Hello there

i have thought my son was "different" for a long time-i have been to a few places for help for some of his issue's(only eating foods of a salty taste, certain textures/colours-constipation diiorria(sp) ) but have had little help+told that its a phase.
Ihave never heard of "Senseory processing disorder" until reading your post--i then have been reading about it for the last couple of hours as SO many of "syptoms" describe my son's behaviour!!!!!!

Sensory processing disorder

Like you i always knew there was something amis with my son. And i honestly thought he was on the Autistic Spectrum (mild). However recently we had a few appointments at Occupational Therapy and she suggested it was Sensory Processing Disorder - SPD for short. She told me to get the book "The Out of Sync Child" by Carol Stock Kranowitz, MA.

This book is a revelation - its like they are describing my son. It made me feel so much better as it really explained a lot of my sons behaviours. Like your son funny with food, hates textures of certain clothing, has his shoes really, really tight, can't sit still, craves sensations, has problems educationaly at school, problems with relating to peers, sometimes hits out, problems with imaginitive play etc etc

You must get this book it will really help you understand. What kind of help are you getting with your son? I'd be interested to have more chats as its nice to find someone in the same boat. If you want the ISBN number of the book i can get it for you. Hope to hear from you again soon.

Michelle
