hi has anyone had the gastric band operation at dolan park with the hospital group? just wondered what its like etc? i have got my consultation next week and i am feeling abit nervous about the operation but really want it doing cos fed up with being fat, any advice or details of what other paople have gone through would be greatly appreciated.

Hiya. Newbie to this forum. Just having a nosey and saw this thread. Hope you don't mind me sticking my nose in. LOL

I went for my consultation with the Hospital Grp back in March and had my gastric band operation on 22 April. I can honestly say the milk and yoghurt diet for 7 days is OK. You know you have to do it and stick with it, so your liver is small enough for them to move it in the operation. And according to the nurses, when I was coming out of it, that was one of the first things I asked. LOLOL. The hospital grp and nuffield hospital at leeds were brillaint. Think I were one of the last operations there before they moved down to Dolan Park.

Its a whole new way of life for the rest of my life now and have the back up of my dietician who I speak to every month or can see more if need be. I've lost nearly 4 stone in 3 months. It was the best thing I ever did.

how r u?i am also very excited about gastric ballon i have also appointment of 7th july?i just read ur msg if u have done plz tell me about ur experience?i really want it coz im also fad up my fatniss i want to slim and smart,hopefully if u read my msg answer me plz i would be very great full to you thanx nizee

i am the same weight & height as you 5ft 6 & 95kg, i was going to have the gastric balloon but as its only for 6 months i thought it was a waste of money, the hospital group have offered me the gastric band for the same price as the balloon £4950 and its for life so thought it better to go for that, you should give them a ring they seem really nice, i am due to have my consultation tomorrow(tues 1st july), will let you know how i get on.

i had my consultation for the gastric band yesterday it was all straight forward, the surgeon is lovely and all the staff at the clinic was really nice as well. if i want to i can have the operation done as soon as 15th july and because they told my i am not like their average patients as i am not that big i do not have to go on the 2 week yoghurt & milk crash diet before the operation because my liver is not that big which i thought was even better, they said its not painful its worse having a baby and i found my labour to be fine. i have just got to decide now if its definately what i want to do and find the money for it.

Hello I have my consultation for a gastric band on Monday 14th July, if I am accepted it will be at the Dolan Park Hospital, I am around 14 stone, is that the only pre diet, yoghurt and milk? dont know if I could do that one.... How are you feeling about now its getting nearer?
