Anyone on qlaira?

I was watching 'this morning' and Dr Chris was talking about a new oral contraceptive called qlaira...it's meant to have a natural form of eaostrogen as apposed to the one in the combined pill.
It's meant to work better in the body and reduce pain and flow of periods, with less risk of blood clots as well.

Just wondered if anyone was on this pill, and what your experiences are like?
I'm particualarly interested in hearing from people with a history of DVT in their family, and if they are on it?(as this is one of the factors why my docor is reluctant to put me on microgynon)
thanks in advance xx

Anyone on qlaira

Just had a look at the SPC this is the legal summary of the product supplied by the company. Not sure what actual advantage this so called natural oestrogen gives actually. The drug only has to prove it is as good as others to get its licence. The SPC still lists history of DVTs or family history of DVT as a contra indication for taking this contraceptive. The NHS electronic library say that its associated with fewer spotting/bleeding days, a shorter lighter withdrawal bleed (monthly period) and it is COMPARABLE (i.e no better, no worse) than another pill with 20mcg of ethinyloestradiol and 100mcg of levenorgestrol in it. That is what they would call a low strength pill I guess. Perhaps I am a cynic but it strikes me pharmaceutical companies might just be bringing out slightly tweeked versions of items that they know are already profitable to gain a larger slice of the financial pie here. We have seen that done in the past. The idea of a more natuarl oestrogen appeals but this oestrogen has been chemically manufactured from something hasn ... so how natural is it really?
