Cambridge diet help/advise please

Hi, new to these boards - but not to yo-yo dieting!

Started a healthy eating regime and joined a gym in January. Lost 11lbs the 1st week and only a further 3 since.

To be fair my body shape has changed and I am loosing the inches - BUT its so a 'head' thing not to see the scales moving, despite having changed my gym programme 3 times to pure fat burning.

Anyway - emailed someone form the CD website. Maybe I was naive thinking I would get a quick response given the dieting industry is worth £6billion a year, and coupled with deepening un-rest at the weight being the same - well I did what they tell you not to and bought CD from EBAY.

Now I appreciate there are going to be those who now chastise me -- but if there is anyone out there who would be as kind as to give me some advise I would really be grateful. Its not that I am adverse to a CD counciller - it was desperation and a lack of response from CD official website.

Apart from shed loads of water a day - are there any do's or dont's I should be aware of before starting this? I intend to speak to the gym prior to starting so they are aware of what I am doing and change my programme accordingly.

Hi guys

Just thought I would share my thoughts on the CD, I did this diet for 5 months and lost a total of 6 stone, I was 17.7 stone when I began and size 18-20 although I didnt really look that big as I am 5ft 11" so carried it well. When I came off the diet I weighed 11.7 stone and went down to a size 12 so thats 4 dress sizes. I was really worried about how long it would take before the weight crept back on but fear not, it has now been 6 months since totally coming off of the diet and I have maintained my weight. I am still wanting to loose an extra stone though and then I will be happy (she says) so thinking of doing the lemon detox for 7 days just to get rid of the 1 stone. As a whole though, I have never done a diet that has been so successful before, it is hard but worth it and I am so pleased with the results.

My advice to anyone doing or thinking of doing the CD is to stick with it, stay focused I know how hard it is during those social occasions but just stay focused. I never cheated once, always stuck to what I had to do and the right portion sizes during the add a meal week which was on every 4th week.

I was allowed 4 a day as I am tall so use to carry a tetra brick about with me incase I was ever hungry, I even use to add some of the tetra (banana or choc) to some black coffee, it sounds sick but its actually not that bad and I love coffee and couldnt have it black for much longer so tried it and it worked.

Drink LOTS of water, this really really really helps, I didnt drink much water one week and didnt loose much at all, then the next week drunk lots and lost loads so it really helps.

I hope you all achieve the results you want and just be careful when you finish the diet to try to maintain the weight, I stuck to the 1500 calories from the book for 2-3 weeks after finishing the diet and each week slowly introduced something extra so broke myself in slowly and even now I am eating very healthy.

Good luck all

Hi

Muscular matter is far heavier that fat tissue. xx If the inches are coming off - Hell girl, get rid of the scales!!

On third day of CD and feeling fine have lost 3 lbs so far. My Aunt has lost 20+ lbs and she is in her 6th week so it does work.

Ultimately you can not beat exercise and eating correctly...

Good luck with your weight loss. xx

Cambridge diet

HI I started my CD this week, has been tough, I am doing the 3 shakes and 1 low fat meal (Chicken or fish) 2 handfuls of veg or salad all green stuff though.

You can have black tea / coffee and can have sweetners tablet form only (Sweetex have no calories, white tub with green writing on)

Have to be careful with exercise for the first couple of weeks is what I got told.

Got my first weigh in on monday!!

Hi everyone- looking for moral support

Hi everyone

I am now on day 4 of the CD and weigh 14st 4 and am 5ft7 so have just under 5 stone to lose. Have found it really hard, but felt I needed this drastic measure. For me in order to lose weight I need to be on this strict program because I can't just say that I will only have one biscuit. I end up eating a whole packet. The pat three days I have had food cravings like crazy, headaches, shakiness, dizziness and sickness. Today I just feel quite down in the dumps and don't seem to have much energy. I think this is because I used to have a lot of junkfood which consisted of a lot of sugar and a lot of e numbers, Alreday I am realising what an effect junkfood has been having on had on my body. Also I have found that I am now thinking of food as much today, and I think its because I have kept myself busy. Really hope that I can do this because have tried so many diets in the past and I think people just expect me to go off the bandwagon by next week. But I am determined to prove to people AND myself that I can do it. Its nice to read these messages on the board because it makes you realise that there are people out their who actually understand what you are going through.

On day four too

Oh my god! I can soo relate!

xx

Keep going!

Day 6

hi there im on day 6 now and it honestly hasnt been that bad although i am feeling sickish today and no energy but that could be down to a cold.so ffar i have lost 9 pounds im only 5ft 0 and weighed 10st 2 so im aiming to lose 2 stone!the hardest thing for me was to give up milk in tea by the fourth day i just decided to have a couple of cups of tea/coffee with milk anyway and see what happens because it does fill you up and stops you cheating with food!!im still losing so i guess its ok.you neeed to drink a lot of water which can sometimes get boring but its vital for your wright loss!iv been on loads of diets before and havent stuck but theres no counting or weighing with cd so it suits me the vanilla, strawberry, choc a mint and tomato soup are my faves, you dont need to exercise as your consuming so fewer calories which is about 450 a day.i think you should give it a go it really does work and its also medically approved so good luck and keep at it.

Hi

Hi Shazz011,

When I did the cd after day 2 I too had skimmed milk in my tea as I need my tea! I still lost weight, and your right it helps you more I think in the sense you feel more full. I lost a total of 15lbs in 4 weeks, but on week 3 and four I also included cheese slices, chicken and boiled eggs when I really felt hungry as they are carb free, so I stayed in ketosis too!
Hope your doing well.

Rita x

Ilove cd!

I've been on CD for a week now - day 8. I was weighed yesterday and lost 16 pounds! I'm sticking to the diet rigidly and drinking 4 litres of water a day with the occasional Coke Zero thrown in. I don't feel hungry just revitalised. I'm just doing gentle walking - I don't think it's healthy to do anything more rigorous on such few calories. I hope to lose 4 stone.

Hhelp

hi all cambridge dieters. im hopefully starting the cd diet soon i was just wondering if anyone need a diet buddy as i really need one as i know its going to be differcult i have around 6 stone to lose so if anyone got any tips or success stories to will me on i would be very grateful. a family friend just recently done this diet and lost 6 stone in 4/5 months but was just wondering how others find it thank you ever so much.

Have a go

I am in second week ofCD, lost 13lb in first week. I was amazed because I have been on Weightwatchers for 18 months and lost 3 stone, but thought that I had lost all fluid etc, after dieting for so long. CD is great because after the first few days you see the weight coming off and don't crave foods the same.. Keep your target in mind and be focussed. good luck, paula

Cambridge diet

i have been on the cd for a month now and have found it quiet hard to stick to- if like me you ahve a social life it is hard- BUT i have lost 18 lbs and kept it off which is very good as i havent lost that much weight with any other diet- i am just starting at the gym myself. i cannot understand why you havent had response from website i found it very helpful and read up on laods of other people exsperiences and their side effects eg feeling cold all the time etc. have you bought the shakes off the internet and how much did they cost? wot advice in perticular do you reqire and if i can i will help hope to hear from you soon

Cambridge diet

Hi,

I too started the CD diet yesturday 29th May 2007 i found it really easy so far so good i bought 40 cd sachets for £40.00 what a bargain....
i loved the choclate mint shakes i could live on them.
haven't weighed myself not untill a week. i can wait (i think)

Well day 2 and not feeling hungry yet! but i bet i will later.

I keep bushing my teeth to get the horrible taste of of my mouth.

Hope all is doing well and i will keep u all updated on my loss.
Thanks

xx

Cambridge diet - me too!

Hi Vicky 2123!

I've started on the CD today - what attracted me was the fact that it was protein based and I've found that after 2 meals I'm not hungry. I've tried Slim-fast, slimming pills - you name it! I've yo-yo'd for 32 years and I'm only 50! This is my last chance - I'm going to lose 5 stones and keep it off by using the shakes when I see a lb creep on - something I've not done before. I'm 15st 8lbs (there I've said it!) and have never been as heavy. 6 years ago I went on a very unhealthy crash diet and in 3-4 months went down from 12st 13lb to 9 stones - I looked great and kept it off for 2 years. If this doesn't work I'm going to have surgery.
Maybe if we buddy together and help each other we'll make our targets AND keep it off!

Advice

hi, just like you i used to buy my lighter life products from ebay i soon stopped as it worked out alot more expensive than it should and without the moral support i only lasted 2 weeks. Im now in the CD diet and im about to go onto week six. with the cd diet you have 3 food packs a day and yes shed loads of water they say about 2.5 litres but if you can go for around 4/5. you can eat nothing else only the 3 food packs and you can drink black tea and coffee no sugar. after 2 weeks you can subsitute a food pack with a food bar {only 1 bar a day and drink an extra 1/2 litre of water with it. you will notice your weight lose within the first week . they do say not to exercise when on this diet, not sure why . good luck with your diet.

Cambridge diet

Diet

Hello, my name is Elizabeth Roddick and I believe in a diet as being a way of life. Visit my website on www.newlifehealthcare.co.uk for advice.

Wow

All these boards filled with people who are on the Cambridge Diet, been on it, about to start it and the ONLY reply I get is spam.

Thanks girls. Wish you all well.

Hiya

hello there sorry noone replied to you. Haven't been on here for a while or i would of replied to you before now.
i have nothing to say but good things about c diet as i have lost 2st 8 since end of January.
But drinking water is the key and i do struggle with it even with the flavourings, once you start to see the weight come off and you will, this will be more than enough to keep you motivated. It is very hard at the beginning especially the first couple of days when i got headaches and a vile taste in my mouth but it gets easier. I'm not saying really easy, I've had a couple of bad days when i just needed to eat something! I wasn't even hungry, but just wanted to taste something.
I wish you success and luck with your diet and coming on here even to read other people's experiences helps.
Love toni x

Hiya

hello toni im new to these storyboards read ur message on 4th april amazing uv lost 2st 8lb at the moment toni i dont feel 2 good on this diet im sticking at it,its only day 2 but i feel quite ill, headaches and nausea i just wanted to know when these feelings subside and well done again love lisa x

Aww

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply. I started CD today. Not had any headaches but I think this is down to the fact that last year I did the Gillian McKeith detox and cut out caffiene - my god did I get the most horrendous headaches then and it put me off drinking tea or coffee (even decaff). Am necking the water to help the 'pangs' but in fairness they are not that bad and whats more the soups and shakes have been rather palettable.

Over 2.5 st since January is amazing! Very well done. Am loving these boards (even though not many are replying) am managing to glean the info needed from other postings!

Ah well trip to the loo -- for the UMPTEETH time hahaha

xx
