When I was in hospital just after having my twins the midwives made it very awkward, they kept pushing me to bottle feed just because I had twins (by caesarean)
and they were born at 35 weeks, moved to a smaller hospital after 3 days my son had trouble feeding as he was quite small.
The midwives there were the same and also tried to make out I had post natal depression, I burst into tears one night because my hubby had to go home and they wouldn't let me go too!
I ended up leaving on day 7 THANK GOD
I got home relaxed and got into a lovely routine with the twins on my own, I breast fed them together and managed to feed them up until they were 7 and a half months old.
I didn't get any tutoring, I was told not to bother going to the first few parental classes as I was having an elective cesarean and my midwife didn't see the point in it, she also suggested that I bottle fed as it would be easier, I found that breastfeeding was easier than I had first thought and that some times you need to be left to your own devices and figure out the best positioning for you, mine was sat on the sofa with a V shaped cushion around my waist ana baby on each side with there heads at front and bodies under arm it did get a bit more difficult as they got older but I managed for that 7 1/2 months and it was one of the best things I ever did!

Positioning:

The baby should be unwrapped before being put to the breast. This will allow it the freedom to feel its mother's body, especially her warm breast. It must be positioned such that, it is in a semi-upright position with its stomach touching your stomach, its lower shoulder touching you, and its upper, shoulder close to your breat.

Latching on:

She must take the entire nipple(the dark areola) in its mouth. If the baby is still very young nad has a small mouth, it is more important that its lips cover the lower part of the areola than the upper part of the areola. It is lower jaw that will do the entire suckling.

Timing and Frquency of Feeds:

The baby must be allowed to feed as often and as long as it wants (including during the night). This will ensure that it gets enough hind milk also a feeling of security.

Ban of Feeding Bottles:

Although you may have got many feeding bottles as gifts, it is important that you never use them. The use of feeding bottles could cause nipple confusion and result in breastfeeding failure.
