Lighter life
I started lighter life at the beginning of February 07 with the intention of following the programme through to Maintenance and having well over 8 stone to lose. I lost 4.5 stone in the 3 months of the foundation stage. Unfortunately a close friend died and there were other priorities in my life and I stopped the programme. I used the new life skills and confidence I had gained in the foundation stages over the next 3 months and continued to be active, cycling, swimming and walking and eating a healthily. I managed to maintain my weight to within 4lbs and recently re-embarked on the lighter life programme again to continue through to achieving my ultimate goal. I have never felt a social leper and have always maintained an active social life regardless of being on the LL programme. So far this time round I have lost 1.5 stone with just over 3 to go. I am very pleased with the programme and its been a success for me and opened my eyes to how I previously abused food, however we are all ultimately different and i appreciate its not for everyone. I will continue on - so watch this space!!

I'm about to start cd on tuesday and have heard that when you have reached your ideal weight, choosing weight watchers meals with low calories and puting salad and veg with them could help to maintain your weight. I think you just have to use the new life skills like you did ,it just shows that works . good luck for getting to your goal .

Beware lighter life
Where I live lots of women are on lighter life and they have all eventually put the weight back on some even incurred hair loss .This diet is very drastic and what they call ketosis is your body eating into its fat stores because it goes into shock on the measly 500 calories a day and then as soon as you eat again your body will hold on to that food anf store it as fat Im sorry but the only way to lose weight is to eat 1500-2000 calories a day exercise regularly to work of at least 500 calories then when you do get to your ideal weightyou dont have to eat rabbit food without treats I used to be heavy but have maintained my weight with exercise I walk cycle use the gym as alast resort dont eat junk in the week no alcohol but treat myself at weekends if I CAN DO IT AS AN UNDER ACTIVE THYROID CHOCAHOLIC ANY ONE CAN

Ligher life
I joined lighterlife in June 2007 after trying every diet god created, many times. It is now March 2008 and I am 7 stone lighter. I was at the end of my tether, and the det together with the group counseling has totally transformed me, with the help of my sheer determination.
I would recommend this diet to anyone. You need to be focused and put 100% in. If you do then you are guaranteed to lost 3 stone in 14 weeks.

I'm considering joining too
I went to an informal meeting last week. I have 4 stone to loose and thinking of starting on the 28th Feb. Like you I have a stressful life and work fulltime. I hope I can keep it up. I'm pretty hopeless where diets are concerned. I just hope I can keep it up.

Eating disorder
Thats really sad to hear, but not uncommon! I did lighter life this time last year and lost 3 stone and have now put back on 4 stone! I am doing gradually losing it again on weight watchers, as I cant afford to spend more money on LL supplies! I will say the same as above make sure your evening meal has hardly any carbs but lots of green veg and protein, and make sure you still drink at least 2 litres of water a day.

Lighter life
I'm just starting LL this week but I know coming off can be tricky. I'd say 1) What are you eating in that evening meal? If it's carb-loaded then it'll get stored. 2) When are you eating? If you eat and then sit and watch telly and then go to bed your body has no chance to burn it off. 3) Did you make exercise a part of transition? Adding some muscle will up your metabolism so you can eat a bit more.
Hope you can get back on track soon!

Lighter life
Thats really scary and sad to hear. i have only been on the program for one week and i have worried constantly about when i do stop. however i have done the atkins diet b4 and i lost some wait and as i am in Ketosis and hope to still be by the time my 14 wks r up i will make sure i stick to a highly protien non fat diet for some time. to give my body the chance to get used to eating more that 500 cals a day. This is only speculation on my part but thats my plan so far. I really feel ur pain. and wish u all the best hotbod

Lighter life
i think anyone should really think hard before starting this diet. I did it for 7 months started March 2005. Went from 20 stone to 10.7stone. Size 26 to size 12. I was only 21 getting married so had perfect motivation. I now weigh 13 stone. Split from husband and been diagnosed with eating disorder. I binge then starve then binge then stave. They say they give you councelling at lighter life but i got none. When you come off the diet the weight goes on so quick its horrible. Its a quick fix and not long term at all!!!!!!!!!!! You need to be mentally stable and i wasnt they didnt recognise this at all, all they cared about was getting the money!! Its so expensive. At the time i was so happy losing the weight so quickly but all i'm left with is a load of loose skin. They dont tell you to exercise at all, in fact if you look at some other websites it tells you how dangerous it is to exercise on 500 calories per day! Just think!! And be prepared to live a life of hating food!!

Lighter life
I started this programe on 31st of October 2005 and was delighted to be 2 stone lighter by Christmas 2005 unfortunatley I came off for Christmas and gained a staggering 16 lb in 2 weeks since then I have been on and off the programe losing up to 1 1/2 stone and putting it back on just as quickly. The programe really works but I feel it is addictive and whilst you do lose weight really quickly you put it on just as quickly. I feel I have wasted the past 18 months plus yoyoing worse than I have ever done before.
My counsellor was crap there was too many people in the group she didnt follow the procedures and most of the time did not have time to tell us anything after she had finished taking the money and weighing us all.
My biggest regret is that if I had started a sensible eating plan like Rosemary Conoley or Slimming World with the same determination I had when I started lighter life I would be at my target now and much happier.
Instead I am fatter than ever and completely dispondent the temptation is to go back on the plan as I know I can lose a stone in 2 weeks but what then ?

Lighter life +++
I think you must have had a very poor counceller. I did lighter life last year and lost 4 1/2 stone in the 100 days. The counceller and our group was very supportive, and I would have not been able to have done it without them. The dvds shown had a section devoted to fitness, and the handbook also has an exercise section. I felt fit and healthy all the time while on the programme, as I do now. I have put on 1/2 stone, which I was warned about, but have continued a healthy eating lifestyle, drinking lots of water, and plenty of exercise and I feel very happy with myself - mentally and physically. Lighter life is not for everyone, and the councelling offered is not in depth. In fact my councellor advised that I should seek further CBT, however the councelling provided is enough to give a true insight to what may have caused the poor relationship with food in the first place. It is an excellent programme but you do need the support of a good counceller to go with it.

Lighter life
I have just started the diet this week and have about 6 stone to lose. Reading these comments I am really put off, I can't afford to lose this weight and gain even more when coming off the diet! It seems more people are agreeing with this rather than disagreeing. My mum is also on this diet and only has 2 stone to go before going on management, has anyone got any tips to make sure we keep it off?

Lighter life
Follow the rules - if you've been staying to the sessions and have been doing the exercises in the Green Book, you should have started to identify your trigger foods. Lighter Life helps you lose weight, only you can turn your life around and accept that you won't be able to eat as you once did. Do maintenance properly - keep getting weighed once a week until you know that you have your eating problems under control. Don't expect to stop eating the packs and then start eating normally. Your previous normal made you fat so you have to relearn everything. Keep drinking lots of water and keep exercising.
