I need a diet!

Hi there!
I am 21 years old, about 5'9" and almost 12 stone
It all seems to settle on my thighs and my stomach and I want to get down to about 9 and a half to 10 stones by the summer for my holidays
My problem is, I don't get a lot of exercise - I work long hours you see, and the gym really isn't for me. I love swimming but my local pool is uncompatible with opening times, and I can't motivate myself to work out at home. Any suggestions?

Re food, I don't eat sweet things like chocolate, but I crave savoury things like pasties etc.Is there anything wrong with me!!? And I work in a bar and usually wind down after a shift by going out so have alot of alcohol intake, just can't relax if I drink coke when I'm out.

I'm at a loss and think I need some encouragement and motivation as well as suggestions so please help!!!

Strengths: can avoid sweets, crisps, chocs etc
Weaknesses: lager, cheese, pasta, creamy sauces, chinese and Indian food!

How to lose weight

I think the best way to lose weight would be to eat every 5 hours. Eat two pieces of fruits with your meal and one of the fruit has to be an apple. Eat salad at lunch and dinner. Eat cereal with yogurt at breakfast. Dont eat any morning tea, afternoon tea or dessert. Only have three meals per day. Make sure you have at lease 2 3 hours of exercise but dont over do yourself. If you feel really hungry and it is not lunch time yet then drink plenty of water because then you will not feel hungry. Always drink 2l of water everyday so it can clean out your stomach. On the weekends try to take part in many sports activity or at lease try to be active.

This is exactly what I did and I lost 11kg in 2 months, I went from a size 18 to a size 14.

Well done!!

11kg in 2 months is great!! Your diet sounds good, although I always need to have a snack late in the afternoon...but I usually have either fresh fruit or yogurt!
I'm really busy at the moment (university exams in September!) so I've had to stop doing exercise. I'll start again as soon as I can. I've been thinking about going to the swimming pool. I find going to the gym soo boring!!

Hi

Hi
I am sorry to say that the only solution is to change your eating habits. I know its tough. I Practically live on Cheese and mayo. Eventhough the rest of my diet is healthy I still gained wight. Now I have stopped eating that and I am starting to loose some pounds. Dieting isn't for me but I have started to go to the gym. If that isn't for you maybe you can walk to work or cycle? Life isn't fair is it?

The job ahead of you is never greater than the power behind you!

If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it.
First things first:
And the first thing is a healthy diet.
Breakfast is your most important
meal: In the morning, eat like a queen; in the afternoon like a princess; in the evening like a pauper!
Late meals and snacks are what destroy all your efforts to achieve your goal of getting where you want to be.
Second: Boiled, broiled. Never fried!
Fried foods are loaded with saturated fats and contribute to
heart desease.A red light should go on.
Third: You don't have to run a marathon. A nice brisk walk in the morning is all you really need if you adhere to the first two rules. also, hid the auto keyes on your days off. Don't drive to the corner post; walk.
Recently I have spied new tores and places on my block which I never knew existed. Walking can open up a whole new world.
One more thing. Take the time to sit down and write out your goals. Promise yourself where you hope to be and what you hope to achive by a certain date. And stick to it.
Good luck,
-Skymuffin-

Greetings from fiji!!

hi!so what are you doi'n to cut on your weight? for me,i loose weight by training every tuesday, thursday, and saturday.I swim for the ikavuka {flying fish} club back in fiji.I'm very tall but a little bit thick. you should try yoga,or try waking up at 4am in the morni'n and do a little jog around da block.if that doesn't work just have a little time to yourself to do push-ups,or seat-ups.I use to do karate, but i found it very tiring so i gave up just last year{2004}.please if you wanna tell me more information about your diet just email superstar@yahoo.com

We'll motivate you!

If you know the things you are capapble of cutting out, then cut them out and as your willpower grows, you will find it easier to cut creamy pasta carbonara down to once a week or so...
It's really hard, I know, but once you strat to see results, you'll feel so much more motivated.
I saw an article in the slimming section with about 10 different diets to choose from, it looked really good. (But I don't think Atkins is the way forward)

Alcohol

I think alcohol cuould be your main problem - I stopped drinking to try for a baby and really noticed the difference to my waistline... obviously this didn't last very long as I became pregnant quite soon afterwards, but you get the point!!
