Lighterlife help needed!

Hi I'm hoping that someone can help me and give me some advice. I've decided to try lighterlife as I'm desperate to lose weight. I have a colleague at work who has been very successful on it. I have contacted my nearest counsellor and am waiting for a reply. I have a few questions which i would love help with if anyone can. I would love to start immediately but have 2 holidays booked both within the 100 days. I know that I will find it very difficult to stay on the plan whilst I am away with friends but I wanted to start now rather than when I return. Any advice?

Lighterlife wonder

Hi Lisa

I am now on week 5 of route to management after losing 89 pounds on lighterlife (thats 6 stone 5 pounds)in 26 weeks. I had a weeks holiday in Portugal and felt fantastic, that was on week 20 of the programme I stuck religiously to the diet and felt so elated at achieving this, I even wore a bikini for the first time ever. The best advice I can give is to really look at yourself and why you overeat and listen to the counselling and try and take as much in as possible. I was so chuffed when I returned to my class after my hols and had lost another 4 pounds whilst on holiday. If your friends are true friends and they know that you are on plan they should give you all the help and encouragement you should need to stick to the plan, just go for it.

I have gone from a size 24 to a size 10 since 28 Feb 2007 and have not looked back. I feel wonderful, confident and enlightened. I never thought I would go abroad again, the last time was 24 years ago and I always made the excuse of it being too hot, but it wasn't I was too fat. You need to start the diet its a wonder.

good luck

Go for it!

I started this diet last September with a holiday booked for the end of October, about 8 weeks after I started. By that time I had lost almost 3 stone and had bought a few new clothes to wear. I took my packs with me (hidden in my luggage!) and found my suitcase was emptier than usual. For the first time for years, my clothes took up less space and I needed to take less with me as I didn't have to worry about all the "cover up" items I usually took with me plus the clothes themselves were smaller.

I can't say being on holiday in a hotel with lots of lovely food all around me was easy but I did stick to it. I took a pack to breakfast and so on. However, various things sustained me, like being able to sit comfortably in the airline seat, not having to ask for the extending belt bit in that beautiful bright orange colour, feeling confident enough to walk round the pool in just a swimsuit rather than covering myself up in a towel or thick kaftan! By the 4th day I was a bit sick of black coffee and water when everyone else was drinking but after that it was downhill until we went home and I can't tell you how wonderful it was knowing that for the first time in years both me and my suitcase were going home a few pounds lighter rather than half a stone heavier! Make sure the people you are with understand how important losing weight is to you and don't let them give you "permission" to eat by telling you how well you have done so far, how much better you look and just one meal/drink won't make a difference. You know it will! Finally, avoid giving in to alcohol (assuming you drink this normally). One drink will inevitably lead to more and then onto food!
Enjoy your holiday and the pleasure the mirror will give you every time you get ready to go out!

Hi,

Have you started the Lighter Life Diet yet, I am thinking about starting, but i would like some feed back from some body just sarting out to get the real picture to what it is like !!!

Lighterlife

Hi

Go for it, my first week was horrendous, I felt sick all the time and thought I would not get through the 100 days, but low and behold I am 6 stone 9 pounds lighter after 31 weeks and I feel wonderful, I have not come off the plan once and the first week is all forgotten about. Just think 100 days is such a short period of time and it is well worth the hardships of the first couple of weeks, but after that I found it plain sailing. Encourage by the weight I had lost, 18 pounds in the first 2 weeks, just think of that.

Go girl

Me too

Hi Lisa
I was in the same boat - started lighter life three weeks ago and have a holiday booked for the end of october. I've lost a stone and a bit in that time and am hoping to have lost nearly another 2 stone by then. I know that I am going to feel so much better by the time I go on my hols and I'm hoping that it will give me the motivation to stick to it whilst I am away. Am finding it surprisingly easy so far and as my holiday is self catering it will be possible for me. I am going with friends too and have already told them what I am doing and they are very supportive. I knew that if I didnt start now I would just put on more weight (was 18st 7lb) and just desperate. Feel so much better already. Even if you do decide to eat on holiday it might be easier to control because you have had a period of not eating. Hope this helps - good luck Debbie x

Tuff 3 days!!

Hi girls am new to the site but have found the lighterlife discussion encouraging!! I'm on day 3 and have found it very tuff!! why is it that when you are pregnant all you see is other pregnant ladies and when you cant have food or drink all you home in on is just that!
I have got 16weeks off teaching and so am hoping to stick to it and loose 4 stone ...is this possible???!!!
You sound as though you are really doing well.... congratulations!

Lighterlife info

Hi, I did Lighterlife 3 years ago and lost 5 and a half stone! However, I then realised I as pregnant, so could not continue with the programme, thus missing the really imprtant maintenance steps.... I suspect you can guess the result (I am looking at dieting chatrooms!). I put the 5 and a half stone back on plus another half a stone! Arghh!

I telephoned my counsellor to find that Lighterlife had increased their prices (£65 a week in my area!). I feel they have priced themselves completely out of the market. I then found out about The Cambridge Diet and am now following this.

The differences:
Lighterlife - more expensive, group counselling session for one hour a week, total absitnence... no food at all until target weight is reached.
The Cambridge Diet - cheaper (£38 a week in my area), one-to-one chat with counsellor a week, every fifth week food is allowed for a week... sounds silly but its something to look forward to.

Ive been following The Cambride Diet for 6 days and lost 10 pounds (although I did the same, more-or-less, on Lighterlife).

Let me know how you get on!
