Hi there, i also had a miscarriage at 8 weeks pregnant in 2003, they also advised me to wait a couple of months before trying again, but shortly after we did try again and i got pregnant for the second time, this did not go aswell as planned eather, as we had a stillbirth the second time around, due to placental failiur there was a bloodclot in the placenter, so we tried again in 2004, and now i have a beautifull son who is 4 in august, i call him my miracle baby, im just petrifide of losing the baby i am carrying, i have just found out i am 5 weeks pregnant, im not sure why they advise you not to get pregnant so soon after losing a baby, i think its just so your body can re energise itself, afterall the baby does take alot from the mother, hope this will help you in some way, you are not alone, many thanks for reading this, miss zoe joines, blackpool england

Hi,
I just wondered if anyone had got pregnant straight after a miscarriage. I was told to wait a couple of months. No explaination why I should as the midwife I seen afterwards did not even seem to want to speak to me.
I just wondered if anyone else had got pregnant without having a period after they had miscarried.
Any replies or advice would be most appreciated.
Thanks

I was 10 weeks on the 21st August 2008 when I went for my scan and was told that my baby had died. I chose to have a natural m/c and the pain and trauma my partner and I are going through is immense.Im aching to try again but my partner is not willing just yet.The hospital advises to wait until next period but its so difficult not to try before that. Only us ladies know our own bodies so to anybody that feels ready I wish you all the best. God is with us all.xxxxx

Hi, I had a miscarriage on 21st of June this year. I was 6 weeks 1day pregnant. It happened whilst I was on holiday in Dubai & took 6 days to come away from me. Saw the specialist in hospital who advised me to start trying straight away. She explianed I would probably be advised when i got bak to UK to wait until 1 mentstrual period as this would help with due dates. She said that's not that important because we can scan for dates. When I got back to UK I went for a scan to check it had all came away from me, luckily it had, the consultant confirmed what the Dr in Dubai had said, she also mentioned I was about to ovulate from my left ovary, That was on the Tuesday, by the Saturday of the same week i got a positve reading on my ovulation test. We did the deed twice on the Sunday & my expected period date is now 5 days late. Ive just had a posite reading on a pregnancy test....2 infact as I didnt believe the first!! I havent had a period since my miscarriage, this would mean I conceived 2-3 wks after the miscarriage. Hope all this helps. I felt like I became obsessed about it all it takes over ur life. So fingers crossed this time. It's hard to be happy coz ov the fear Gud luck xx

Hi There, You have given me a lot of hope after reading your message. I was told 5 wks ago my babys heart had stopped beating at my 10wk scan. I took the natural option first to allow it to pass after two weeks we had returned for our follow up scan & it was evident the pregnancy was still in my womb. I took the pessary choice last Tuesday & have just passed my baby early on this evening. It has taken 4wks from the time we were told our sad news but I am glad we were in our own home together as we ould say our goodbyes together on our own & have buried our angel in a special place. I have been reading peoples stories on here for just over a week now & found it has helped me in my greiving proces then when I read your story it gave me some hope that we can try again. Our angel will never be replaced but its good tp feel hope that we can try again. Good luck with this pregnancy & Thanks for your words. Sara

Hi, I recently had a m/c on July 18th and stopped bleeding and my HCG levels measuredd 15 yesterday. My doctor thinks that they will be below 5 in a week so that is when ive decided im going to start trying. If its meant to be then itll happen and i personally dont think i can wait for a fresh cycle. Good luck to all of u who are trying straight after a m/c. Stay positive, look after urself and leave the rest up to God.

Hi in reply to ur Post am 22 i had a stillbirth at 42 YES 42 weeks with my daughter (1st baby) on 3rd july 2007 and i feel pregnant less than 10wks later without a period with my 2nd baby and Miscarried at 12wks on the 30th Nov 07 and now today 22nd June 2wks to my daughters 1st annivesary i found out i am expecting for the 3rd time i waited 6mths before trying again as i was also advised by the midwifes that to get my body back to normal after all i had gone through , that if i got pregnany too soon my body may not be able to cope with it and i risked miscarrying early on again
i would like to say am sorry for your loss but even to just put ur mind at ease give yourself a chance to have maybe 2 regualar periods , it may Make you feel better and not stressing as much if you do
Best of luck for the future and wish u all the happiness in the world Pauline

I had a miscarriage in March. I was nearly 12 weeks pregnant when i started to spot bleed. It was a Friday evening and my husband and i went straight to a&e, we were told that the early pregnancy unit was only open from Mon-Fri so i couldnt have a scan until then. I was told to monitor the bleeding and go home and rest. This was agonizing as we just didnt know what was going to happen,we read alot on the net and our hopes were raised and then dashed constantly over the next few days. Finaly Monday came and i had my scan only to be told that it was bad news and that my baby had stoped growing at 6 weeks, i was given a choice of wether to have a d n c or to go home and miscarry. I chose to go home and the miscarriage started the next day. I was not prepared for how tramatic and painfull it would be or for how much blood i would loose. I had to go back to the hospital on a few occasions for more scans to make sure there were no clots left. I had one normal period and on my final scan the midwife told me i was ovulating and to go home and get cracking if i felt ready. I fell pregnant straight away and my partner and i are over the moon but very scared that the same thing is going to happen again. This Friday i experianced some light bleeding and imediatly paniced and went to a&e only to be told that once again it was a weekend and a bank holiday and to come back for a scan on tues. I have just had my scan and not alot could be sean as its so early on. So the tension, hope, dread and excitment goes on. Iam taking things one day at a time and trying to remain posotive. I would like to wish every one out there who has had the same experiances all the luck in the world.Talking it through keeps you strong.

hi, i had a misscarraige in march and had to have a d&c. i then found out that i was pregnant a couple of weeks later. i went to my doctor and i said i was having bad pains and was wondering if it was because of the m/c or maybe i was pregnant. so he sorted out a blood test to eliminate the easyest option first. i only said i was having pains as i thought the doctor would say i was being silly. i do know tho that you are most fertile after a m/c or after giving birth so it is a good posibility that you are pregnant.
hope that helps a bit.
sam xxxx p.s please tell me if my message was helpfull

i m/c 7 weeks ago i started ttc straight away well a week after once bleedin had stopped. i got my period 6 weeks to the day from start of leedin wit m/c. i was gutted but i think its also good give the womb another flush thru. it was as bad as every one says i had no pain, wasnt very heavy and it only lasted for 5 days!!
i read on alot of forums that docs say periods return usually between 6 and 8 weeks after m/c if that answers any questions?
good luck keep trying girls, fate will decide but it will be our turn soon!!
hugs to all xx

Hi
I was in your shoes as i misscarried 5weeks ago and all the doctors told me the same as they are telling you, the only reason they tell you that is so you get regular periods and when you do fall pregnant its easier to work out dates.
I didnt wait as we where really keen to start trying again and 4weeks after my misscarriage i have found out that i am pregnant, so fingers crossed this time
And the best of luck to you, i think that if you ready to start trying then you should also you are more firtile after being pregnant so its the best time to try
Hope that you have found this abit helpful. x

| | "Hi can u be pregnant after m/c even with having no period?" Posted by simoner2 13 July at 19:49
Hi your message has just struck a chord with me, so I hope you don't mind me asking you a question?
I miscarried at 12 weeks and had my d & c just 4 weeks ago. After feeling somewhat sensitive, I decided to do a test even tho I have not have a period yet.(as recommended) 2 tests came back positive over 2 days. Therefore, is it more likely that it is a pregnancy or just HGC levels playing havoc?
I was so pleased to see that you have had a similar experience and hope that all is well with your pregnancy.

I had a miscarriage back in November, and I just recently found out that I'm pregnant again. So it only took me a little less than 3 months and I didn't have my period. It stopped the first time I was pregnant too, but everyone is different. So, depending on your body your period may stop right away or it may take a few months before it does stop. My doctor did advise me to wait a couple months after the miscarriage. It gives your body time to heal and hopefully by waiting it will improve your chances of having a successful pregnancy the 2nd time. Good luck to you.

I WAS THE SAME I FEL PREGNANT EARLY APRIL BUT MISSCARRIED EARLY MAY, BASICALLY AFTER THREE WEEKS AROUND BEGGINING OF JUNE I CONCIEVED AGAIN, HOWEVER MY PARTNER TOLD ME LAST NIGHT THAT THIS IS DANGEROUS AND COULD AFFECT THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE BABY, APPARENTLY THIS IS WHAT HE HEARD, I AM NOW VERY WORRIED AS I AM ONLY 9 WEEKS AND COUNTING EVERY DAY UNTIL I PASS THIS DANGER ZONE BUT HOW WILL I KNOW IF THEIR IS GOING TO BE ANYTHING WRONG? LIKE YOU I AM NOW CONFUSED...

| | "Hi" Posted by jane052 21 August at 19:25
Hi,
Since I have posted this thread I have looked into this and the reason that people say to not try straight away after m/c is for dating purposes only.
There is no reason that there should be a problem with your babies development. If you are really worried please go and discuss with your GP as you really do not need stressing out at the moment.
I am now 35 days since my m/c started and 12 days past ovulation. Still not had a period but the test I did a couple of days ago was negative.
Do you know how long after you concieved you got a positive pregnancy test.
Fingers crossed for you this time but sure you will be fine.

| | "My period came" Posted by reesy 30 July at 12:13
Not good news girls, my period came, regular as clockwork this morning. I'm gutted but at least I know we can start a fresh and everything's in order to try again this month. I'm holding on to the fact that if we're successful this month, today would be classed as the first`day of my pregnancy.
I know it is possible to to catch without a period, my friend just did, so stay hopeful and dont let it become you're life, everyone tells me if you relax about the whole thing it just happens. (easier said than done though huh?).
Back to square one tho for now. I'll keep you all posted.
Good luck ladies.

| | "I am sorry" Posted by jane052 30 July at 19:57
Hi Sarah,
I am sorry I can imagine how disappointed you must be. I am dreading my period coming this month after the miscarriage. Just keep thinking that I would have been 7 weeks pregnant today.
I have been doing ov sticks but not had a surge yet, had some cramps and a some white and clear discharge but have no idea what that is.
Keep me informed and hopefully will not be too long for us both.

| | "Ovulating" Posted by siddie1 30 July at 21:47
Hiya Jane just reading through the boards messages, that discharge is usually an indication u will ovulate in a couple of days. If its a thick egg-white/stringy discharge....Its like a plug to allow the sperm to swim through. Hope this helps, I used an ovulation kit from Asda it was only £8.64. I got that discharge on the Friday an the Ov test was negative, done it Sat and it was positive, that usually means ur egg will be released in 24-36 hrs. It worked for me i've just had a positive pregnancy test.I had a miscarriage on 21st of June so basically got caught straight away, Tryin to stay positive that this will be a healthy pregnancy, but every feelin in my stomach terrifies me
Gud luck xxxxx

| | "Not tried them" Posted by reesy 30 July at 21:06
Hello Jane,
I am dissapointed, in fact I was totally gutted first thing this morning but I'm trying to stay focussed. I would have been 9 weeks, it's really hard isnt it?
I've not tried the ov sticks. I've plotted my cycle on an ovulation chart and I keep tabs on my cm which is a fantastic indicator as to where you are, basically when it resembles raw egg white (sorry if tmi), it's all systems go. It worked a treat for me last time.
Anyway, let me know how you get on, fingers crossed we ghave some much needed luck soon.
Sarah. x
