Implanon and weight gain

hi im a 21 year old with a 3 year old son. shortly after giving birth to my son i got the implanon implant. all was fine until about a year and a half ago when i started to get very irregular periods and put on alot of weight (almost 20kgs!) and although i have lost about half the waight i put on i cant seem to get rid of the rest. Its made me very depressed and i just dont feel like myself. i even thought i was pregnant until i did a test. i am getting the implant out in a week and i was just wondering if anyone has experienced wat i have with the weight gain and if it will come off easier wen i get the implant out? id love to hear from other people who have had this problem......

Implanon nightmare

i have 6 kids and in between my last two i had implanon fitted and i noticed more or less straight away after gettin it taken out that i lost the weight i had gained, unfortunately 18 months ago after having my youngest son i had it put in again and have gained a terrible 3 stone and getting heavier im really depressed and have terrible mood swings but no other contraception wrks for me, im getting it removed as i am so depressed and i get hungry all the time it s a real pain and i have periods that last nearly two months at a time its the perfect contraception if the side effect werent so bad but im now a size 18 and iv never been that before

i got a 1 year old son and after having the implant i put twice as much weight on and reading what you have said im going to have it out next week its driving me mad i used to be dead skinny now im 14 stone and size 16 and i hate it. when i was carrying my son i was about 11 stone i had the implant when he was 3 weeks old!!!!

I had the implant after having my daughter 4 years ago. I was a dress size 10 before having her and am now in a tight 14. Before my daughter i never had to worry about weight. After having her i had the implant fitted and like you, all was fine then i started getting irregular periods. I still have not managed to shift my baby weight, not without want of trying. I have tried most diets out there but none seem to work or last. I had the implant out in feb and since doing so i have gainned another 4kg's. Nothing i do seems to help. The nurse said i should try to loose the gained weight before i have No 2 but i only seem to be gaining more. I wished i could you better advise but i am in the same boat as you.

yes, the implant does make you put on weight which os the last thing u want after given birth. I`ve put weight on, which I can`t get rid of and it`s making me so depressed. I`m having it taken out on monday
