I am 18 and going to college and wanting to go on a diet.

My name is Carolina and I am 18 years old. I just graduated from High school, and I am fixing to start college. And I am Overweight, I have been on the heavy side since I was about 8 and for awhile I was ok with my weight and then I started to add a few more. By the time I finished high school I didnt and still dont like the way I look. I have tried to sit down and prepare a diet for me and I have tried walking and swimming. But I cant stick to it. I love food to much and it seems like I am always hungry. Now I am not
Extremely huge but I am not a size 12 either.. I think if I lost at least 30 pounds within the next year I will be at my Ideal weight. But its so hard. So not only do I want to loose weight so I can be somewhat Skinny, I also need to loose weight for my health, I have been having some problems with my liver and its do to being overweight. Atkins

Hello hun,

The Atkins diet worked for me, i lost 5 stone in about 7 months. Its a brilliant diet, it is very effective IF it is followed correctly.
You do miss out on some of your favourite foods, but when you get into that pair of jeans or dress you want its well-worth it.
Im not saying Atkins is for everyone.. It takes time, but you will find the diet that is right for you. I have been on LOADS of them and this is the only one that worked.

I highly recommend that you do Yoga because when I was also having problems with my weight at a young age, I tried a lot of diet programs but they never worked for me. When I was introduced to the practice of yoga, that's when I started to see myself in a different light. I was motivated to do the exercises and watch what I ate. Since then, I've kept my weight off. Why don't you search for a yoga center or a yoga teacher in your area?

Hey u if my english sucks, ist because i am afrikaans. I am studying fashion so its kindof expected from u to dress an look thin.

Mabe u should try to egnor what people is saying and try to except the way u are. Then later on u woun't want to eat and do the thinks u like and not think of what would be ur next meal.

Exercise!!!

Carolina, i have a simular problem. I want to lose weight because i don't feel comfortable with myself. I want to be like most teenage girls.They are slim and they can wear the latest trends.
Last year i lost weight and i got into size 8 clothes. I was in love with a guy but i never told him that i liked him. I started going to the gym regurarly and i ate breakfast,lunch and a fruit in the evening. I was really happy and i wanted to lose more and more weight. I ended up eating only breakfast and i was pale. Everyone who saw me thought that i was anorexic.
A few months later, i didn't like that guy any more,i stoped exercising and i gained weight. Now it's difficult for me to lose all that weight.
I believe you should start exercising. In the beginning it might be difficult but when you start getting used to it,you will engoy it.
It isn't necessary to start a strict diet.Eat a good breakfast, then less lunch and in the evening eat a yogurt or something light.Try to avoid junk food and sweets!

P.S. I realised that if you are in love, it'seasier to lose weight.

Hi Carolina! My name is Courtney and I as well am 18 years old so I know exactly what you are going through. I had been a heavy child all my life and it wasnt until grade 10 that I decided okay listen Courtney, Prom is coming up and I you need to fit into a nice dress, so that was my motivation, wanting to fit into a beautiful prom dress, and you know what, I did it. I lost 70 lbs and I've kept it off for almost 2 yrs now. I'm 5'10 and used to weigh 225, now I weigh 155. I want you to know that it IS possible. I know this sounds so simple and I know that me saying it is "easier said than done" but what you need to do is exercise more, (exercise doesnt have to be boring) exercise can be walking your dog, going to the grocery store (walking not driving), doing chores around the house, anything you like. I like running, and rollerblading and thats what helped me lose the weight. You dont need a gym, I didn't visit the gym ONCE during the time I was losing weight. I know you can do it, I can help you with it if you would like and I can support you because thats one of the most important things in weightloss- motivation and support I want to be a nutritionist, so I have a fairly good knowledge of food.
