Im 16 and when I was this age or younger I loved going to beach or the pool! Or if youre out of ideas you could just by your child a cd or send them to a friends house to get them out of ytour hair for a while!!!!!Lol

Ok I know this was posted a LONG time ago but the problem never goes away does it? A lot depends on how old your kids are really - I suppose they must be quite young if they're still at the throwing bread at ducks stage (though I must admit I still rather like doing it myself!) Have you had a look to see if your local library offers anything for children? Ours has regular story reading sessions and the larger one a few miles away organises crafty afternoons where the kids get to use their imaginations and get a bit dirty - great fun and only costs a couple of pounds each. Swimming is another good one - not too expensive and there aren't many kids who don't like water. How about an afternoon making biscuits or little cakes then letting the kids decorate them afterwards? It's even more fun if you invite a friend to help. I would also say that if you do a search online you will find a multitude of other things to try. Try this link for starters http://www.helium.com/knowledge/2472-cheap-enterta-in
Good luck
