Bulimia/big tummy,help

hi its my 1st time on here,i am bulimic and have been for 20 years or more,im almost 40 now,my problem isnt that im overweight,im 5'2" and weigh 7 stone 13,its the fact i have a big tummy, ive tried diet and every abdominal exersize going but nothing reduces it,i look 6 months pregnant all the time and it rules my life,i dread weddings christmas etc because i wont be able to wear my 'hold it in jeans',i make myself sick as eating pushes my tummy out more,no one understands as i cover it up and people i have told dont believe me or say it cant be that bad because they havent noticed,my one wish would be a tummy tuck! does anyone else have this problem or anyone got any ideas for me? i cant be the only person looking like this but can honestly say i havent seen anyone else like me,my friends who have had big tummies lose weight and lose their tummies, but i dont want to lose any weight because im stick thin everywhere else.

I had the same problem!

Hi,

Sorry to hear that you are having a rough time.

I was also bulimic for 6 years and despite having a reasonably 'normally' sized frame my stomach was always huge, which of course made me want to purge more! It has now been a while since I last purged (I went to counselling to stop) and my stomach has gone down loads!! My counsellor/nutritionist said that it was due to the damage to the body and hormone levels that gives the body an apple shape. Honestly stopping purging was the best thing that I EVER did - my body, energy levels and self-esteem are better than ever and I would strongly urge you to try and stop - you will see the difference!!

Hope this helps! x

I was bulimic and had the same problem

I was bulimic from age 14 to 21. I am a nutritionist and have been looking into what cases the stomach to be so sticky out and have found out that the glands and the tissue around the stomach swell up due to purging. Just like my face looks fatter the nect day because my glands swell then my stomach is the same. Hope this helps.
Take Care

Hi

Hiya

Sorry to hear your feeling low. It is just a thought but have you maybe got IBS irritable bowel syndrome. I had/ have this and i cut out my bread , pasta and e.c.t in my diet and now my tummy is flat again.
Or you could have an allegy to some food which bloats you. Maybe it could be a good idea to eat some pre-biotic yogurts/drinks which my also help this problem.

Tell your GP about this is concerning you and see what she says like i said it could be an allegy or IBS. The can test for this and then you will be on the road to finding out about this problem.

Hi

hi thanks for that ill try the yoghurts and drinks, dont tend to eat much bread or pasta as like you said it bloats me,will talk to gp next time im there
thanks again
