Lighterlife

Hi there everyone,
I've been reading some of the discussions on the lighterlife diet and although it seems very expensive I want to try it. My weight bogs me down a lot especially seeing as I'm a lot bigger than some of my friends. I love to shop but I get so embarrassed when they're picking up their size 10's and I'm searching at the back of the rail for size 18's and 20's. I'm only 17 and I find it very hard as it just ends up being a vicious circle. I get depressed and I eat then I get depressed about how much I'm eating but I just end up eating more.
But that I really wanted to know abut Lighterlife is whether anyone had felt any adverse side effects of the diet? And how do you cope when you have got to your target weight and return to eating 'solids?' I feel that I would end up spending an obscene amount of money to get to a weight and size I would feel comfortable with and then once I start eating food again I would put all of back on (an unfortunate fate that I have read in quite a few posts).

Also, would it be better for me to buy the packs until I have an adequate number of shakes/soups - 1 months supply say - or to do a week here and there??

I would really appreciate some help. I'm dreading going to the doctors to ask him about it. The last GP told me I was severely obese (

Thanks

Lighter life

Good news, you are in the same boat as myself except I have joined lighter life, I have tried many diets and would give up because the results were not quick. I lost 6 1/2lbs in the first week and have just completed 3 full weeks and hit my first stone.
If you stick to the plan, 4 packets, (you can make some nice alternatives with the packs, mint choc mousse is fab!). 4 litres of water and you will feel so much better even after the first week.
You will be unable to get a months supply as you need to visit your sessions on a weekly basis and you get to learn all about your relationship with food, meet other people and generally start to feel good about yourself. My friend has lost 4 stone in 11 weeks! she looks great. After the first 14 weeks you then go onto management where you start to re-introduce food, this lasts for 12 weeks and this is time when you need to understand your relationship with food. As i mentioned still in the early stages but it works for me as I am not hungry, do not have to think about food and feel better. For the first time in 20years I have not had a drink for over 3weeks and to be honest I have not missed it!
Go for it, just think once you have paid your £66 thats the food bill for the week, I was spending £40 on red wine per week!!

Good luck and let me know how you get on.
You must get a form signed from your nurse who if like mine will be more than helpful and supportive.
You have already taken the biggest step by doing research!
thanks

Have you heard of golower?

Hi Lolapop,

I hope I am not adding to your confusion but I just wanted to tell you about the golower diet. It is a little bit cheaper than lighterlife and you can eat real meals. I have only been on the diet for a week and lost 5lb. It is real food that gets delivered to your door, typical day goes like this: nuts or cereal bar for breakfast, soup for lunch and chicken curry or similar meal in evening (choice of 6) add any green veg and extra meat if you want. Also you can snack on certain fruits, I add an apple in a day and also some brazil nuts. You dont feel like your on a diet honestly. You can get support when you need to via the phone, you should lose a stone a month if followed properly, the diet also changes your taste buds so you dont crave sweet things. I have a terrible sweet tooth and I am not craving anything sweet at all. If you want to check it out their website is www.golower.co.uk and when I ordered my weeks worth of food they had a deal on which I think was 20% off or something like that. Let me know what you think of it. Hope you find a diet that suits.

Take care - Fatbuttercup

Have you thought about the cambridge diet?

hi lolapop90 did you know that cambridge make lighterlife products? im saying this as ivebeen on the cambridge diet now for 5 weeks and have lost 20lbs, it is half the price of lighterlife but basically they are the same.
With lighterlife you are on sole source for 14 weeks, with cambridge it is 4 weeks then you have an add a meal week.If i was you i would look into the cambridge diet first as it will save you at least half of what you would spend plus you have one to one with your councillor.Go onto the website and it will show you where the nearest councilor is to where you live. With all diets, obviously if you dont change your eating habits the weight will go back on but these diets are all about portion control. let me know how you get on.
