Does anyone else have the same problem?

Right basically I'm not anorexic or bulimic, nor do I want to lose weight. However food is repulsive to me and I never get hungry, I can go whole days without eating, infact I think the longest has been 2 days without even noticing. I'm really picky and have a ritualistic style of eating. For example my toast has to be toasted on number 8 in the toaster, for 2 minutes so it is brown in the bottom left hand corner and on the top right hand corner. This then has to be spread with butter (not margarine) until it's greasy but not dripping. Then I have to have this on a small plate with one piece of kitchen towel tpo soak up any condensation. If these rules aren't followed then I can't eat it.
The dietician that I attend says that she has never encountered such a thing. My weight is below average and my BMI is around 16. Please could someone tell me if they or a friend have this problem. If so how do they deal with it because I really want to be able to eat and gain weight. I'm sick of being called anorexic because you can see my bones!!!

Please, please, please reply! Any and all advice or information would be much appreciated!

Hey!

Hi, it defenetly sounds like OCD, i have some problems too, nothing like your but i understand, like i wont touch the floor with my hands because im terrified i ill catch some horrible disease, if i touch the floor i run like mad to wash my hands. and if i touch one side of my face i feel like i have to touch the other side on he same spot if i dont i get really angry and freak out. i also self harm because of the stress its bringing to me. im making myself sick after my 1 or 2 meals a day. i shoulc talk to someone you trust, tell them evrything that you feel like you can tell and possibly tell a doctor, they could help more.
hope i've helped.

Ocd

I don't think you're anorexic. What you're describing is osessive compulive disorder; your focus happens to be food. You're not experiencing fear of being fat, self-loathing, disgust at fat people, you will eat butter!! So i agree, you're not anorexic. I've struggled with mild OCD since i was about 11, i've managed to keep it hidden really. I can't explain why i have to do things but i do, other people dont understand this. I do things like have to touch all the corners on something, have to have everything in certain quantities, touch something a certain number of times, look at something 7 times, eat 3 crackers, not 2 or 4, exactly 3. I can't stop myself doing it and it's gone on so long i don't even notice i do it. I'll flick the lights on and off..have to press my palms exactly to the walls.. wierd stuff. It's unfortunate for you that your focus is food.. can't really hide it if you don't eat. Maybe you could try cognitive therapy? Or try to focus your urges on something else? Best thing is to see a councillor really.. nutritionists will just try to make you eat. not going to solve your problem! Hope you can sort things out. XXX

Hi,

what you are describing are called obsessive-compulsive behaviour. They are rituals typical of anorexia and they are sort of conditions, developed by the ill person, to have all things under control.
you know, not all people suffering form anorexia cut food consciously... sometimes this comes at the next stage....
