Re: putting weight on

Hi Lou00054, you are not alone...I am now 12 weeks with my first child. I have put on about half a stone so far. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Some girls will still be skinny minny's at 30 weeks, I know I am not one of them despite being a size 8-10 before I was pregnant. You just have to put it out of your mind and not worry about your weight too much over the next 8 months. Your body will do as it please's anyway. At least you can take comfort in the fact that it is normal. I try and concentrate on curling my hair or doing my make up nicely to give me a boost when I am feeling fat and crappy. Have you been having mood swings yet? I either feel really happy or really p*ssed off! xxxxxx

Whenever you are hungry between meals, eat fruit...

I know it isn't generally what you are craving - but I gave my self the choice of fruit or nothing - and I wasn't about to go around feeling hungry all the time so fruit it was. I ate *a lot* of fruit, all kinds. And when you are stuffed to the gills, its hard to have cravings. Still had my normal meals, but only ate fruit in between. Some people say don't eat certain kinds like bananas cause they are 'fattening' - ignore them, eat what you like - no volume of bananas will pile on the kilos like cheese, crisps or pastries!

The net effect is, not only have I become a fruit fiend (I used to NEVER eat it, now I crave it and eat lots every day - now by choice) but I am 36 weeks and have only put on 10kg, all my weight is in my (enormous) belly and my arms & legs pretty much look the same. And i am a short stocky type of eastern european blood - I am BORN to gain weight!

So all I can say is IT WORKS.

2 possibilities

Hi, congrats on your pregnancy, and on quitting smokeing.
Your weight gain may be one of 2 things...when a person quits smoking they usually use somethign else to ease the cravings for a smoke...yo might be using food for that, and therefore put on a pound. it also could be the baby, but you are really early to start gaining already, usually people loose weight due to the sickness they feel. I wouldnt worry about it to much, usually if you have gained to much weight, the docotrs will let you know that you need to do something to control it. Good luck and have fun xoxooxoxoxox

Same here

Hi, i'm 10 weeks and i have already put on almost 2 stone! i spoke to my midwife and she just laughed and said i'm lighter than her, but i'm now 13st!!!its taken me 5 years to lose most of the baby fat from my first baby, after his birth i went up to a size 20/22!from a 14!! i've decided to go swimming twic a week and eat even healthier, i just want labour to be a bit easier this time. my problem is that i feel sick all the time so i have to keep topped up as that stops me from retching only trouble is the i'm craving pastries!! what are you craving? jen

Fat comments from my boss!!!

Firstly, I can't believe it..I just wrote a comment and then pressed "Start again" by mistake! Arrrrrrrrggggh! Anyway, here it is again (deep irritating sigh!) I am 25 years old, 12 weeks with my first child. My boss at work has been making comments about my weight. If I take one measlly biscuit from the tin at work he feels compelled to mentioned how I will get fat if I keep eating them. If I have a bag of crisps with my lunch he will tut. Just last week he said "Oooo you are getting quite a belly aren't you...then again you had a belly before!" C*ck! Please someone tell me his isn't just me overeacting.....Jen

R u joking???

im sorry to say but ur boss sounds like a right d*ck. oh my god reading that i really want to swear!!!
the cheeky f**ker, u should shove the biscuit where the sun dont shine, a*se hole.
