"Hi there congratulations !!!" Posted by barltwo 11 August at 12:38
yes my baby and me had the same problems, she would not latch on properly and the midwife suggested shields it was the worst mistake i could of made, with hind sight, she would not feed without them.... what i should of done is just stick at it even though it was toe curling painful. the trouble is its easier to suck and latch on to the plastic than the breast. If you want to continue for several months, get rid of them, the is a brilliant cream for sore nipples you can put it on after a feed it wont hurt your baby and in heals the breasts is great . its called lansinoh you can buy it at boots.... hope its some use. fennel drinks will increase your milk flow ,but the baby is the best way to do it. good luck xxx

"Increasing milk flow." Posted by peridotlion 3 August at 16:52
i found it increased after several days and with each feed.also by eating little and often helped me out. i was also worried about the amount my baby drank and how much was avaliable.as my son constantly wanted feeding especially at night every hour. try switching feeding position to help with latching on, my midwive stopped me using a shield as it is larger and wider for baby to get to grips with. try the rugby ball position or lying on your side it helped me out loads! good luck and dont give up.

Your milk will increase with practice. Try to feed every 3-4 hours at first. Get plenty of rest between and drink plenty of water. After a while your breasts will settle into the routine and produce enough. I got my husband to suckle after baby each time and it increased the supply incredibly. It was fun too! You need to completely empty your breasts each time other wise they "think" the milk is not needed so much and make less next time.

fennel diluted in water helps to increase breast milk but it will settle once baby gets into a routine its all hit and miss at first well done though breast is best X
