Tips

Firstly, i agree with the honey and lemon drink twice a day and the cooking spray but dissagree with the no pasta and rice as these are both cheap to buy in bulk, filling and not all that bad for you. For the pasta you could buy a jar or pesto from asda or wherever you shop, all you do is add a tbls of it or something..and hey presto or should i say pesto, you have a pasta meal, add some salad to the side, done. Tesco do rice cakes for 96p or somthing for a pack of the large ones and they are tasty and low in callories, great as a snack. search for simple recipies that arent expensive. There are loads of things you just need to find out about them! let me know if you want any more advise or recipies!

Hello vicky....

hiya... well i m 21 as well.. live in hungary... i know how you feel about not being able to afford all this fancy food but i could give you some pretty simple ideas and trust me it helps... first thing first make a drink with juice of one lemon and one spoon honey with cold water every mornin... make sure thats the first thing you take every mornin and every night before sleepin... eat smaller proportions of food... have breakfast and lunch and try avoiding dinners .... instead of dinner you could have a cup of yoghurt... no rice ,no pastas, no white bread, avoid loads of red meat.
I think this stays in budget and trust me it works.
hope you feel better and will talk to you soon.

Yah same here, im a student

It is hard to diet on a low budget and i have a lot of weight to lose, if u wanna email me to talk, we can support each other, my email is vkgregory@hotmail.com, use subject sofeminine so i know who from.

Another tip...!!

also, dont eat after 6 in the evening as your body wont have chance to burn it off and youll put the weight on quicker and easier.Make sure your dinner isnt heavy either-no potatoes/bread etc!!

Great tips vikki!

I think just replacing the fatty foods in your diet with fruit and veg can work wonders. you also need to be more active, so try walking whenever you can and taking the stairs rather than the lift etc.

Couple of tips!

hi,things that are good for you dont need to be expensive.Fruit and vegetables are cheap and you can make healthy meals which dont cost hardly anything.you just need to make small changes and get plenty of exercise.change to skimmed milk, wholemeal bread, drink plenty of water-not sugary fizz.Stop eating snacks like crisps and choc and make your meals from scratch rather than buy processed foods and ready meals.Snack on fruits and raw veg and swap bread for something like crackerbread which is only about 19cals per slice or rice cakes. You can top these with cottage cheese/cucumber/tomato etc.
example-
breakfast- 2 slices wholemeal toast/low fat marg + banana
Lunch- homemade soup +low fat/fat free yoghurt
Dinner- Chicken stir fry. use spray oil or extra virgin olive oil
Eat as much fruit and veg in between with plenty of water or tea with skimmed milk-no sugar!
hope this helps, feel free to email me as im also on a diet at the mo aswell and good luck!!! you can do it !!

Dieting on a low budget

hi there, just like to say i totally agree with the food advice above, however my take on it is to make you sure you eat a little of everything so that you dont lose any vitamins you need! i use my dancing game also and i also make sure that i eat sensible portions. like it says above the wholemeal foods tend to fill you up quicker than sugary things so thats a good thing to go for. keep it up and good luck!!!!

Dieting on a budget tips

Hi there

Here is a list of foods that are cheap and low fat. Also look out for own brand foods as they are a lot cheaper and taste just the same.

Low fat Pasta sauce (Usually buy one get one free)
Pasta (I find that the bigger the bag, the cheaper its works out)
Economy Baked beans
Chicken thighs and breasts (usually on speacial offer)
Economy fish fingers (low fat and these are nice cut up with s small amount of tartare saue in a jacket potatoe for a quick tasty meal)
Crispy pancakes
Frozen own brand veg (this is a lot cheaper then freash veg and you don't have to worry about it going off)
Frozen fruit (good for smoothies which U can freeze in individual portions, warm in microwave and will not go off for a long time)
Own brand cereal bars
Own brand tinned fruit (Good for ceareals, with yougurt)

For very cheap treats in the summer I invested in some ice lolly mounds and make my own lollys with economy sugar free squash and water, they are only about 5 cals or less each and fruity and refreshing) or you could pour them in ice cube trays.

I hope this helps

Dieting on a budget tips countinued

Hi there me again

I am unemployed also and Know where your coming from.

Others things that are low fat and cheap are:

Own brand ceareals like weetabix and corn flakes (The bigger the box the cheaper it works out.
Invest in a large jar of splenda if you can and use as little as possible on your cereals and drinks and it should last a long time.

Another good tip is instead of buying bottled water which is very expensive, invest in a britta filter jug, one filter last about three months and are not that expensive when you think how much 2 litres of bottled water costs daily.

If you like fruity drinks try and find a cheap reusable drinks bottle and make your own with sugar free economy sqaush the bottle should last about a month or more before you might need too change it and this is a lot lot cheaper then buying drinks from a shop.

As said on the other messages it is a lot cheaper to make meals from scratch then buying ready meals. But if you find U need ready meals once or twice a week look out for buy one get one frees.

ALSO ONE LAST IMPORTANT TIP.

You don't need to follow these fancy diets that are usually followed by the rich and famous who have the money and the chefs to cook these for them.

On the internet there are loads of web sites about dieting, healthy eating and exersicing which can be done at home. Also doing it the old fashoind way is attainable in the long run as a way of eating for life but not as a gimmick.

Instead of buying dumb bells - Fill two 2 litre bottles of water or use tins of baked beans (this does work)

Invest in a skipping rope (U don't need a fancy one from a sports shop a kids one will do and they are very cheap) go steady at first though it will be hard and skip slowly, a VERY VERY effective excersise, boxers do this. Efective even if you only manage 1 min then try and build up slowly.

Walking is very efective and free.

If you feel you would like to invest in say a rowing machine or exersice bike, try and save say £10 a week if you can and look in the paper or on the radio for second hand one (I picked up a very modern stationary bike which is worth about £170, for £50!)

Good luck and I hope this has helped.

Fuzz

Me again!!

One final thing I have thought of is make your own soups, this is very cheap good for you and filling and you can freese them in batches.

You can make many many varieties which work out about 10p to 30p a serving, a lot cheaper then tins and healther.

Look on the internet for hundreads of recipes.

If you feel you need more support a good diet team is weight watchers - its about £4.50 a week and the support is very good in my opinion, you can stay behind and chat with other dieters (but U don't have too) plus they give you info sheets and recipes and trackers every week, they are very friendly staff who have been big themselves (You can only be a team leader if you have lost weight with wight watchers) plus the diet is very easy to follow.

Anyway don't worry I won't write back again lol.

Sorry me yet again lol

Sorry its me again.

If you can't afford a Britta filter but do not like tap water, Before you go to bed boil a kettle full of water and in the moring once this has cooled down, pour into a 2 litre bottle and put in the fridge. I think the boiling must kill bacteria and make the water a look cleaner and freash tasting. This could work and nice clean water will be free!

Just a thought!

If you want some excercise equipment, take a look on www.freecycle.co.uk, instead of taking it to the tip people who dont want things, advertise here. They have ones everywhere in the world so you would just have to look for hull. Actually might look there myself and see if can get an aerobic step machine and some dvd's, lol ... people throw all sorts away.

I'm just about to start changing my lifestyle, I need to lose at least 5/6 stone.

Good luck and if you feel like talking you are more than welcome to pm me
