Breast feeding help

Hi,

I have been breast feeding my baby girl who will be 5 weeks old next monday, the trouble is my nipples are sooo sore, i know she is not latching on properly but in the end i just let her drink whilst its really painful, i have seen the midwives so many times who help me with the feeding but as soon as i get home and try myself it doesnt work. i am now expressing in desperation and feeding my baby breast milk by bottle when i can, trouble is she gulps alot of air too and ends up with terrible tummy ache, i am now at my wits end and cry alot as its just so upsetting. also is anyone feeding both breast milk and formula milk and if so is it successful?

Good morning to you and your baby girl.

Hi,

My name is Holly and I noticed your post in the forum.

I have got together with my friend a breastfeeding mum of 4 and ex midwife, and written an ebook outlining facts, myths, advice and tips that surround breastfeeding, weaning, expressing and nutrition.

We decided to create it cos like many mums we were constantly faced with conflicting advice whether it was from our own mum or doctor.

The ebook is accessible at anytime and is environmentally friendly as no printing is involved!

We know that breastfeeding matters and are serious about spreading the beneficial facts!

Please let me know if you have any questions, email me info@healthybreastfedbaby.com

Thank You for reading!

Holly

Dont give up!

hi
i had the same problem breastfeeding my son, it was so painfull i would be in tears feeding him and my nipples would bleed, i tried a well reccomended and expensive cream for the soreness but it made him really sick, my midwife suggested just rubbing a few drops of my breastmilk around them instead, im not sure if that really helped but changing the position i was holding him definately made a huge difference, try holding her in the rugby position so she is lying alongside your body propped on a cushion or pillow, this made it alot easier to latch him on properly, the pain was immediately reduced and the soreness went after a couple of days, also make sure your comfortable and relaxed when feeding as your baby will notice if your tense. also, you can successfully feed breast and formula milk, it just depends on what the baby likes.
hope this helps as lots of women have exactly the same problem! xxx
