Lighter life vs cambridge

I was wondering if there was anyone out there who had tried both of these diets and could tell me the positives and negatives, along with the cost of both? At present I am 5'3" and 13 stone and at 25 really fed up with this!I need something to take me away from food, and have heard of both of these but have no idea which would be for the best. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Lighter life vs cambridge

Hi- I have been on Lighter life very successfully (losing around 48lbs), but found it hard to keep the weight off. Personally I am now on Cambridge. Lighter Life is much more restrictive and although the group sessions are useful the counsellors are not really professional counsellors ... some of the issues which come up are very personal and the group dynamics are just luck. I prefer the more up beat and 'lighter' approach of Cambridge.

Good luck either way (Cambridge is a lot cheaper too!).

Lighter life, cambridge diet and celebrity slim

hi all
just now thinking of trying celebrity slim, having successfully lost 60 lbs two years ago for my 50th birthday on lighter life. LLife was good at the time, but i found the set times for meetings too difficult to keep up with and had a bit of a drive to get there; with the kids schedules, i was missing meetings, even on the maintenance programme. but the LLife does work and work well; i was able to keep off the weight for 2 years; have tried from time to time to shift about a stone and tried the Cambridge diet, with good results. it is like LLife in that it is very low calorie and has good shakes, soups and bars. cheaper than LLife and more flexible with meeting times and i even could do one to one with my counsellors. i even had great success during my summer holiday in cyprus, where i had such a nice counsellor; have continued on and off now back in scotland and really like it.

i think to try Celebrity Slim because the Rowlands pharmacy is just down the street and once again, i will just try this for 4 weeks or so to take off about a stone (the residue of xmas and new years indulgence). i only have this stone to lose, and seem to gain a little and then lose it all.

so -- long story short: LLife works, but is expensive and inflexible with meeting dates; i found the group sessions a bit patchy in terms of counsellor professionalism and group dynamics, but it worked for me; Cambridge diet is a good choice for flexibility and good product and is cheaper than LLIfe and appears to be the same products -- only less expensive. i will now try celebrity slim from Rowlands pharmacy, which looks most convenient for me.

good luck!

Hi

A few years ago i tried the cambridge diet-It was a lonely diet-I lost some weight fast and it was very good in its own way.The counceller was very nice and said all the right things but i soon went back to bingeing! i am currently on lighterlife in my 2nd week and have lost 10lbs. the difference is i'm going to weekly councelling meetings with 10 ladies in a closed group. we have very similar problems and findings and i almost dont want to let them down as well as myself- i had to wait over a month to get started because a whole group starts together. cambridge you can get straight away.lighterlife is also more expensive!!! too expensive actually and you still have to pay your £66 if you have a week off!
Overall i prefer lighterlife though because of the group support- and yesterday i was having a bad day and was (for the 1st time)desperate to eat. i text my counceller who supported me- reaffirming my goals etc by text back and force! it got me through that bad patch- and now i'm strong as an ox again today! good luck with whatever you choose of the 2 and i think abstinance is easier than cutting down- as you know exactly your boundries! all the best!

I have!

Hi! I have tried both - the lighter life for the 100 days where I lost 4 1/2 stone. I found the group very supportive and the councelling essential. After the 100 days I went to cambridge to save some money. However, although the counceller was a very nice person, she didnt have the knowledge of cognitive behavioural therapy as did the lighter life councellor. I lasted 6 weeks, lost 2 lb and lost complete hope in losing any more. The cambridge counsellor was unable to keep me on track and there is no commitment. I am now back with lighter life on a 4 week refresher course to get me back on track. I think £66 is spent very wisely on the cognitive behavioural therapy - my time with cambridge was £33 per week down the drain! I hope this was of some use!

Hi

I looked into both but decided to go for CD as it is os much cheaper than lighterlife. (half the price)The diets are very similar and you have a counsellor with each but with lighterlife there is more counselling on offer. However my cambridge counsellor is great and always there for me if I need her
