Ok this is like many other topics on here, but ive not come on yet. i'm only 7 days late but i'm showing no signs of coming on! i did a hpt 2 days ago and it came up negative (it was a cheap supermarkt one so not sure if it would be accurate). not really sure if i should go to the doctors yet! my last period was on 2nd may and its not showed up yet!!! argh!

9 days late and no period

Okay I am 44. Suffering secondary infertility. Two rounds of IVF (one being with donor egg) -- did not make it past day 10 implantation. Now have had further tests to discover low progesterone, thyroid etc. Have been on 100 mg for the last five months. Then was upped to 150mg last month ----------- not able to do IUI as meds were not available as they lost the shipment where I live. Cut a long story short ---- in five years we have been trying for a second child - I have never been 9 days late - but my hpt on day 1 and day 5 were neg. Spent another bunch of money today --- waiting to see if HCG levels are there on Day 14, but might sneak a test in tomorrow morning on Day 10. Today feel very premenstrual although no signs of bleeding - very mild lower back ache, mild mild lower cramping - feels like ovaries are pulsating!!

Any advice from the girls that have gone through this --- please! Can the HCG levels take as long as two weeks - I thought all these HPT's were so so accurate?????????????????????? ???

Hi 1800prov

just a quick msg with every woman it can be different you might have ovulated later than you thought so it can a little longer for hcg levels to rise, so don't think the tests are not so accurate. Try and give it a few more days and if you still haven't come on then go to your docs for a blood test they can detect very low levels of hcg so giving a more accurate result, or do another hpt.
Hope that helps.

Hi

Hiya emma,
i'd give it another few days and if you haven't got your period then do another test and see how it goes. If you still don't get anything then go to your doc to get a blood test done. Sometimes it can take a while for hcg levels to increase enough to be picked up but a blood test is a good way to get a def answer as they are a lot more accurate and can pick up hcg from 1.
Good luck.
tc and let us know how you're doing.
Sherri
