Gastric band or gastric bypass

I have tried every diet and diet pill there is. I am 35, nearly 22st and 5ft 9ins. I am sick of being fat. I have been given the option of a band or bypass. My initial reaction was sugery is extreme, but the more I am researching the more I am thinking its the best option. Can anyone help?

Gatsric band

Hi Beanie,

i completely understand where your coming from, i'm saving up to have the band fitted abroad with acompany called cosmetic bliss. are you getting yours done through your GP? mine wouldnt hepl me. as far as advice about what op to have, from the research i've done i would definitly go for the band as it is far better in the end i think i know people are drawn to it cause weight can drop off quicker but over all the band seems to have better long term benifits from what you can eat to feeling more healthy. with the bypass you will have to have vitamin B12 injections for the rest of your life and i have read so many stories of how un well people feel, your loosing your stomach altogether which to me seems crazy as it does really important jobs for our bodies. if your wanting this type of surgery have you ever concidered having the gastric sleeve, they remove 75% of your stomach so really can only eat little amounts but you still have a stomach that can absorbe and the goodies it needs from the food and digest it properly and you dont have to have any supplements. i think for any one to have the bypass is crazy as there are other surgeries, i hope this helps let me know how things go best of luck.

thanks

Anne
