Erpc a week ago and waiting for results of test for molar pregnancy
Hi, sorry to make my first post a long one but I have really been struggling to find somwhere to talk to people about what is going on for us at the moment.
Last Monday we went for an early scan (at 8+5) after some slight spotting to discover that our pregnancy had failed. When the midwife came to tell us more about it she explained that the scan results were inconclusive and that the sonographer thought it could be one of two things. The first was something to do with hydra something and the other was molar pregnancy.
The midwife explained that they would need to test my HCG levels that day and may need to perform and ERPC if the level was high. She also said not to look on the internet about molar pregnancy because we would scare ourselves. I had the ERPC on Wednesday and, so far as I know, the "products" were sent to Charing Cross for histology. Effectively molar pregnancy was never really a pregnancy and requires follow up if your HCG levels do not regulate themselves. I don't want to go in to full details as I don't want to upset anyone but it can mean no TTC for 2 years.
We had to go back to the hosptial today for a blood test and, thankfully, this showed that my HCG levels had gone from 72,800 to 2,800 which is the right direction. We have also been told that the histology results should be back within the next few days (which is better than the 5-6 weeks that we were given to begin with) but I just don't know how to feel.
The thing is, it it is this molar pregnancy then it will possibly require follow up treatment and a long wait to try again and I just don't want to get my hopes up that this massive reduction in HCG levels is good news that it wasn't a molar and then come crashing down to earth when we get the results.
We have found a forum for people who do have molars but nowhere can I find anyone who had the tests but was negative and feel like that forum isn't for me until I have a diagnosis.
If there is anyone out there who understands, I would love to hear from you.
Thank you
