| Thread started by: | "Implanon weight gain nightmare" Posted by citygirl9 26 May at 11:53
Hi,
I`ve had the implanon put in after I had an abrotion on the 14 april. Since than(in 6 weeks time) I`ve put lots of weight on, I`ve gone from a size 10, trough a 12 and now even size 12 clothes are too tight on me. I`ve never usen any other form of hormonal contraception before, we`ve only used condoms which my husband doesn`t like anyway. I eat everything and anything, whereas before I could control my food intake, now I seem to have no control over it. Everyone has noticed I`ve put all this weight on, don`t know what to do. I wouldn`t really want to have the implant taken out, as I consider it a reliable contraceptive. What should I do, please help
Thanks

Hi,
I also got the implanon put in right after i had my abortion. Its been about 3 months and i have put on about 4 kilos. I been told that it wears off after 3-5 months. Then some others say the weight gain stays for as long as you have the implant in. I keep hearing different stories from ppl and i guess everyone is different. But my situation is exactly the same as yours. I'm tempted to take the implant out so i don't put on anymore weight... but then again maybe it could wear off lol. But im too scared to take that chance.

I have had it for 3 years and initially put on a bit of weight but this has levelled off now. I would say keep it in as it is so reliable but doing some extra exericse worked for me. The worst thing for me is the spots...
