurse just told me that she didn't have a crystal ball and couldn't tell me what high HCG levels were!!! I was disgusted at this! Thanks for shedding some light on the situation for me though. It is much apreciated!

Your not under Kings Mill Hospital by any chance are you? Your nurse sounds VERY familiar to the ones I had during my m/c Totally disgusting attitude to use when you're speaking to a worried mum to be!

Your HCG level drops during a m/c but your levels sound very high, try not to worry too much & let us know how your scan goes. I wish you all the luck in the world :~)

Hi there,

I'm only 5 weeks but i had lots of worries just after i found out, had period type pains and felt so anxious, but i had blood tests and my hcg levels went from 564 to 1366 in 2 days. They said that very early on the levels double every few days so 10,000 sounds good! The nurse sounds very unhelpful tho, maybe try visiting your GP?

Good luck with it all
