Help with drinking

Hi,

My husband has a serious drinking problem that affects our marriage, his job(which he lost) and everything else. He is 40 years old and has been drinking since I met him. I now summarise our marriage and it has been a day of heavy drinking, a day of not drinking, 3 days of drinking, 1 day not drinking etc... Now, after he lost his job, things have gone from bad to worse. He drinks heavily(about 10 pints of beer) 5 days out of seven, he`s started luying to me, he isn`t even capable of looking after our son. He admited that it`s a prolem that rocks our marriage, I know there`s lots of help out there, but what would work? He said he`ll just stop drnking(he`s said this a million times before!)and he thinks he could do it on his own. It really hurts seeing him drunk every day, espacially that there`s a two year old child involved.

We need help and advise ASAP, all quick response would be really helpful

I just read your message as I put my own similar message on the forum. How are things with you? What has happened?

I have been with my partner over 7 years now and although I really deeply love him I feel I cannot handle his drinking anymore.

Help with drinking

I tried stopping drinking alone but only managed about 2 or 3 days then went back to my old ways 1 or more bottles of wine a night.I bought a downloadable cd from David Allens site http://www.nip-hypnotherapy,Biz/default.asp page=3-3. Now drink has lost its grip on me,i still have the odd glass but never get drunk.Hope this helps.

Just joined this website and Im trying to give my wine up...I'll try this cd and let you know how I get on. Not doing so bad at the moment but its only been 4 days. It started at a couple of glasses a night then crept up to nearly a bottle of red every night....I feel ready to stop now.... eeekkkk!!!!

Hiya , how are you doing with the cd ?? I would like to give it a try, I have cut back a lot on wine but slip up every now and again !!! been really good this week , 2 x glasses per night , then got into a stressful situ lasr night and managed to sink a bottle and a half and feel dreadfull today, ashamed and very guilty plus having to go to work feeling like ****

I bought him the cd last tuesda, he`s listened to it and not had a drink since than. Which is amazing really, considering how quick this works.

Hope he keeps off, we`ve some friends coming over today, I`ll let u know how it goes.
