wow, bit of a thing, this life we live in hey, don't think any of us could go through it without getting a curve ball thrown at us however I must say that the curve ball you have received is one that will bring blessing and joy into your life beyond anything you could ever have imagined! thing is that there are no real guarantees in this life for us, we simply have to decide to make the best out of any situation we happen to be in. the reasons you have listed for an abortion are your bf and your parents worry over the length of time you have been in a relationship with your bf. trust me, as worried as you feel now, there are people who would love to trade places with you!! even if we imagine the worst and your parents freak out over this-trust me, they will come around the second they see their beautiful little grandchild, and you will have trouble prying your angel out of their arms I know, cause I've been there. my mom and the babys dads mom both freaked out when they found out I was pregnant but they came around real quick and soon were buying baby clothes, and telling the whole town they were going to be grandma's. trust me, speak to your parent's, they might surprise you. YOur bf isn't dead set against this baby so once again you are way ahead of many other women in this situation, you said he's been great about it,and he has a son, so he's been down this road b4.trust me, when you start getting a tummy, he wont be able to stop rubbing it or talking to it (nor will you) If you have been broody, then you will appreciate this baby 100 times more as you have a longing for it. When you hold the little angel that is growing inside of you right now in your arms for the very first time, you will never imagine that these emails or these thoughts ever happend cause you can't imagine for one moment the thought of ever being away from your baby, all the best to you, louise, thinking of you

Whole thread for the following message:
| Thread started by: | "Scared and unsure!!!" Posted by louise3100 29 January at 03:40
Hi every1,I have just had my pregnancy confirmed by the doctor 2day.A wk after my 1st test and all I can say is I am in alot of shock,it doesnt quite sink in until u hear it from someone else.I have yet to make an appointment to go and see my GP which I will do tomorrow but I really am unsure what it is I want 2 do.
I cant be that far on,as January is the 1st period I have missed. I have been going out with the dad since the middle of Novemeber so it has not been long at all. He has been great with everything since telling him on Wed.
The main reasons I am scared of keeping it are that he already has a son who is 1 and I feel that not being together for very long could end in tears 4 me and bringing the child up on my own,I am also frightned of what my parents will think due to the little time I have been with the father. I am 22 and still live at home, working full time for a travel company and have always wanted kids. Many of my friends have little 1s and lets just say I have been broody.
Part of me thinks abortion is the only way to solve matters but the other part of me is saying no,I cant go through with an abortion.
Can any1 give me a bit of much needed advice/thoughts on what I should do.
Thankyou
Louise

Hi Louise,
So you are still pretty shocked i guess, but reading your posts there does not seem to be any HUGE reason why you cannot have your baby. Sure your parents probably wont be jumping up and down with pleasure when you first announce you are pregnant, you are just going to have to tell em somehow....I'm sure you are not looking forward to that one. I am sure however that as soon as you have your child they will love him or her to bits. Grandparents are just like that...
As for bringing your child up on your own, well that can happen to anyone. Even if you know your partner for years and are married with kids the relationship may not work out. There are really no guarantees in this life. It takes so much sacrifice to make a relationship work.
No matter what happens though you will have your child to love. I know you are still in shock, but if you can relax a little and take care of yourself health-wise (eating properly, resting lots, I am sure you are very tired these days...) and let yourself fall in love with the little life growing inside of you then you will get a different perspective.
What I see so much on this forum is that one abortion leads to another and then maybe another again. I dont know why this is, but the statistics bear this out aswell. How much heartache can you take?
Dear Lousie, one thing is sure, having your baby will lead to tears, but they will be tears of joy when you see your baby's squishy little face for the first time.

ive just read your story and its sounds familiar to me. i was 23 when i found out i was pregnant with my daughter i had been with my boyfriend for 6 weeks, we both still lived at home and he was in £6000 worth of debt. we both knew we wanted the baby and so we put our minds and our money together and by the time our little girl was born we had paid the debt and bought a house. im not going to lie it wasnt easy but we did it. that was nearly 6 years ago and we are now married with another little girl and a beautiful new home.
i just wanted to share that with you so that you know with love and hard work it can be done. good luck with whatever you decide to do

Just want to say thanks to you all for taking the time to reply to me,has made me think even more carefully reading your replies.
To tell you the truth sum of your messages brought a tear to my eye,im still in work at the moment and have been getting on with things.
I still have until Monday to decide when I will see my GP again and have to decide whether to go ahead with an abortion or keep my baby.
Kerry how did your boyfriend react after only being toegether for such a short time? I am a bit worried as my boyfriend already has a child to 1 to his ex's. He is a fantastic little boy.
My main reasons for having a termination would be him and being on my own but I guess that could happen anyway however long you have been in a relationship.
I also dont want to put alot of pressure on my boyfriend although he has said he will support me either way. All he has said though is that he would prefer if I did have a termination but will support me if i decide to keep it.
I guess he is just worried about us as a relationship aswell and obviously the financial burden of another wee 1.
I am still so undecided need to think quickly.

when i told my boyfriend that we were having a baby he just stared at me for ages and then put his head in his hands. I was dreading what he'd say next but when he lifted his head he just said "right lets get the debt paid off and go from there" your boyfriend sounds wonderful and very supportive. babies are hard work and expensive but the feeling of love and joy they give you is worth soooo much more. the struggle in the begining made us so strong we are a great team and im sure you and your boyfriend will be too. good luck making your decision. feel free to pm me any time kerry xxx
