| Thread started by: | "Hi, i'm on cambridge diet for next 6 months at least, does anyone want to join me in a motivation?" Posted by quizsetter 22 February at 20:00
Hi,
I'm new here today.
I started Cambridge Diet 3 weeks ago and I have lost 17lbs so far.
I am really struggling this time (I did Lighter Life, 3 years ago and lost 5 and a half stone).
I think it's because I know I have 8 stone to lose, which means being on the programme for so much longer than before.
Also there are so many lovely smells coming from my kitchen that it's driving me mad!
Anyone out there who can help to motivate me?
Debs.

Hi,
I started the CD last Friday... so I'm on day 4 at the moment. Still waiting for the elusive promised point when I won't feel hungry, but actually feeling quite good on it.
How are you doing Deb's? I know I'm a bit behind the times on replying, just came across the web site now.
I feel so motivated to make this positive change in my life but am so worried about what happens when I reached target, I don't want to keep yoyoing for the rest of my life.
Anyway just wanted to drop you an email to see how you were getting on and wich you all the best.

Hi Deb,
I'm going to see my CD consultant for the first time tomorrow. I have two stone to loose (I'm 11st 10lbs) and am hoping that the CD will work for me! I'd love to "walk the path" with you if you'll have me?
I heaviest weight has been 15st 7lbs and my lightest has been 9st (maybe a little under) I know how hard it is to feel good no matter your size and know that it is all about support and motivation.
I have kids and that does not help matters - what with home baking and all!
Tell me, how you have found the last few weeks? And what has got you through the tough times? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Debs
I started the diet last Monday and have my first weigh in tomorrow. I have had a very hard week. It is the first time I have ever done a diet like this. First three days I had headaches, shakes and dizziness. I found yesterday really hard because I went out shopping and the smell of bread, chicken etc was very tempting. was very close to dropping out. Have got very bad sickness though, and am really struggling to keep the food down. I have got 4 and a half stone to lose, so fingers crossed I will be able to stick to the diet. The only way I am getting my motivation at the moment is by thinking about all the weight I am going to lose and getting my confidence back. Also being able to go into a shop and not having limited option of what clothes I can go for or fit into. I don't want to have to worry about wearing white, or horizontal stripes etc. Hope this helps

I'm a newbie to this diet. Literally started 5 days ago- but I've lost 3.5 lbs so far...and I cheated a little! This week I'm going to be really good and see how much I can lose without cheating!
Is it just me or do the shakes have that funny taste/smell everytime you whisk them up? Makes me gag just writing about it!

Hello!
I'm new here today and was browsing.
I started the Cambridge Diet recently, two weigh-ins, and have lost 17lbs so far, my goal is to lose 70lbs!
In some ways it's easy, you don't have to plan meals etc and others it's hard, for example taking the kids to the cinema and not eating popcorn, not being able to go on nights out, cooking for the rest of the family, etc. However, this is all about a complete life-style change to benefit your health and looks!
However, sometimes when I think I just fancy a nibble on something nice and I don't, I feel very proud of myself for not giving in! You should too!!!

I also started the Camebridge Diet nearly 3 weeks ago (due to have my weigh in tomorrow!..weigh in 3.
I lost 9lbs the first week - then a very low 1 1/2lb the following week...which I was quite disheartened and felt very low. Im due to get weighted tommorrow and am quite anxious.
Through the week I have no probs at all!!!! but come Saturday night and at around 8pm I start getting the muchies....so far ive held off - but thought I would have lost alot more in my 2nd week after not failing on the CD yet????
Will let you know how tommorrow goes.... Ive got to lose 3 stones so i know it is a struggle - BUT we can DO IT!!!!!

Hi Not yet contacted a councellor, but I went to a Lighter Life seminar last night.....£66!! I should say "I'm worth it!" but unfortunately with 4 kids and 1 at uni, I cannot justify it! I did the Cambridge years ago(21yrs ago!) and know it worked then. How much is it these days? I have 8 stone to lose too. As to motivation, my feeling now is that I need to treat food as a recovering alcoholic treats drink, abstinence! It has gone beyond 'comfort eating', into 'self-harm'. It hurts me physically and emotionally to binge and I cannot stop that while I am eating 'some'. I am waiting for psychotherapy to sort out y I do this...watch this space! I can honestly say I know how you feel, but you have done this before, you know you can do it, FOR YOU,your health and self confidence AND SEX APPEAL!! Remember, an alcoholic cannot have "just a little", be strong. Go girl!!

| | "Hi, i am also on the cambridge diet for the foreseeable future and need some motivation?" Posted by ireneb5 19 June at 22:49
Hi, I am also new here today.
I started Cambridge Diet 5 weeks ago and so far have lost 22lbs in total. I am a bit disappointed as I had hoped to lose more. I have about another 5 stone to lose and it seems like it will never happen. Anyway I am still trying and like you I find the smells from the kitchen are driving me mad. I still cook a meal for my husband and 15yr old and find it very difficult to not have tasters. I am my own worse enemy. Tonight I made spaghetti bolognaise and it smelt so wonderful I could not stop myself from having a very small portion instead of one of my cambridge shakes. At the moment I am drinking a lot of water in the hope that it may help compensate for what I have eaten. If you get any good motivational tips please pass them on as I could really do with them. Also keep in touch and let me know how you are getting on.
Regards
Irene

Hi,
I have been on the Cambridge Diet for a couple of weeks and have lost 17lbs so far, with 53lbs to go! I try not to look at the whole amount and just do it in 1 stone markers, it's not as daunting!
I have a husband and three children that I have to cook for too and it is hard! But try to stay strong, your body will burn fat quicker if you don't succumb to the odd nibble. I have to say that after I ate a teaspoon of lasagne the other day I felt really guilty because I didn't need to eat it.
Just remember this isn't going to be forever! and if we stick to it the weight will come off and we will look better and feel healthier. Stephanie

Hi,
I live in the UK and have been told you can only get the diet by actually going to a counsellor is that correct?
Good luck with your diet. Regards Irene

Hello, how you doing? Like you i have about 8 stone to lose. I love bread and shop for a grown up family and hungry husband (who never seem to gain weight) I am a good cook and know it is going to be so hard. However i am going to a huge family wedding end of may, (i know i've left it late) and since i have got so fat, usually i cry off functions, this time it will be impossible not to go, so, i start tomorrow. I am excitd but nervous because i feel this is my last chance as i have tried everything in the last 10 years. I would love to help motivate you, and hope you will be able to help me. Thanks Joy

| | "Are you me?!!" Posted by toodledoo 30 June at 14:41
Joy, you could be me,except I have3 skinny kids (20, 12 & 8), an 18 yr old who is heading my way and a skinny husband! I so don't want to inflict my problems on my daughter, so I don't nag her or comment on her weight or what she eats, as I think it was my own mother's obsessions that started me off! I am planning a Cambridge start soon, how much is it? I couldn't afford Lighter Life! I have a huge family party to go to 28th July, all people I haven't seen for years and who knew me slim!! How was the wedding? How are you doing noe, and how was the wedding?
