Anyone been on the nhs weight management programme

I am currently waiting to start the new Weight Management Programme on the NHS and wondered if anyone knows anything about it. I know it involves therapy and classes but not sure about anything else. Any further info. on this would be great.

Weight management programme

These are in development in many areas. There are 4 tiers or levels and the top of that pyramid is weight loss surgery. Level 1 Basic intervention:
Population based opportunistic advice giving lifestyle recommendation and advice.
Signposting to services.
Level 2 Weight Management Service:
Trim and Slim delivered by Health Trainers, healthcare assistants, Sure Start nutrition team, leisure centre staff.
Delivered in a variety of easily accessible settings in a 12 week programme.
Weekly/monthly weigh-in, nutrition and lifestyle information, physical activity, data collection.
For clients with BMI 25-29kg/m2.
For clients with BMI 30-30.9kg/m2 without co-morbidities.
Level 3 Weight Management Service:
Delivered by dietitians.
For clients with BMI 30-34.9kg/m2 with co-morbidities.
Level 4 Specialist Weight Management Service:
Delivered by the multidisciplinary team, including a GPwSI, physiotherapist, psychologist and dietician.
For clients with BMI 35kg/m2 with significant co-morbidities and BMI 40kg/m2.

Hope that helps with the information

Nhs weight management

Hi,

I have just been referred by my doctor and I am waiting on a letter of confirmaiton, but I will keep you updated as to exactly what it is and what they help me achieve, it always helps if you can find out more info as I would be happy to share all the ins and outs.

Nhs weight mamagement

I have just finished the nhs weight mamngment course and it was great. As it was in a group i found so much easier as we could share each others thoughts and tips. You are not given diets to follow as such but it is more of a food managment typed class. A better knowledge of food can be such an eye opener and i have lost two stone so far! I wish you luck! Nhs weight management

hI i'm new to all this on line chat so please bare with me if i make any mistakes. For years i have been unhappy with my weight and constantly on the look out for the next best thing in diets. I lost two stone a couple of years ago then moved jobs and piled nearly all of it back on. Which has lowered my confidence even further. Would you be able to tell me where to find information about the nhs weight management? xxxx

Info on nhs weight management

Hi there i was told about the weight mangagement program from my doctor. I asked about gastric banding because i have a lot of weight to loose. She then told me that they do not automatically give you this now but put you on this program. It consists of Consultants, physio-therapy, psycotherapy and groups. There is a waiting list i was put on it a couple of months ago and got the letter in to say i start in october. Im looking forward to it they try to find out why you overeat and to retrain you on whats good for you. If you speak to your doctor im sure they will tell you all about it.

Good Luck!

Angela

Nhs weight management service

Well I eventually got my letter and I start on the 22nd July. I have waited around 5 months since my original referral from my GP, which I think is a bit long but we will see how the classes go.
