Getting desperate !!!!

Hi all . just discovered your site and am hoping it will be the answer to my problem . Have been using Lighterlife for 11 months and am delighted with the weight loss and how quickly I took to it after abject failure on other diets . My problem stems from the fact that I live in a rural area in Ireland and am a 4 hour journey away from the nearest Lighterlife group . (no trains round here , unfortunately). To get around this I was buying the shakes off Ebay , mostly from sellers in the UK . This arrangement was working out well until Ebay clamped down on the sale of Lighterlife and now I have about 20 sachets left , all out of date but I have been rationing my intake rather than stop .
Basically I was wondering if anyone would consider selling their spare shakes ? I still have nearly 4 stone to use and I am desperate !! I know that , like myself , many do not consume the full quota of shakes every day so if anyone thinks they are in a position to sell , I'd be so grateful . I love the motivation you give each other in your posts and if I could add my voice to those who are still unsure , it really does work . Anyway , best of luck all of you and here's hoping!!

Hi, Do you still have these? If so, may be interested in buying from you!

Thanks

Did lighter life

Hi

I did LL September 2004 and lost over 3 stones by Christmas ~ I was so happy then. But I'm sorry to tell you that it's all gone back on and more besides. Not only that but my shape has totally changed, I've now got a large spare tyre round the middle which I hate. I found my 'before' photos the other day and although I am now about the same weight as then (I've lost a stone at WeightWatchers) I was less flabby then. I didn't know anyone who had done LL when I did it but since then I have known loads and guess what ~ they've all put their weight back on, one friend has even had a gastric band fitted recently. I'm researching Sure Slim now as WW isn't going too well for me.
Good luck to anyone doing LL and I really do hope that it works for you in the long run.
Any help, hints or thoughts will be appreciated.

Hope this helps !

Hia

Im currently on the LL programme. IVe been doing it for 13 weeks now and have lost 4st 1Lb - ( I go for my weigin tonight ! )

I wont say its been easy as there have been a few moments where i have wanted to cheat but the thing with me was that i really wanted to loose the weight so once i had made the commitment that I was going to Join then there was no stopping me, Ive decided that im going to stay on the programme for a bit longer as i feel that i have at least another 3st to loose.

What Sort of info is it that you are after ?

Lighterlife

Please dont touch this diet. I have been in and out of hospital 6 times since coming off this diet. Yes I lost lots of weight (half of which has gone back on) but I have had major problems. My gallbladder was removed and now they think I have inflammatory bowel disease. All of which has only started since doing Lighterlife. I also know of 2 other people who have had their gallbladder removed since coming off Lighterlife and there are lots of forums on line saying the same thing. Please dont touch... I wouldnt wish these problems on anyone. Regards

Just starting (again!)

Hi, I'm just about to start LL for the 2nd time. did it a few years ago but didn't complete the 100 days as I didn't feel supported in my group. found a new consellor and really looking forward to starting again. just wondered if there was anyone out there who has just started/about to start, maybe we could compare notes? Good luck.

Just started ll too

Hi, I have also just started LL and would love to compare notes and support each other. I joined with my hubby so we are supporting each other but he works away most of the time so a fellow LL'er would be great. I officially joined on Thursday, although had been able to start on the Tuesday as my hubby had his group Mon night and we had both supplied our doctors form so he could get supplies for both of us. From my initial weigh in at the info session last Saturday (and making the most of the weekend before abstinence came in on Monday night) I was already down 4.5lbs at my weigh in on thur night (although I guess this is my official starting weight, but I know the real truth!!). Am really surprised so far as I have/had a huge appetite and no self control so I thought I would really struggle, but I have found it pretty ok so far. Am guessing that's becausse of the novelty factor so am a bit worried about the coming week in case familiarity breeds contempt.
I had a minor headache (more like the muzzy head when you are getting the flu than an actual ache) on day 1 but been pretty ok since then, although I have felt a bit jittery, as if I was nervous and my heart was racing a bit, but other than that have been pretty good.
I also won't be able to do the 100 days, as we go to Florida on holiday on day 83, which I explained before we joined, but I need to get as much as I can off in time for the holiday, try to keep it together as much as I can while we're away and then lose the rest (plus whatever i put on while away) when we get back.
If you think we could keep each other motivated I would be more than happy to compare notes.
Good luck and fingers crossed we can both do well x

Hows it going!?

Hi there! just read your post and am wondering how our doing?? i did LL last year and lost 5 stone, unfotunatly i became il (nothing to do with the diet) and had to leave! i have since put 3 stone back on which i am devestated about and know its time to go back!! i have been reading about the refresher course, is that what your doing or are u going back into foundation?

Lighterlife

Hi
I did Lighterlife 2 years ago and even though the program was 100 days, I stopped doing it after 80 days as I had lost the weight I wanted to lose, which was 4.5 stone. I felt amazing and enjoyed the program as I felt in control. Unfortunately, like many others, I thought I could go it alone, but failed and ended up putting most of the weight back on.
However, I have just started back 6 weeks ago and I am back on track to losing all my excess weight again. I feel absolutely fantastic with loads of energy and I have reduced my dress size from an 18 to 14 already!!
The only thing I would say is that you should attend every meeting where possible as this is where you can share your fears and experiences with each other and realise that there may be blips or difficult times where you find it hard to stick to the program, but it's the psychology behind why we have no control that is the important issue to deal with. My other bit of advise is to stick with the 100 days and then do the maintenance. I think this is where the REALLY hard work begins where you have to make choices about your food. I think it's a great program for people who like to see results quickly which is incredibly motivating. But don't let doubters put you off....Look back in your calender/diary and see what you were doing 100 days ago..you will feel like it was only a couple of months ago....and you could of lost at LEAST 3 stone in this time if you were on Lighterlife. Go for it and good luck!

Excerise

hello just wanted to know did you excerise while you were on the lighterlife diet ...did it help you

It works - best think i've ever done

Hiya

I can and will recommend Lighter Life. I've been doing the programme since Sept 5th 2007 and am loving it. Although it may seem hard for the first 1-2 weeks, once you get into the habit, 4 foodpacks and 4 litres of Water a day just become the norm. I've lost 7stone 7lbs so far. It is THE best thing i've done in my life thus far. The results are amazing - its a real life changer. GO FOR IT!!!!!! Give it 100% and you'll never look back.

Try the cambridge diet...

I previously did lighterlife and was very successful but then after 3 months the counsellor i had never gave me any support, i,e never returned my calls etc so i stopped going. that was 2 years ago and now i have put the weight i lost plus a bit more. i found the group support to be good though but have since found out it is £66 plus a week to do lighterlife which i cannot afford so a few weeks ago i started the cambridge diet, which is practically the same, instead of group meetings once a week it is one on one with your counsellor, and is only 37 pounds a week which i can afford!! it is hard the first 3/4 days not eating but once into it and you start seeing the results, i lost 9 pounds in the first 7 days, 6.5 in the second week and have since lost on average 4 pounds. i highly recommend cambridge diet!

Dont give up

Hi

Find another doctor, some as all people are sceptical, but it is not their life we are talking about it is ours, and as long as you have no medical reason not do do this diet, then they have no right to stand in your way.

Good luck!!

Doctor signing forms

Hi,

I would ask your Counsellor if they can recommend a private doctor. I am a Counsellor for Lighterlife and if the problem occurs with Doctors not signing the Health Med form then I can atleast offer an alterntive.

To be honest this doesnt happen very often thought and usually it is because of lack of knowledge about the programme.

Hope this helps

Doctors

I would say go to other doctor. Mine didn't charge me saying, quote; 'meh, that diet is well expensive anyway, you don't have to pay, just stick to it'. Bless her

Some seem to be reluctant tho due to whole confusion/controversy around VLCD's. I have no idea if he had the legal right to do this, however if I were you i would look for a different one. Ask your cansellour, ours offered help should such situation appear.

Lighter life -it's worth a try

Hi,

I did LL from Sept 2007 to the following March. It worked really well for me - I lost 4 stone and found it easy to stick to compared to conventional diets. The downside to it all is that despite all the counselling, the issues I had with being slim and confident didn't go away when I finished the programme.

I excerised most of the way through the programme, and although they don't recommend it, I found it a brilliant way to speed up weight loss, stay motivated and also when I had lost the weight I din't have loads of baggy skin- just a bit!!

The excerise is also really important for speeding up your metabolism and so when I started eating normally again I could actually eat more or less a normal diet without putting on anything.

It all went pear shaped for me when I went back to drinking and partying too much, and stopping exercising into the bargain. I've put on a stone and a half in the year since being back on food, most of which has gone on in the last 6 months.

So, all in all I would say that it is a good thing to try, be prepared for hairloss and feeling slightly like you're on a rollercoaster emotionally - but for me going from a size 20 to a size 10, and now being a size 14 was worth it. I'm just doing the refresher course for a month to shift the extra weight, and this time I'm going to see the management bit through to the end, instead of thinking I could go it alone last time.

hope it helps- good luck

Will i wont i

hi, i,m now just gone passed week 2 and i think its a easy diet

Hi will i won't i

Glad to hear that you think its easy it makes me feel better about getting started. If i don't eat breakfast i never feel hungry but as soon as i have some i think about food , silly as breakfast supposed to be good for you .
Good luck .

Lighterlife

Last summer I followed the Lighterlife diet programme for fifteen weeks. I was determined to lose weight and be healthy. With determination, the support of my family, my Lighterlife counsellor and the others in my group I never waivered from the programme and lost a grand total of four stones and seven pounds. When I began I wore a tight size twenty two and now I wear a comfortable size twelve. Since I finished the programme last year I have been on holiday, celebrated Christmas and resumed a social life that often focuses around food. Losing the weight has proved to be a positive experience all round and I would recommend it to anyone who is able to follow it. Good luck. T
