Yes I do! I have been on eltroxin for 2 years
now and I use to take 50mg everday but now he increased
it to 100 everday..I hope it will make wonders now because
I feel so tired, frustrated and helpless.

Underactive thyroid

I read your message and I would like to know what a stone is. I am getting very discouraged. I have been diagnosed with Bi-polar Syndrome and I feel that all of the medications the doctor gives me for that plus the hypothyroid diagnosis is making it impossible to lose weight. Any suggestions?

Under-active thyroid

I also have one it was over had most of it removed now under take levothyroxine 200mcg a day but started a diet 3 weeks ago and have lost 14lbs , can see the weight coming off but i am hardly eating to lose it which is'nt good i never feel any better either since having my op which was about 8 years ago think its some thing we have to live with i'm afraid

good luck

There must be something...

You should feel good if everything is suposed to be sorted now? Perhaps you are not on enough thyroid replacement? You can do a little home test by checking your temerature on waking, over a few days. Check out www.squidoo.com/coldfeet for more info

I am facing the same prb as yours

Doctor gave me a medicine called levothyrox 75 mg for about one month now.
I still feel sometimes exhausted and depressed and i also got fat (more than 6 kilos) but I hope that the medicine will work in the long term.

Meanwhile, I am doing a lot of sport (fitness, running, bycle ...) and I hope it will be ok.

when I was a teenager (I'm 34 now) I used to be an ungly fat girl and I'd do anything not to go back through this awful experience.

Underactive thyroid

I wonder if anyone can help. I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid about 4 years ago. I currently am on 100mcg thyroxine per day. Since taking the medication I haven't noticed that much of a difference - I find it practically impossible to lose weight and still feel exhausted all of the time. My doctor refuses to send me to an endocrynologist as my blood work is always fine with the dosage I'm on.....

My other problem is that I also have polycystic ovaries which I am told is very common with the thyroid disorder??? As a result of the pcos I suffer with terrible hot flushes. I have been given black cohosh to help - but I'm not sure and can't seem to find out if they will interfere with my thyroxine.... Can anyone help with any tips on any of the above???

Underactive thyroid

Hiya, well i was diagnosed nearly 2 years ago and like you, im on 100 mg of levothyroxine. I am only 9 stone so weight for me isnt much of a problem tho i have gained half a stone, but over a few years, i am only 5ft 2in so thats fine. Its more tiredness & no motivation that affects me and feeling down and crying for no apparent reason. Ive been off my work for a few days each month because of it and i am desparate to feel better, some days i do but not as much as i feel i should. What about you, ru like that?

Donna from Glasgow.

Late reply..

hi, just read your post.. and wondered if you had had any joy with the black cohosh.. it has been recommended to me, and wondered whether you had found it worked ? i have underactive thyroid and PCOS aswell.. so am hoping!!

thanks, deborah

Another late reply!!

Sorry its taken me so long!!

Touch wood my flushes seem to be very far and few between these days - so I haven't been regular enough taking the black cohosh to know if they really helped.

Bizarrely I went for a scan at the doctors last week who told me that my ovaries look completely healthy - I'm just waiting for a blood test to confirm.

Hi

I've heard about that condition, but I don't have it myself - my sister has an overactive thyroid though, which makes life just as difficult, but in the opposite way!
Sorry I can't be of more help.
