My 11 year old son has tourette syndrome

Hi my son was diognosed with Tourette Syndrome about 5 months ago, hes getting slightly worse with his tics, he not only does body and facial tics but verbal shouting out noises aswell, i feel so sorry for him and really do hope his condition gets better in adolesence,
Hes very clever and seems to be getting on really well at secondary school but i cant help worrying if other kids will soon catch on to his problem and start making his life hell, if anybody else is in a simular position to me please let me know?
Thanks
Lou

Have you tried

I have heard NLP can help with Tourettes as NLP helps you be in control of your un/subconsious mind and tourettes and its symptoms can come from here as they are involuntary, although sufferers can to some degree control their tics.
Have a look at the following website

www.getset4success.co.uk

I dont know where about in the UK you are but it may help

My 9 year old son has tourettes

How is your son doing? My son was just diagonosed with tourttes yesterday. I'm so sad for him and i don't know what i can do for him. I'm a single mom who has been working with him with is ocd since he was 4 years old. Now this! A lot like you i can't find anyone to help us.

Tourettes

I notice so many people saying that they can't find anyone interested to help with the problem. I have explored a few cases, and found some very interesting things. There may be an alternative way of looking at the problem, by investigating the stress and emotional component (usually anger or frustration) which always appears to be there underneath. I am not suggesting miracles, and this is a contentious area, but it may be possible to make progress in some cases with a therapist who is really competent in a technique like CBT, or NLP/ Time Line Therapy.

Kids taking the mick

Hey Lou, I'm not in a similar position but I just wanted to let you know what I think: All kids are at risk of getting the mickey taken out of them, whether it be their appearance, race, background, taste in music, dedication to studying, ... it could be absolutely anything! I can understand your worries though and hope all turns out ok for you both.
