Cambridge diet
Hi Debbie Cambridge Diet really works, but it is so difficult to do. I found the best way was to be really strict with myself and obey everything for six days, and one day a week (I used Sundays) to eat normally, - i.e. proper Sunday roast. It made it all workable and achievable. I admit, Mondays were hard, but then the weight loss on the scales week by week made it all worth while. Good luck, you will do it. Rachael

Cambridge diet
Hi Debbie I've used this diet. It involves having 3 soup or shakes a day and nothing else apart from lots of water & herbal teas, although I broke the rules a bit and also had diet soda and tea & coffee with a tiny bit of milk. I won't lie - some of the flavours that they do are horrible, none of them are exactly nice but some of them (like the choc & banana milkshakes & the chicken & mushroom soup) are just bearable. The brilliant thing is it really works - I lost half a stone in my first week and this evened out to about 4lbs each week (I lost three stone in total). When I stopped I managed to keep the weight off (it really helped break my food addiction) and I'm just going to start it for another month to lose my last stone. You buy a weeks supply from your counsellor for about £35 and you have to go to her to pick it up. It's not touchy feely couselling - you have to do a short medical questionnaire on your first visit and from then on she'll just weigh you, have a quick chat about how it's going and then you choose your flavours for the next week. When you start it you'll find the first four days really hard but if you stick with it you stop feeling so hungry and you'll start to see the weight drop off which then makes it much easier to stick with. I find if you get unbearable cravings a can of zero soda helps fill you up and get rid of the urge to break the diet. Once I'd been on it for a couple of weeks I stuck it to the diet strictly all the time but every now and again if we went out I would have a meal and some wine and then go back on the diet the next day. Little treats like this every couple of weeks made it easier for me to bear but if you've got more will power than me you might be able to resist! I would recommend it, it's lower cal than slim fast and half the price of lighter life. I still cooked normal meals for my family - they took the micky at first but then when I started to lose weight so quickly they were really supportive. Good luck - you'll be skinny soon!! xxx

Cambridge diet
Hi There...
Having lost five stone the hard way five years ago, keeping it off for four years then piling three stone back on after losing my business, I was determined, like you, to regain my mental discipline and beat it once and for all.
I've been on the Cambridge diet for seven weeks and lost two stone already, and I am more confident than I've ever been that this is the best route for me.
As for the cost, the diet costs me a lot less than I was wasting on crap every week AND it forces the discipline back into you. The results speak for themselves and condition you into wanting less food. The diet is great for recreating your diet as a lifestyle decision rather than just a fad. Whatever your hubby says, he'll respect and facy you even more when you achieve the loss you're aiming for, and you will!
Stick to it Debbie. If you haven't already started, I would urge you to start today. I haven't looked back and I know that with the counsellors support (they're great by the way), once I have reached target weight, the smaller portion maintenance menus, combined with more exercise (that you'll find yourself actually wanting to do!), will keep me on track and provide the discipline I need.
We were meant to be fit and healthy. Losing weight so quickly is only a bad thing if you have no plan to reduce portion sizes and control the type of food you eat when you've hit your target. The euphoria you will feel when you lose that three stone will more than compensate for the negativity of others and your own self doubt.
You can do it!
If you want any more information about the diet or getting through the early stages, feel free to e mail me. When I get your message, I will reply.
Good luck! Go meet your counsellor today if you can.
Kind Regards
Steve

Hi
Did you manage to lose the weight you wanted to lose?
i have been reading all of the emails and i am intrested in loosing weight but I am worried it will cost a forture how much does this diet cost?

No support!!
Hi Debbie, Im about to start the diet on Monday - im a nervous wreck! I have tried every diet under the sun and am motivated for 2 - 3 weeks then screw it all up and put weight on. Im at my wits end - ive got 2.5 stone to lose - not been out the house for 3 weeks because i feel so ugly and fat. My boyfriend thinks i will fail at this cambridge diet as i have failed all others and my family think im silly as when im off the diet i will put the weight on.
I know how u feel. This is the last straw for me - i am GOING to lose weight on my own!! My advice is every morning u get up look in the mirror and say I CAN lose weight, I WILL lose weight, I AM CONFIDENT and a BEAUTIFUL PERSON. I know it sounds crazy - but a bit of positive mental attitude every day works wonders!!
Im terrified to start this diet - i dont know how i will feel - if i will be weak or lethargic is my main concern but im off to Turkey in September so need to lose 2 stone at least!!
GO FOR IT!!! X X

Be positive!!
Hi,
I know how you feel when you say its your last chance! i was the same,Got to the point where i hated going out and rather just stay at home eating and hoping that my weight problem would dissapear! im on day 13 and lost 11 pounds on my first weigh in and due for my second one tomorrow night, ive got about 3 stone to lose. Im starting to think to much about my weight and if im going to lose anuf to get me motivated for anouther week!! And also how long im going to manage to stay on the diet before my willpower weakens!
You get so many different feeling while following this diet but its the only diet ive stuck to so far.
I wish you and everyone the best of luck in starting ( or doing) the cd diet just stay positive and prove people who are negative towards your weight loss that you can do it!

Hi!
I have frowned upon support (although not as bad as yours) and have met a lovely lady on this site who is very understanding....
It is hard, but we are all in the same boat. I have just had a slip up and so am feeling really dissappointed in myself. Just stick to it, get your results, be proud you CAN do it without close friends/family support and when you are swaggering down the road in your size ten feeling a million dollars you will have yourself to thank! Stay focused, remind them you did it alone when they are all following your example!
YOU CAN DO IT! xx

Cambridge diet
Hi Debbie, I was struggling to lose a stone and half for two years and thought I was never going to lose it. I went on the cambridge diet last september and was at my goal by january. It is a very strict diet to follow and I was worried about the amount of daily calories as it is so low but the shakes contain every thing you need and after a week I did not feel tired and got into the routine of the diet I did not do soul source I was on the 790 calories a day. I found this better as I could sit with the family at dinner time and eat something. It does get boring but the results are fast. I gave up smoking 2 months ago and have gained 9lb so I plan to go back on the shakes for a couple of weeks to knock it off before it gets out of hand. My family did not like me doing it either but now they just expect me to have shakes now and again to keep the weight off. Good luck I hope it works for you.

Cambridge diet reply
hi debbie, i'm starting the same diet tomorrow. Although i have the support from my fiancee, my parents strongly dis-approve of the diet! I did the 'lighter life' diet before i fell pregnant with my first child, and had to give up as i wouldn't have had enough nutrients for both of us....as a result my cravings got the better of me and the 4 stone i lost in 3 months rapidly piled back on! if i'm honest i would have gone back on lighterlife if it wasn't for the price change (from £45 a week to £63) then i looked up the cambridge diet, phoned the counsellor near me and she told me it was exactly the same food source, they do the maintenence course too, so i took it up! i just wanted to say, that i had soooo many people tell me to eat something when i was on the other diet and so many negative comments.....that is untill they saw how healthy i looked and how happy i got! that soon shut them up. at the end of the day debbie, if you're like me, you are the one who sees yourself in that mirror every day. you are the one who hides just how much you hate your body, you are the one who takes the odd stupid comment with a laugh infront of a crowd then cries on their own. unless these people know what you are going through then they have no right to comment! it's you who feels this way, and only you can change it. It would help if these people got off your case for a while and just waited (even for just one month) to see what a difference you are capable of making to your: looks, health and happiness. so like me i hope you don't give up. good luck lynsey

I am starting the cambridge diet
I am due to start the diet next friday 2 march. I really know where you are coming from. I dont seem to get as much negative response from family and friends. When i did the lighter life diet I told my husband that is cost 30 pounds little did he realise it was over twice that much. When I said that I was doing this diet he said not another diet i am not that bad . I've got my fortieth bday coming up in july and I am moving to Ireland to live as well. i have abiut 3 and half stone to lose . How are you getting on with it since you started in jan I would really like to know.I know when I did lighter life for a couple of months i lost just under 2 stone and i really enjoyed it but it was too expensive to carry on with. How's it going?
hello aldeen, just come across your message to marilyn and was wondering how you was doing on the diet. i started today, have done the lightlife b4 in the past and lost 2 stone in 28 days, came away from it because the price went up. im 37 years old and my starting weight is 20 stone dead on. i have got a long way to go and i have noticed that you may have also. a lot of the others seem to only need to loose about 3 stone thats why i think your message stood out. please let me know how your doing. all the best kazz

Keep at it
Hi i have always been the same weight as my age from the age of 16 to 28 i have been the same in stones. The cambridge was my last resort and i was as sceptic as the next. I started in june 2005 and at 28 stone i lost two stone in my first week. Yes thats right all you non believers,, two stone in one week. I immediately thought of my health, surely this is damaging, you cant healthily lose that much weight so quickly. However i felt great so decided to carry on. A year later and 10 stone lighter it did become more difficult only losing 1 to 2 pounds per week with only shakes and water passing my lips but still i continue. I'm still overweight but at 17 stones im much happier and cant wait to reach my personal goal of 16 stones...
If you dont have support now just wait till jealousy sets in, when you look and feel better you become a different person and sometimes those closest to you cant handle it...
Just remember who your doing this for............YOU......

Cambridge diet - negative friends
Hi ya, I found out about this diet today and have just arranged to meet the lady tmw! Already I've had negative comments from my other half. It's so unfair that he can eat whatever and not put on a single lbs - where I've just had our first child and feel as big as the house!
To be honest I know it's a sort of quick fix, but if it makes us happy when we lose 7lbs in 1 week, then why not? I need to lose around 4 stone and the other day my partner made me feel so bad, he has never been able to put on weight in his life so i don't feel he can truely comment on overweight people but he said to me that he don't understand how people get fat! I quote "don't they look in the mirror and see it happening and think, oh i better do something about it" I could have punched him in the nose right there and then. Which makes it so hard to go on this sort of diet when i know he will be trying to tempt me to be naughty! Doesnt he want me to be happy?

I soooo understand you!
Hi Debbie. I have my mind set on starting cambridge diet. My boyfriend doesnt understand, thinks going on weight watchers or slimming world is cheaper and healthier. Yes it might be cheaper but its the instant results that got me interested. But im having an operation next week (24th) and unfortunately my councellor told me that i cant start the diet till at least 3 months after the op! Now im worried that in 3 months my family will feed me all the negative stuff about the diet and put me off. But they dont understand how much my weight puts me down. I need to lose 3 stone to get my confidence back. The only way to prove them wrong is to do it for myself and achieve my goal. Kez x

My first day
Hi I'm 5ft 0" and started the diet today!!! With a Forest Fruit shake. I am 10st 3 and wanna lose 1 and a half stone!!!
Really need a buddy to do it with though. I think the shakes are a bit chalky. Does anyone else feel that and i felt bit sick at first. Or is that just me??
Love to heat from anyone in similiar boat!!!!!!
|
|
|
Yes i do
i treid the diet for three days.the chalky taste and horrible smell made me vomit on the 3rd day. i gave up, but a month later i tried it again.i am now on day 4 and feeling fine.the reason is because i use the cartons now instead.the choc 1s are easy to drink(well not at first) but u get used to it.when ur drinking it just keep picturing urself looking skinny.thats what gets me thru it!i am 10stone 11 and want to lose 2 1/2 stone!
