i did say that i wouldnt post on here again but i just wanted to have a quick read of the messages 2day and felt that i had to reply to u. It is PERFECTLY FINE to act how u want to and that includes crying. I was awake through mine (2 weeks ago - feels alot longer than that though) i sang nursery rhymes through mine(!!!)

I dont wanna scare u or put u off or anything like that but it is horrible being awake through it, i know that my case isn't the same as most people's (there were complications during mine) but u do know what is happening to u and if i had my time again i would probably have an anaesethic.

Can i ask: how far are you? and how come u gonna be awake?
I know that u probably sick of hearing this but u have to be sure its what u want and i am here if you wanna talk/need advice/ask questions (i was sick to death of hearing people say that to me in the run up to mine but it did help to have people there who had been through it) xx

thank you for your reply, i will be 10wks and 2days when i have it.(Wednesday) i was never given the option of being put to sleep, i was just told i would be awake. i think thats going to be the worst part of it. ive read story's of how people saw the baby etc going up through the tube. i already have 3 children 2where from my last partner and my 3rd is nearly 5months old. my new partner is really good with her but works a lot so im on my own a lot of the time. it just wouldnt be right to have anougher one now. im just worried ill act like a fool when there doing it. and really dont know how im going to feel once its gone x

I really feel for you hun, this is not an easy time and there is so much pressure.

I doubt hospitals would allow the women to see the foetus as this could really do damage psychologically which the hospital would not like to take the blame for. I would imagine they are horror stories more then anything.

I know you were not offered a General but could you ask for one? The recovery time is about the same I think.

It really is much more peaceful for you that way.

Where are you having it done? Have you looked in to it, looked them up on the web or been given information about them? They might offer a General and you have not been advised.

I feel that you mind is made up and that is fine .. just remember that you have up until the moment they start the op to pull out.

You know what is right for you.

I wish you all the best. xxxxx

Hi hun,

You dont sound so sure of your decision. You know its going to be pretty awful, the procedure itself, you already plan to cry your way through it. As a mum you know what is involved in being pregnant. You know you have just a few days to go before your baby is fully formed, just tiny, but complete.

Can I just urge you to reconsider your decision and try to work out a way to keep your baby? I know this is easy for me to say, but there is always a way to keep your baby if you look deep enough.

I wish you lots of strength and calm up until next Wednesday, and know that you can change your mind right up until the last SECOND. It happens all the time so dont worry.

Take care of yourself and your dear children.

dont see why you gotta be awake. u having it done on the nhs? what kind u booked in for, a d&c?

and u dont necessarily have to see anything.. where did u read that??? and if you can see 'things' u can always close your eyes as a last resort.

It dont matter if u act like a fool, act however u want. i think at one point i threatened to castrate every man alive so dont worry about it. the staff have seen it all before: they understand how hard it is and just try to put you at ease.

As for your reasons for doing it and how you'll feel after...just be sure its what u want and you can change your mind right up until the end xxx

Do ask them if you can be asleep hun.

I was with mine and it was very peaceful there and the care and support was great and very supportive x
