Underactive thyroid gland

Hi everyone,
I was diagnosed with having an underactive thyroid 3 years ago...Before I was diagnosed I found my weight balooned, I was fatigued and my short term memory was also affected, I found that I would repeat myself atleast 5 times in an hour...as you can imagine it left me feeling very low....especially since I was working in a counselling & Information service which meant that I needed to retain information for my job..Once I was diagnosed the doctor put me on 25mg tablets ....I have now been put up to 75mg....I do find that the tablets work but the only thing is I find that I do get days where I am symptomatic again...I do have Anaemia aswell which doesnt help...It kind of sucks that we have to pop pills for the rest of our lives to keep us in the land of the living.....I was checking out the boards and I noticed that people were talking about Kelp...DO you know whether it is safe to take Kelp with Thyroid Medication? Are there any specific foods that I can eat which could help me along? Any information would be appreciated...

"underactive thyroid"

I was diagnosed in 2005 at age 60 just after giving up smoking, so I had both to deal with. I started on 50micros but am now on 125. Each stage takes 6 weeks to get in to your bloodstream, so could take some time to get you up to your level. I am now 64 and full of energy, my Mother at 83 and on 200 is also full of energy!! The problem I now have is that I am 2 stone heavier, a combination of giving up smoking and the Thyroid. I have read a few messages on this site and I am going to try the Star Diet tablets and the HGT18. It won't take long for you to get to your correct dosage, then you will feel much better. Just keep feeling positive.

Underactive thyroid gland and health supplements

well, maybe u shouldn't risk taking it. you know both contains chemicals. we might not know what will happen or how safe it can be when the two are mixed together..

Have you tried on maybe taking health supplements. Natural ones that contains no chemicals or anything. We should try keep our body more healthy than trying to worsen it.

Maybe you can try search for natural health supplement which help with your mood, attitude, and diet.. you can try HG T18.. and see how.

Underactive thyroid

Hi Paula,
I read your message today and thought I would reply. I have suffered from an underactive thyroid for 3 years. I was overactive for a few years then I stopped smoking and was on medication to lower my levels and then I went underactive. My mum is also underactive. Did you know thyroid disorders are hereditary? I would like to become your friend and chat about our condition. It`s hard trying to explain to people who don`t understand what your going through. My email address is carcoop620@yahoo.com contact me anytime you need to talk.

Underactive thyroid

Hi Leanne
I know how you feel Leanne. You know your own body and can usually tell when something is wrong before a blood test confirms it. Has the doctor put you on any medication? Anytime you want to talk about it email me at carcoop620@yahoo.com

Hi, just read your letter and i'm in the same position as you except I take 200mg of Thyroxine a day and have just started taking kelp with it. I am unable to exercise as I have had major surgery on my spine this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as it really is a last resort for me now. Please let me know if you start taking it and if you reep any benefits. Good luck
