Cambridge diet - advice please!

hi there,

just signed up to CD last night and need to lose 5 stone. Main reason I'm doing this (apart from looking fab in a bikini!)is that I'm looking to start a family.

Was told that if i was to fall pregnant that I could not do the diet. Can someone explain why? I thought the diet provided all the necessary vitamins and minerals?

anyone able to help with this?

C diet

well the c diet is to lose weight, when you become pregnant your body will use more calories just doing daily things such as walking, cleaning etc.
You can still diet when pregnant but you would be better with a healthier option such as weight watchers.
Just give the cdiet your best shot, you will lose a lot of weight if you stick to it, and increase your chances of starting a family.
it would be healthier to lose a bit now before you have a baby instead of carrying around extra weight of the baby too.
i did the lipotrim diet for 10 days there and lost 10lpds and am now on c diet as flavours far better i am 12 stone so only looking to lose stone or 2. i went up to 15 & 1/2 stone with my first baby.
good luck

Hi

can you tell me what is this diet i am looking to lose 3 stone but looking for a good diet

Help

I am looking to do c diet too, but was wondering if once lost the weight if you then stuck to weight watchers would this help you to keep the weight off. As then you could look at getting pregnant when on ww.

Hi

Hi Traceyslim,

In my experience after I came off the cd I put back on 6lbs, but if you continue to diet (any diet) your body will balance its self out and you would loose the weight. I however am going back on the cd to loose another stone then I will just watch my carbs to maintain my weight.
Hope this helps,

Rita x

Advice i hope?

I don't know much about the cd. However, it is not recommended to be any tyoe of diet whilst pregnant. Your body needs extra everything in order to support and feed the baby. You also need extra and thats why when pregnant you need to eat more and sensibly. The baby will take everything from you. It is best to either do the diet for a few months to get the weight off and then try or, go for the baby. You'll put more weight. Being there 3 times (babies) you will diet after. Being prenant is the most important thing in your life. No room for diets. Good luck. Linda

Also wanting to start a family

I to want to start a family, but my worry is that I am already about 3-4stone overweight and when I fall pregnant I have visions I will go to 3-4stone even more!

So my thought process was to go on CD now, lose weight, then start trying, increases my fertility chances being at correct weight. Then when I fall eat sensibly, after baby back on CD.

Does this make sense? Anyone else in the same boat?

Pregnancy and cambridge

Hi there

In similar situation to yourself (i.e. overweight by about 2 stone and wanted to get rid of weight before trying) and was going to see how things went on the diet and stop doing it as soon as I got preg. I got preg 3 stone overweight last time and was careful so not too bad but struggled a bit afterwards. I too wasn't sure why you couldn't carry on dieting (even if not sole sourcing) but now I know why! I got preg very very quickly twice before and haven't been on pill for while and nothing had happened. Went to drs who did blood tests, it appeared my hormone levels (particularly LH) level was extremely low. Did bit of research and extreme dieting (which I assume 500cal a day is extreme!) causes hormone inbalances. Came off diet and had second blood test (just a week after stopping the diet) and the level had now tripled and was higher than normal. I am hoping to get preg now and for me, this is more important than losing the extra 2 stone but will just be careful again and maybe do something like weight watchers during pregnancy (which I know is safe).

Good luck and hope this helps.
Bea
