I noticed that your BA is just a few days away, i hope it goes well and youve done really well packing in smoking like that, i never gave up before mine even had one on the morning before i went to the hospital! i wish i had of now, apparantly it slows down your recovery, and it prob true, im just over a week post op and still in quite a bit of pain, only got myself to blame! Anyway good luck let us know how it goes.

Hey well done, I have been stoped 1 year now, so I do no what it is like your mind is now already telling you you are not going to cope with this stressful time, it is trying to trick you, for me it was liek having a good and a bad person tlaking to me that sound strange but the bad one would say go on it wont hurt and it will help, Well it doesnt and you feel bad about yourselve after, dont have one, my father died last year from smoking that is why I gave up I could never let my children go through what i did and to see the tar come out of his body when he was dying, sorry to be horid about it that is the true facts about it 1 in 3 people will dy and while typing this in my office I wonder which one it will be haw sad that is, dont let this be you, keep going well done, dieting is the harder thing to do
"Smoking!"
Posted by traceyjanegale 14 February  at  10:44

Ah! The dreaded smoking!! I used patches for 4 days before I went in and I was doing ok. The day I left hospital - I got out the car after my 5hr journey home and lit up!! Smoked for 3days and regretted it and have been on the patches now for 3.5wks and feel great!! I am not getting short of breath just by walking to the office from the car park anymore!!

I DO struggle at times, I have to be honest but like you said - I am noticing a change in my skin already and keep looking at pictures of Pat Butcher in Eastenders and if that isn't enough to keep you going - I don't know what is!!!

Good luck hun!!
xx

Hi Serena, I had them under, i love them to bits but i have had a lot of pain, sleeping was the worst, but with lots of great advice from the girls on here i have had a few good nights sleep. And yes i am still smoking (silly girl) but i am defintly going to pack in, i have been so bored sat at home i dont think i could of coped without a fag. I am going back to work on monday and, as i work in a hospital, i cant smoke at work so i think ill go on the patches. Youre doing brilliant keep it up you will heal so much better and quicker if you not smoking. bet you cant wait for your op where are u having it done?.

"Well done "
Posted by sam2555 17 February  at  16:20

Well done for sticking to it.

I myself am a smoker and am aware that I will need to give up for BA. Don't know when my op will be, only have a consultation booked for March so will take it from there.

Bit scared about it all, but really excited. All I can think about is having a bust! Waited and waited for them to grow, but it just aint happening. The annoying thing as well is that both my Mum and sister have huge one's (just to rub it in) don't know what happened to mine

Have never tried giving up with patches or anything, but think I will need some help. x
"Thx"

I have already cut down this weekend - really going to try not to smoke this week - but already feel like I need to strangle someone!

You haven't got long to go - I wish I had a date set to work towards. Did you have 1 consultation or 2? x
"Cut down"
Posted by weeme 19 February  at  09:40

hey that gd that ya have cut down!! i know its not easy im still doing not to badly and funnily enough my moods have not been that bad this time and if i do feel a scream about to come on i get my mp3 player and go for a walk (if my hubbys at home for our son that is) if not we go out in the garden and find work to do but i much prefer the mp3 player!!!
i know i have got 4 more sleeps lol trying soooo so hard to slay calm!!!
i had my first consultaion over the fone (long story)but suited me fine!! and i had my 2nd a week later..i would think that u could ask if u could just have one if u have made ur mind up that u are definetly going ahead with it!!x
"Still going well"
Posted by sam2555 19 February  at  20:32

Ok - so I haven't given up, but I've taken the first step and really cut down. I only had 2 yesterday and same again today so really proud of myself.

I have definately made my mind up. I just hope they don't insist I go for a 2nd consultation. I don't want it drawn out for any longer than it has to be.

So, is it this Friday then? It will all be worth it, I think this is the hardest bit (the waiting).

Stay in touch x

"The best way to stop smoking"
Posted by zee14 4 May  at  22:13

I know of different people experiencing success and failure using all kinds of products and services. Some can give up smoking 60 or more a day without any help whatsoever and some people who've been smoking 20 a day or fewer use websites like www.saynotoitnow.co.uk to find the products and services to help them stop.

It's down to the individual - everyone's different.

I think it's best to just stop, rather than use any 'easy' method. If you want to stop, you will
