Need help losing weight

Hiya,

I'm new to this site so i will start by introducing myself, my name is michelle, i am 24 years old.
I have 2 children and have found it very very difficult losing the weight i gained from having my son 6 years ago.
I need to lose about 5 stone and no matter what diet i go on, or how i have changed my eating habbits, nothing works.
I really wanted to go on the lighterlife program but i really cant afford the £66 a week to do so.

I am fairly active as you can imagin with 2 boys and i do workout at home a couple of times a week.

This is starting to get me really down and im not quite sure which way to turn next

Is anyone else in the same situation or have you got any ideas that might help?

Michelle x

Lighter life

Hi, I know someone who had Lighter Life prescribed by her GP so she got it 100% free didnt have to pay a penner . I gather it is quite strict though. x

Slimming world

I do the slimming world diet. Costs £4.50 a week and you can eat food to fit in with the family. They have a new diet called Extra Easy. It is a combination of the red and green days (Icouldn't get my head around red/green days). It's brilliant. By the magazine, take a look and see what you think. I have 3 children and we eat the same food now.

Hi michelle

hi, well I am on day 4 of the cambridge diet and I am doing better, it is very hard at first,, LIKE EVERY THING, but as you keep doing it and if you really want to do it,, it is possible, I am in the US and I know the cambridge diet is a bit diffrent over here and there, BUT ITS ALL ABOUT THE SAME, I am just wondering have you been doing the diet also? well good luck hope to hear from ya,

This works

eat sensibly and exercise. Fast every other day. Eat nothing at all after 4pm and tell noone you are dieting!

Lighter life is not the answer sweetie...........

I had a baby in April 05 and was a single mum of 1 since i was 6 months pregnant. My ex had found a slim girl. Basically he said i would always be fat and ugly and would spend my life alone forever. I thought i would show him how untrue that would be so I went on a diet July 2006 and weighed 21stone 2 pounds. I was mortified when i weighed myself but it gave me the kick up the backside that i needed. I'm gonna give you some advice here and its up to u if u want to take it. These quick diet solutions r rubbish honey. u will spend all your money, make yourself ill and eventually the weight will pile back on again. For some reason, doing it the cheapest and the easiest way seems to good to be true which is why we tend to go for the hardest option convincing ourselves that its the easiest. I hope im making sense here??? Anyway, you obviously need to add some excercise and my advice is swimming. start with 20 lengths..... once u start to feel a difference u will all of a sudden increase the amount of lengths u do. Go at least 4 times a week. Pay monthly at your local swimming pool as it should work out under 20 quid per month. Change your food habits. u must cut out potatoes, bread and pasta. instead of bread, eat cracker breads. u can even make sandwiches out of them and they r yummy. there r lots of fruit aswell that increase your metabolism like strawberries, grapes and so on. Believe it or not if u do it on your own, write a diary if u need to keep an eye on what your doing and add the swimming, u will do this.
Just by sticking to what i've written ive lost just over 8 stone since last summer. Dieting alone will not motivate u into losing weight. Add a sport and u will get such a buzz that you'll watch and enjoy getting slimmer. I've gone from a size 26 to a size 12 and i'm still swimming 100 lengths 3 times a week and enjoying my new image. u can do it too sweetie.
Best of luck xxxx

Hope this can help

Hello

Hi Michelle

My names Verity im 27 and like you desperate to lose weight about 4 1/2 stone). I to wanted to try literlife but cant afford that sort of money every week.
A friend of mine at work has started a similar diet called Herbalife , i dont know if you have heard of it but its alot cheaper - think its about £66 per month.
I am hoping to start it myself next week so will keep you informed on how i am doing.

Take Care

Verity x

Hello

Verity, I have recently lost ten stones in weight since January this year on Literlife. I
am now in week 8 of management which involves re introducing food. I first lost a similar amount of weight about four years ago through Slimming World. Trouble was it didn't deal with my food issues. I then gained the lot. As I was regaining the weight, about four stones, I looked at liter life. Like you I went for a cheaper option ie Cambridge Diet. It was a total failure, you see these diets only deal with the symptoms ie the excess weight, not why you got that way in the first place. Take a bank loan out, thats what I did. You will probably lose your weight in three months then three months onto management. As soon as you stop needing to purchase the meal packs, you pay nothing and can have the cognitive therapy and counselling forever without paying more unless you need to
purchase meal packs again. The cost is 66 per week whilst you rely totally on the meal packs and this reduces during management with the reintroduction of meals. I would definitely recommend it, don't try and save money on other stuff, it doesn't work for any length of time. You must get you head right around food to be able to maintain your weight long term.

Good luck.

Slimming world

hi im only 19 years old and i have a lot of weight to shift, i started going to slimming world, only £4.50 a week and its the best thing ive tried to diet, its not even like a diet the more you eat the more you loose, ive lost 2 stone 4 lbs and thats only been from january 21st highly recommended xxx

Diets

Hi There Michelle,

I looked into lighterlife and the Cambridge diet and it also came down to cost for me too, the Cambridge diet it is far far cheaper than lighterlife and is exactly the same type of low calorie diet. I start tomorrow and can't wait!! Again you have soups, shakes or bars see a CD counsellor regularly and it cost approx £30 a week....Big difference huh,

Good luck hun,

Much Love luciexx

What about the cambridge diet?

I'm doing Lighter Life myself and really recommend it but I appreciate that it is expensive. I understand that the Cambridge Diet is very similar in terms of the food products and the overall content of the diet but quite a bit cheaper. I'm sure someone on an earlier post said it was about half the price but I don't know that for sure. The main difference is that you don't have the classes and therapy, you just meet up with a counsellor on a one to one basis and pick up your foodpacks and get weighed etc.

If it was half the price, could you go for it? You would be saving all the money you would normally spend on food and drink for yourself during the week and when you add that up it must come to at least £30 or £40. If you feel really ready to commit to a diet, then I can't recommend a VCLD (Very Low Calorie Diet - like Lighter Life and Cambridge Diet) highly enough. I've lost 40lbs in 7 weeks and feel fab.

Check out my blog on www.livetoslim.blogspot.com if you're interested.

Good luck whatever you end up doing - at least you're addressing this early when you're still young and have plenty of time to enjoy being slim. I'm 37 and feel that I wasted quite a bit of my 30's feeling fat and unattractive, so good on you for trying!

Hi kaitlynn

Hi Kaitlynn,

You say you are 13, but how heavy / tall are you.

Do you need to diet or maybe just make sure you are eating healthily?

Regards,
