Seven days late & negative pregnancy tests - please help

Hi, this is my first time on this site. I am 25 and came off the pill in May and my husband and I have been trying for a baby since then. I didn;t expect to fall pregnant straight away as I know it takes time for the pill to work its way out of the body. I have always had regular periods (since the age of 12 every 28 days). When I came off the pill my first period was 28 days then my next was 27 then 31, then 27 and now I am 7 days late. I have done two pregnancy tests (curiosity got the better of me), but both have been negative. I am very scared and confused in case there is something more serious going on. I have always been so regular. I don't feel like I will have my period I usually have all the typical symptons and the only pregnancy symptons I have is more frequent loo visits and I do have an increased apetite but then don't actually fancy/or enjoy what I'm eating. Please can someone help to try and put my mind at rest. Pregnancy tests are so reliable and my friends who have children did test almost straight away and found they were pregnant. My husband and I have been married for four years and now feel the time is right to start a family, but the disappointment every month is becoming unbearable. Please help me. Thanks

Just keeping you posted, i went to the doctors yesterday (now 18 days late) and they said that its possible that I have just missed a period this month for no apparent reason. She suggested that I wait and see if I get my October period and if not then do another test and go back either way. It really is a waiting game!! Just wish I knew what was going on! Have been having stomach cramps today as if period on its way, will have to wait and see what happens?!

know how you feel..I was 12 days late last month..really had it in my head that I might have been pregers if it hadn't been for the 2 BFN's i got on the day my AF was due! So waited very patiently to day 12 late and did another test..another BFN..then AF comes that night! Gutted! Sometimes I think the brain has someting to do with trigger'n it..it was def play'n tricks on me!

Hi girls, thanks for your messages. Well, at least I dont have to wait anymore as I came on yesterday. Feeling a bit sorry for myself but at least the waitings over now! Will have to try harder next month!! Good luck to both of you too, keep in touch xx

Hi Shell283, sorry to hear that your doctor could not put your mind at rest, its easy for everyone to say wait and see but the waiting game is difficult if its you who is doing the waiting. Not this month

Hi Guys - Jo here. (who posted the first message). Unfortunately for me I came on this morning. That makes this cycle 36 days as opposed to my usual 27. Was a little bit disappointed as had kind of thought it was a possibility that I could be pregnant and allowed myself to get a little bit excited. My husband was great his solution is 'oh well, we will just have to try harder next time' - What a typical bloke. On the other hand I was relieved to come on as due to the negative pregnancy test I did begin to think something could be wrong. i have exactly the same problem!! me and my boyfriend started trying around june time and i am now over 3 weeks late. i have done 3 tests and there all negative and we went to the doctor and he said its quite common for tests to show negative when you are actually pregnant!! and that if iv not come on in 2 more weeks go back and they will do a blood test. i was exactly the same as u tho hun i was thinking something was seriously wrong!!!!! i wee alot any way and i have irritable bowels so im always changin, like i may be consipated one day and running freely the next (lol couldnt think of a nice way to put it!!) i know how you feel though the next 2 weeks will be agony waiting!!!! xxxx

Same problem!

Hi, this is my first time on here too and I'm in pretty much the same situation as you. I came off the pill in January and my husband and I have been trying since then. My period was due on 21 Sept (so I'm 2 weeks late now) and this is the first time i have EVER been late! I took 4 tests in the first 10 days and they all came back negative. Other than the late period i dont really have any other symptoms of pregnancy so cant understand whats going on? I went to see my GP on Monday who told me that home tests are very reliable and to leave it another week to see what happens. If I still test negative he told me to make another appointment. He also said the late period might be down to stress but I dont feel as though I was worrying about it that much. Like you, I'm wondering if I'm not pregnant then is something else wrong? Its nice to know that I'm not the only one going through this. Please let me know what happens x

Hello, also first time!! we have been trying since january too, no luck. I am 7 days late tomorrow, have been having periods every 28 days for the last 3 months and the longest over the last nine months has been 33. Done 2 tests all after 28 days and both negative! Been feeling like i am getting a period for at least 10 days now and it comes and goes. No other symptoms though!! Can't understand it!! Does anyone know of anybody that has actually been pregnant and had a negative test? X

7 days late and going mad!

my first time on so hi everyone. i realy am going ma here came off the pill in june to try for a baby and have always been regular but i am 7 days late now and was excited but i have taken 2 tests now and they were boath negative all the dr hhad to say was to wait another 7 days. i am starting to feel down and wonder why i have not come on if not preg? i have had no energy for 4 days now, been realy hot and drinking loads. hope i find out soon x

Not pregnant

i never thought i woould say this but i am realy upset today as i started my period today 10 days late i know i was going mad but i realy thought i could have been pregnant. well my family have been ok saying to look on the bright side and enjoy the trying but it is still hard to put on a happy face

Frustrated

I can completely understand. I am usually on a 28 day cycle without fail however last month I went to a 24 day cycle and this month it is now 30 days, still no period but negative pregnancy tests. What is going on? I am pretty sure now that I am not pregnant but what do I do - just sit and wait. So frustrating but good to hear others are going through the same, arrggh!
