My vaser liposuction experience - my diary - part 1

Hello all, my name is Dipen, and I am writing on here to share my Vaser Lipo experience with all you. When I was looking at Vaser, I researched all the doctors, and forums like this one proved to be invaluable to me, and I hope I can share some useful guidance for any of you thinking about having Vaser Lipo. Over the coming few weeks, I will be sharing my story with you.

I am 24 years old, and I weigh around 13 stone 10 pounds. I would consider myself slightly overweight, but when I have my clothes on, I would say I am average. However, like all of you out there, I crave to have a perfect body, that I am proud of, and that I can show off and be proud about.

About 3 years ago, I had the latest treatment at the time to lose weight which was "Smart Lipo" and it was literally just introduced into the UK, and I went to one of the first practioners who was using it. I remember paying around £3000 for the treatment, and that was literally my savings, and I was promised all sorts. The experience was pain free literally, after it the treatment I could walk, and i had very little pain. I waited a day, a month, a year, and I had no results. I went back to the doctor in question who tried to justify it had worked, and tried to show me with his pictures and it was clear that I had not lost any fat at all. He agreed to do the treatment again at half price, but at £1500, I decided to steer clear, and go to the gym and work hard and diet. I must also say that I have read so many articles about people just like me who have used Smart Lipo in the past and he did not work. It works if you have a model body, and you have a tiny area of fat, but not in most cases, and did not work for me at all.

Working out and dieting sounds so easy in practise but in reality to those of us who work silly hours it is so damn hard to diet, and work out, and even when you do have time, you always make an excuse and that is exactly what I did. I then saw an advert for Vaser Lipo on the internet and that intrigued me. I read so many people who had tried Smart Lipo and had no success and they had used Vaser and it had worked miracles. I was intrigued and I investigated further. I went to 2 clinics in London, the first was a Dr Wolfe. This clinic markets a "free consultation", so I booked it as I am based in London. I took the day off, and went there. I was kept waiting for over 45 minutes, and went I did finally get seen, I was seen by a nurse and not Dr Wolfe whom I was meant to see. I felt insulted because I wanted to see the doctor in charge and not a nurse who could tell me if I was suitable or not. I was then told pay £100+ for a consultation with Dr Wolfe, and I didnt feel comfortable at all. I left shortly after. I then went to another clinic in London, and again I did not feel at ease with their practise.

I then started researching Vaser on the internet, and I found a doctor called Dr Bassi who was based in Nottingham at the Selston Clinic. At first, I tried to find doctors in London as driving to Nottingham is a 2 hour drive each way, and it is so much easier to find someone in London. However, lots of people were talking about Dr Bassi, and he puts genuine pictures of his actual patients on his site, whereas all other websites were using generic pictures of the same patients that clearly were not their own.

After deciding that Dr Bassi sounded like a great prospect, I contacted Selston Clinic where he works, and requested for more information. To my surprise, Dr Bassi actually called me back personally, and talked me through the whole procedure. I felt so reassured because he took the time to call me, and didnt ask his secretary to call me. He offered an incredibly personal service, and I felt at ease with him. He was very honest with what he could achieve.

He explained to me, that I would need 3 areas done, area one would be the main stomach, area two would be the breasts area, and area three would be the sides. He recommended booking them 2 weeks apart was best. His diary was so full, I had to wait 1 month for the first appointment, and I knew if I had the first treatment done, I would have to wait 1 month to get another appointment for the second treatment, so I took the risk and booked all 3 treatments, 2 weeks between each.

I turned up to Selston Clinic on the 20th May 2009 for my 1st treatment which was for my main stomach region. I sat in the waiting room, and Dr Bassi arrived literally within 5 mins, and welcomed me. I felt so much at ease with him, he talked to me, and told me all about Vaser in general and showed me a video. I went into his consultation room where I took off my shirt so he could see what he could do. With the stomach area you can either have normal Vaser, or Vaser Ultra Def which really defines your body. He told me that because I did have a bit of excess weight, he would do normal Vaser on me, and he would try for Ultra Def as well, but he would charge me the standard price, not the Ultra Def price which is more.

He drew all the markings on my body, took pictures, and then we went into the treatment room. In there he was assisted by a lovely lady called Mags. She was very warm and humble. I lay on the bed whilst he started the treatment. First he put in the anaesthetic into my stomach to numb my body completly. That generally takes anything from 15-30 mins. Then he started to use Vaser to melt the fat. The anaesthetic was a little bit painful, and I did need to take a few big breathes, but, it was over very quickly. It was also nice to have Mags there as well, as she held my arm and kept asking if I was ok. I didnt feel alone at all, and she made the experience so much easier. The vaser didnt hurt at all, as I literally couldnt feel it. Then the fat was sucked out, and then Dr Bassi shaped my stomach. The whole treatment took about 2 hours in general. After the anaesthetic you barely feel anything, and it is all not that painful. After the treatment, Mags helped me get up, and washed my body, and padded up my body where they had used the Vaser. She then helped me get changed. It was so nice to have someone so caring and genuine there, and I feel very much at ease with her.

Hi

I have read your story and find it really interesting your last message was back in June how would you say your results are now ?

Im due to have my consultation this week at selston and hoping they can get me in as soon as possible i was just wondering if you have seen much of a difference from now to when you had just had it done.

My friend had it done and she might aswel have not bothered she had amaizing results with Dr Bassi i couldnt believe it but after a few weeks she let her diet slip and got a bit cocky thinkin she could just eat a bit of this and a bit of that and before she knew it , well you can say it was a complete waist of time for her and money .

My vaser liposuction experience - my diary - part 4

Dear All,

On Friday 19th June, I had my the love handles (the sides done). My sides are really big, and this was meant to be the marathon of a job to do.

I had my breast area done 3rd June, and hardly suffered from any discomfort. It takes about a day to recover, and no real pain after. This was by far the easiest area that I have had to date, and I wish every area was as easy as the breasts.

On Friday 19th, I turned up at Selston Clinic ready for the love handles. My love handles are around 2 times the size of my abdomen, and, I knew this was going to take a long time to do. Dr Bassi started the treatment, and of course I asked him for a LOT of anesthetic so that I could not feel the vaser and the sucking out of the fat. The treatment went quite well, but Dr Bassi had to use 4 bags of anesthetic (I think it was 4 litres), and that is really the limit. He did the front of the sides, and the actual sides as well. In all he removed nearly 2 containers of fat - that was discusting to see. Apparently some people like to take their fat home with them - I couldnt even look at mine.

In all, treatment went well. I still have fat on the back of my sides, and I have made another appointment with Dr Bassi in early September for that Vaser. This will be my last Vaser. This area is pretty small, so I expect it will only take 1 hour - touch wood.

Dr Bassi told me that Asian people have low pain thresholds in general, and thats why he needed so much anesthetic on Friday. The reason why he could not complete the whole back of the love handles is because he had used the limit of anesthetic and also removed nearly 2 full containers of fat, and it is dangerous to have anymore anesthetic into the body.

Procedure went well, I had relatively little pain most of the time, and both him & Mags were brilliant as normal. The procedure was about 3 hours long, and I really want it to be over as soon as possible, but, Dr Bassi wouldnt stop until he was 100% perfect. The thing with Selston Clinic and Dr Bassi is that they will not just do part of one area, for example my love handles, he could have just removed the major area where the fat is (and that is what the clinics in London do), he actually removes all the fat in that entire area, above and below it, and really gives the body an amazing shape and figure. When I stood up after the treatment, I was so glad it was over, but he kept looking at my body, and he wasnt happy. So, he used the Vaser for another 5 minutes. He couldnt have easily said enough is enough, but he is a perfectionist and really cares about getting the best results.

I have found though when you pump the body with anesthetic, it all comes out, looking like blood, but, it is really all the anesthetic that has been pumped into the body. I have been bleeding all of Friday, and today is Saturday, and I am still bleeding! I just want it to stop.

Pain wise, I am in pain, but it is not as bad as the abdomen, which is really painful, and I couldnt not bend down for a few days. The pain will subside in 2-3 days I hope, and bleeding should stop today. Results at a first glance look amazing, but the real test will be when I remove all the padding in 6 days time. I cant wait until that happens.

If anyone wants any help, you can message me through this site, or just post a message up. I hope my diary update has been interesting.

My vaser liposuction experience - my diary - part 2

After getting changed I went back to Dr Bassi's office where he gave me clear instructions on what to do next. Dr Bassi stressed that he can make me look good on the outside, but I needed to change my diet and stick to a good diet and keep losing weight to aid this treatment. He recommended a book to buy, and put me on Xenical. After the treatment, I could walk quite easily, and sit down as well, but the transition between standing up and sitting down was painful. Luckily I had a friend who had taken me to Nottingham, so I didnt have to drive, I relaxed in the car.

When I got home, I changed my pads straight away as there was blood/anaesthetic/fat coming out. I also forgot to mention, I had a zimmer suit which I wear over the pads which helps my body shape, and then I wear my clothes over that. I was told for a week to keep padding under the zimmersuit, and after that, to massage my body with Bio Oil.

After I removed the pads after 7 days and started massaging with Bio Oil I could see how much fat I had lost. I was so happy, and what a difference. My stomach wasnt thin or perfect, but it was so much better, I had lost so much fat, and my stomach felt bumpy - which it is is meant to feel for a few months after. However, I couldnt believe the difference.

Generally, the first 1-2 days, your body does feel sore, but it gets better. The bleeding stops after 1 day generally, and about 5 days after the treatment the pain subsides. After 7 days, I was literally back to normal. After 14 days, I was 100% back to normal, and ready to go back to Dr Bassi.

On the 3rd June 2009, I went to Dr Bassi for my next treatment. He couldnt believe my results, and said he was delighted. He also told me that this is only 20% of what I will achieve, I will still lose more and more, and to keep using the Bio Oil, and watch the progress. I had also been following a low calory diet, and had lost around 8 pounds. I had Vaser done on the breasts area. This was a shorter procedure than the stomach, it took roughly just over an hour, and pretty much the same experience as the treatment before. However, it was a lot less painful, and after the treatment, I didnt feel much pain at all.

I went home, and changed the padding, and I felt no pain literally whatsoever. I had painkillers, but the pain was a lot less, maybe because this is my 2nd treatment, and I was used to it.

Your vaser lipo

Hi Dipen, i have been reading about your experiences which are really helpful. I just wanted to know how much it cost you to have your stomach done. I read earlier that for prices it is better to ring the clinic directly but i just wanted a rough price of what he charged/charges per area.

I have my consulation next week. Will let you know how i got on.

Thanks

Response to bexsta

Thanks for your message.

If you want Ultra Def on your Abdomen it is £3,000, or normal on your abdomen is £2,500. Each additional area is chareged at £1800.

Let me know how you get on with the pricing.

Dipen

Thanks for replying

Hi Dipen,

Thanks for replying. I had my consultation today and to have my abdomen both lower and upper plus flanks would cost £3000. I have to buy my own compression garment and take with me some padding for after the surgery, was told to buy thick sanitary towels as they would be fine. They will provide painkillers which i have to start taking before the surgery and I have been asked to pay £500 upfront, cash or cheque as they don't accept card payments and the balance on the day of surgery. I have also been advised that i may need to wear the compression garment for up to 4 weeks. How does all this sound to you?

Vaser lipo

Hi,
it was good to read your experience of vaser. Like yourself I had hangups about my body, in particular my inner thighs and knees and have also put on a couple of stone which doesn't help although I'm now on a strict diet. I have always had very big knees and for years would never wear a skirt and if I did I would always make sure it was well below my knees. My knees were the worst, they made me so paranoid for years, just seemed to be huge, great big bit that stuck out on the inside of each knee and no matter how hard I dieted it never seemed to go, to me they just appeared to be so wide and fat, also fat hanging over on the front of the knee.
Like yourself I did my research and came across Dr Bassi and could find nothing but positive things about the clinic so made my self an appointment. Everything I read said it was virtually pain free, far better than lipo etc and minimal downtime. I travelled down from Glasgow to have this done on Wednesday there (10th June) . Dr Bassi and Mags were great, cannot fault them, so professional and warm, as you say, they explained everything and made me feel at ease although I'm starting to think that I must have some sort of low pain threshold. I had my inner thighs and knees done and I found the whole experience very painful esp the anaesthetic. He did my right leg first and I have to say this was the most painful as I had to keep stopping him when he was vasering it as the burning was unbearable so he had to keep pumping more anaesthetic in, althought he was brilliant about this, he told me not to lie there and suffer and just to say to him if I needed more put in. . I think I broke poor mag's hand from all the squeezing. When he did the left leg he used more anaesthetic than he had on the right one and it was much better although he said he had used more than he normally would on the leg area. But he did say a lot of fat came out, I filled one of the containers to the top and was getting to halfway on the 2nd one, plus there was quite a lot on the floor . He Seemed to be quite surprised by the amount that came out but was pleased with it . Took about 3 hours all in. Never got started till about 5pm and by time I was cleaned up and dressing on etc it was well after 8pm when I left the clinic. Unfortunately I had to catch a flight home at 7am the very next morning. Dr Bassi had given me painkillers before I left. When I woke up at 4am to catch flight I was in quite a bit of pain but only when I stood up and had been leaking quite badly. Luckily my partner had came with me and we tried to change the main dressings that were sarturated just so I could get home but was so painful trying to shove them down the support garment I had on. Was a stuggle getting home as I can't bend my legs going up and down stairs, in cars etc. Only time I'm not in pain is when I'm either standing up and not moving or lying down. It hurts to walk so walking very very slowly as can't bend the legs. It's now about 40 hours since treatment and I'm still in pain trying to walk. Once I sit down it's fine but it's the getting up and sitting or lying down that really hurts. Was just wondering how long this might last. I'm also not too sure when to have a shower as have not actually taken the support garment off yet, just pulled it down to put new dressings in but very sore. I'm worrying that I've not cleaned my wounds yet but to be honest I'm not sure whether it would be too painful to have water touching it. Luckily I took the rest of the week off work but am worrying about monday when I go back as it's still painful and hard to walk. Sitting and lying is perfectly fine, don't feel a thing just the actual doing it that causes a problem. Could be the fact as I mentioned earlier that he had to use so much anaesthtic on me and there was a lot of fat which came out and it took longer than normal because of this . I notice you said that after about 5 days the pain went so I'm hoping this is the case with me as looking at other people's experiences they seemed to have very little problems and were able to return to work after about 2 days. There's no way I could go to work right now . Any advice would be helpful . Think I must just have a low pain threshold as I couldn't fault the work or treatment I received by Dr Bassi and Mags, they were brilliant and so helpful and even throught the support garment and dressings my knees look so much smaller than they were although my inner thighs are still swollen right now ... .

Response to twright2

Hey Twright2,

I did say Dr Bassi, and Mags were both great. I remember when I first had my stomach area done, and like you, I found the pain really unbearable, and I kept telling Dr Bassi. He was so cool about it, he just kept putting lots and lots of anaesthetic and there was no pain. When I had the breasts area done, I told him please just put as much anaesthetic as possible, and go over board so I do not feel anything, and I literally did not feel the vaser.

Generally, I find that you are sore in which ever body part for approx 3-5 days. The first 1-2 days are the hardest. When you remove the padding on day 7, and start applying the bio oil the pain is hardly there. You will feel discomfort, but hardly any pain whatsoever. Today is June 13th, and it is 10 days since I have the Vaser on the breasts area. I feel virtually zero pain, and I can sleep so easily.

Just be tough. I remember Dr Bassi told me 5 mins of Vaser is like 3 months in the gym or something like that, so, you just have to grit the discomfort but you will get a great result. After meeting Dr Vassi and Mags you can see how professional they are - Dr Bassi will not stop using the Vaser device until all the fat is taken out. He is a true professional, and in my opinion the best person who offers Vaser in the UK.

Vaser

Hi Dipen
Thanks for getting back to me and for your advice. It's now day 7. Looking forward to not having to wear the dressings under my support garment anymore. Will be taking them out this evening for the last time. Think that's what's causing most of my pain. When I have been taking them off and having a shower it's not painful to walk just tender to touch the affected area when washing but when I put my clean garment back on with new dressings underneath down the insides of both legs that's when it becomes sore, obviously the pressure on the bruised legs from the support. Still hard to walk like this or bend and esp trying to get my legs in to car -that hurts but it's bearable. Went back to work this week - Mon, but was so uncomfortable & sore to be there sitting all day, when I was getting home in the evenings my legs, ankles and feet were swelling up quite badly so just been lying down in the evenings to try and take the pressure of them then by next morning the swelling is down but same things happens again after another day in work. Looking forward to my last day with dressings. Hopefully it will be better without them with not so much pressure on my legs. Don't get me wrong, def not as painful as last week but think will take slightly longer to heal.
Dr Bassi called me a few days ago to see how I was and offer advice etc and he said it's because he had to go so deep with my knees and inside legs that I have a lot of tenderness and pain, that puts my mind at rest because I was wondering why I was different to other people who seemed to be not too bad after a few days . Cannot fault the aftercare either. When I came home I had mags on the phone the next day then the day after Dr Bassi called me to offer advice etc and he said he would call on a very regular basis to make sure everything is okay as I'm so far away and to offer advice etc and that it's important I go and see him in 4 months to make sure everything is okay and i have the desired results.
So gritting the discomfort and baring it, the results will be worth it. Can already see my knees smaller and am delighted, can't tell with inner thighs yet as pretty swollen but am sure once everything settles and after some time they will be great .. Good luck on your next procedure this Friday

Response to twright2

Dear Twilight,

Treatment went well on Friday. I am going to post up my latest update just now.

The pain is hard for the first 2-3 days normally, then it does get easier. Just take the painkillers, I take Co-codamal which works I think, or its in my head. Either way, it does help.

Let me know how you get on.

My vaser liposuction experience - my diary - part 3

You are allowed to have a shower whenever you want, so when you do, you just remove the padding, and take off your zimmersuit. I didnt do this on the 1st day, as I was bleeding, I had my 1st shower 48 hours after.

Today is the Friday 5th, and when I had a shower, I could not believe how amazing my breasts looked. They were so well defined, no fat, and felt so smooth. I was looking at myself in the mirror, and I couldnt believe. I was really happy. I still have a long way to go, I have my next treatment on the 19th June 2009 which is for my sides, so I cant wait to get that over and done with, and get my dream body.

With Vaser Lipo, it is not a cheap treatment, but at the end of the day, you only live once. For me, I could barely afford the treatment, I had to save for a long time to afford it, but, in life you have to be happy, and I have never been happy with my body. To me, spending money on Vaser for a nice body is more important than going away on holiday, because it matters that much to me. I was impressed with Dr Bassi, because he doesnt stop the treatment until he is 100% satisfied. He keeps checking the area, and asked Mags so many times if it was ok, and if it wasnt, he would continue until he was 100% sure. I liked that in him, and it shows dedication.

I hope that this will help lots of people in their research about Vaser. If anyone wants any information, please do post on here, and I will try my best to help you. When I was looking at Vaser, there was lots of odds bits and pieces about the treatment, but nothing specific, and that is what I wanted to see - so I hope my experience does help those out there.

Regards,
Dipen

Hi

Hi Dipen,

Great diary Thanks for posting it.

I was very close to booking conventional lipo in Brussels when I discovered Vaser. I'm very encouraged by your's and others experienece with Dr Bassi and have emailed the clinic for more info.
I hope I'm not being too nosy but how much did you pay for 3 areas, also will they do more than 3 areas or can you go back for more.

Thanks in advance & good luck with the body of your dreams
Helen

Response to helen

Hi Helen,

Sorry for the late reply. I didnt see your message.

I would always recommend going to a renowned practioner who perform Vaser rather than going outside the UK, and saving your money. I did my research when doing Vaser, and in my opinion, I went to the best person in the UK who performs this treatment, and after meeting him I still hold this view.

Dr Bassi is a very honest person, and he will tell you exactly what you need. I needed 3 areas, and so far I have had 2 done. It is best you call Dr Bassi up directly for prices. He offers a very personal service, and should even call you back directly.

Remember, my body is the most important thing to me, as I am sure it is to you, thats why you are thinking of Vaser... So, if you are going to spend the money, go to one of the best places that offers this treatment. If you look on most websites who offer Vaser they actually show you generic pictures that I am not even sure are real. On Selston website, all the pictures are of genuine patients. I have also seen so many more in Dr Bassis office when I was there last week.

I would recommend seeing him for sure, but you may have to wait as he is very busy and full booked.

Vaser lipo

Hey, thanks for yur message. You do get sore for a couple of days, but, you just have to think about other things. Remember nothing is free in life, you have to work for something, and this treatment does give you a dream body, so you just have to ride out the first few uncomfortable days.

The garment is ok. I do get very hot as well. During the day it is ok, as I can wear a T Shirt and tracksuit bottoms, and I generally have a window open for fresh air. Likewise when I sleep, I have a fan by my bed as well, that really helps. The garment is fantastic though because it really supports your body, and when you remove it to have a shower, you will see what I mean. Having a shower or going to the restroom is harder - you have to remove the garment, and it does take longer than normal. But.. then again, look at the gain versus the extra hard work? Its no competition to be honest.

I saw an immediate improvement. When I had it on my stomach, Dr Bassi pinched my stomach to show me all the lose skin, and said to me, this will all go. 2 weeks later it was gone, and I am only showing a 20% improvment of what I am likely to get.

I think you do gradually get results over say 4-6 months, but everyday, when I wake up, I tend to unzip the garment in the morning in bed for a few minutes so I can touch my stomach, and see how smooth it feels, and how much fat I have lost haha. Its a nice feeling.

Just follow the instructions, use bio oil everyday, at least 2 times a day, massage the area, and diet as well. I am using Xenical with a low calory diet, so my eating is very well controlled. I have lost about 9 pounds in total, and dieting really helps, as I still feel a little sore to exercise.

I hope this all helps. Stick with it.

Dipen

Hey

Hey Ffisnudge,

Im ok, not that much pain. My stomach area is not hurting much. I am still tender, but thats meant to be the case for sometime. I just apply the bio oil, and I am seeing the improvements everyday. Its quite exciting.

My garment is not so bad either, it has the hooks, and then the zipper onto of the hooks.

Who did you do the Vaser with? Was it Dr Bassi?

Apparently after a week, your gain is minimal compared to what you can expect in coming months, so you should see greater improvements in the coming few weeks. Let me know how it all goes.
