lighter life???
Hi I've been interested in reading about this Lighter Life phenonoman! But decided I'm not going to be 'sucked in' and follow it as reading all the comments it appears that most people put the weight back on once they fall off the wagon, even for a short while. Sounds like a rip off to me. Notice a lot of people saying they use the meal replacements then have a meal, sounds like Slimfast, which would be a lot cheaper. In fact I have a couple of tins of Slimfast in my cupboard, so shall try that, at least you can look forward to a meal a day.
I'm feeling sorry for all those people who have failed on this cos I look at success stories, i.e. Mrs Bowen recently and you would think it is like a miracle, but don't think so!!! So I won't be doing it! Good luck to you anyway.

"there is no such thing as miracles"
something made you start lighter life, and something kept you going cos you lost all that weight. Its not a miracle, it's bloody hard work believe me im on cambridge diet. When i get to my goal, i will NEVER look back,i will have to much to loose. The key is everything in moderation. It just depends how much you want it, as to how hard you work to keep it.Noone here can answer your question correctly, only you.Sit down and think about why you want to be slim, what youre going do to get there and most of all how youre gonna change your life, so you dont fall off that WONKY wall your sitting on!

Hello everyone
I joined LL last august and have lost 4 stone so far, but christmas has been a nightmare and I need to get a grip now! Many people have regained the weight, did any of you do route to management? Im not at that stage yet but It worries me that the weight goes back on so easily. I havent found it easy at all Ive struggled all the way through but Im totally thankful for the councelling and I now accept I have an addiction.

That sound familiar
I did lighter life for a grueling 11 months 3 years ago. I did everything by the book never cheated not even on my birthday . I also didi the management programe. When i started lighterlife i weighed 22 stone within the 11 months i lost 11 1/2 stones yes i hear you say a whole person. I started to intoduce food and then started to eat small meals. no more than all the others in my slim family. I piled on the weight and then some i am now an un happy 25 stone and have just started to seek the help of a hypnotherapist. i have got 3 close friends who have all tryed and failed with lighterlife.
It is not you that has failed it is the diet that has failed you. As for going back on to lighterlife I dont know anyone who has been able to go back on to it full time.

Avoid ll at all costs
I just wanted to say that I had a similar experience to you. I lost 5 stone but ended up putting most of it back on and everyone in the group I was in put weight back on when they started eating again. i think LL have the right idea re adding in counselling but it wasnt good enough - it was very patronising and obviously didnt help any of my group! all i think this horrific meal replacement diet served to do was to put my body in a state of 'famine' shock. i am sure my metabolic rate has been affected. it seemed like a miracle to lose the weight but i regret doing it now. You ll experience
Hello, I hope you don't mind me emailing. I'm a freelance journalist working on various newspapers and women's mags. The Sun health section is currently looking for women who've tried Lighter Life but didn't manage to keep the weight off. Would you be interested in taking part? It would involve a chat on the phone and some pics. You'd receive a fee for your time and trouble. Please email me on: k.harden@talk21.com if you're interested. Thanks, Kerry

Lighter life
I have recently tried to enter LighterLife it looks like a great scheme. However, I have been denied entry based on my Epilepsy something I deeply resent, I have not even been allowed to let my DR look at it. It is deeply frustrating as LL's program is a ketogenic diet and I have been on a Ketogenic aged 14 with no detriment to health, the diet itself was actually part of my treatment. I would like to know what the LL program asks your Dr and how the medical side of LL works. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Stick to low carbs when eating real foods
Ketosis is a very important part of LL and being in Ketosis helps you not to feel so hungry. It's probably best if you're going to have evening meals while on LL to have a low carb meal. Get the South Beach diet, Atkins diet or any Low carb diet books etc, so that you can know what meals are best to eat to keep you in Ketosis and still lose weight.
Hope this helps!

You can do it!!!
I also lost 51/2 stone on Lighter life in 6months. I have only ever put a stone back on but it took about 13 days to do so. I tend to do lighter life in the day and then have a meal- but I do regularly exercise to help me. When I am trying to get back into Ketosis I use exercise to flip me back into it quicker- this is just what works for me. I don't eat much carbohydrates because I know I am carbo sensitive. Did you undertake management?
If not, go back to your counsellor. But you have done it once so you have enough data for yourself that you can do it again. Don't give up!

Can anyone tell me....
....if lighter life is safe to do if I am trying for a baby? I have to loose some(lots of) weight and obviously want to do this as quickly as possible so my chances of conceiving increase. Has anyone used LL for this purpose?
Carla.

The good the bad of ll
I have to be honest and say LL is one of the worst diet I have come across:- 1. Its not the most healthiest way to lose weight. 2. Its impossible to stick to a complete liquid diet(we were given teeth to chew, bite and enjoy our food) 3.Its denying your body of essential food such fruits and vegetables. 4.YOUR BODY GOES IN TO STARVATION MODE 5.AND YOU END UP PUTTING ON MORE WEIGHT AS SOON AS YOU START EATING AGAIN. Best to start a lifestyle change of healthy eating and regular exercise thats the only ! LL is just a quick fix and all quick fixes don't last . LL is just a waste of good money your better off buying good healthy food and a pair of good trainers and start running. Take care and good luck ! Navy x

Lighter life - the highs and lows
I started LL in Feb 2007 and lost 7 stone by the end of October - I stopped not because I had reached my goal weight but because I wanted a break for birthdays, Christmas and to live. I am now back on the programme - having gained a stone over four months. If you stick to the rules, if you walk the 10,000 steps a day - measure them with the pedometer you were given in week 2 - if you weigh your portions, you will keep the weight off.
For people who are thinking of starting the programme, don't just go and get weighed - stay for the sessions - I found these really usefull and we had a good group who were willing to share their problems. It isn't a cure all, but at least you can recognise your mistakes when you start to make them again (which you almost certainly will). Yes, there is some hair loss - it's very common with a Very Low Calorie Diet. The diet is hard - not because of the low calories but because of boredom - I didn't like some of the soups - and I like more variety in my diet. When I reach target, I will follow management - I will still go to the weekly sessions until I am more confident in my own ability not to overeat consistently.
I have had the unfailing support of my GP in this and LL has saved my life literally.

Looking for a lighterlife buddy
Read your message, I did LL from March to Aug last year and lost 4 1/2 stone. I too have been on and off that damn wall and can't remember putting so much weight on so quickly before - I have put 2 1/2 stone back on. So far, efforts to get back on the programme have been half hearted, but I have taken the bull by the horns and joined the group again, hoping this will spur me on- I'm actually starting today.
Just wondering how you have done?
