I have
stopped suddenly as it were with all mine. I have fed them all to about the 2 year mark and basically fed them on demand whenever they wanted it. I totally understand how you are feeling having it forced on you to stop, it must be awful. At least with mine it was my decision and I was able to build up to it, talking to them about being big and moving on etc.
I found the way to break the habit with mine was by leaving them a couple of nights with my mum ( which they do from time to time anyway) and then just not feeding them when they came back. It IS hard, varies from child to child tho.
My 1st and 3rd stopped relatively easily, they asked for their milky a few times the first day and got upset a few times that I said it was all gone BUT by the second day they weren't getting upset and on the 3rd day didn't even ask!
My 2nd was much harder. He had never fallen asleep without his milky when he was at home and found it a real struggle. I used to cuddle him and sing him to sleep every night and it took AGES!! My HV told me it was his first experience of grief and he would need time to get over it.
I hope you and your baby girl are coping.
Much love Tracey xxxxx
