hi!
i found out last wednesday 16th july that id had a missed miscarriage. i had a D&C on friday the 18th of july and i was never given any advice about how long to wait to start to try for another baby. can anybody please answer this question because this is something i want to discuss with my husband as soon as we can face it after out loss.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
I had an incomplete m/c at 7wks and opted for ERPC after a few more weeks of waiting.

I was told that I could try again as soon as I wanted and I would only get pregnant if my body was ready for it. I was also told there is no increased risk if you get BFP again straight away. But that I should wait until the bleeding had stopped due to risk of infection.

I did try again straight away (2 weeks after op) but found the ttc experience quite difficult to cope with while my cycle was still v irregular due to my body recovering.

Some docs say wait 1 cycle but that's really only so they can date your next pregnancy more easily.

It's entirely your choice. Try again wheen you feel physically and emotionally ready.

Although it's probably of little comfort - I'm so sorry that you lost your lo, it's so unfair.

I had a missed m/c too and only found out at 13wks (scan) that my lo had passed at 8+4 but my body had held on. My m/c was natural like Claire's and although I didn't want to ttc again straight away, I was told that they suggest you wait until the bleeding has stopped and that if you can wait for one period it helps with dating the next pg.
I think, like Claire you just go for it whenever you feel ready love, you know yourself when the time's right.

thank you both so much for your kind words. i think what makes it a little tougher for me too is that i have 2 little girls 9yrs and 2yrs and they were 2 perfectly healthy pregnancies so i never thought it would happen to me and i know what im missing in the future. there is no history of it in my family so i have nobody to talk to who understands what im going through. they have all been so helpfull but its so good to chat to someone who knows just what its like. i was looking on another board and there was a woman who had 7 miscarriages in 10yrs so i cant begin to understand her pain. im lucky that i have my 2 daughters when there are so many women who have m/c on their 1st baby they must feel so cheated. i hope that your stories have a happy ending and again thank you for your kind words.

so sorry to hear about your loss hun, it does take time to get your head around what's happened but you will get there so don't lose hope. The medical advice about trying again seems to vary massively, some docs will tell you to wait 3 cycles, some say 1 and some will say it's fine to try again straight away. I've had 3 miscarriages but they were all natural and didn't need a D&C but I think after the op you're probably best to wait til you've had at least one period just to give your body a chance to fully recover. A lot depends on how you feel both physically and mentally and I think you know yourself when you feel ready so go with your instincts.
