New to cambridge diet and already thinking i cant do it!!!

Hi all!

Have stumbled on this and hope theres someone who can help!!

I started the cambridge diet yesterday and am really struggling!

Out of yesterdays 3 meals i could only eat one as the fruit shake and the choc mint shakes were so disgusting!! i couldnt eat this mornings banana for the same reaso so went without. this meant i ended up fainting this lunch time!! i could ride it put if i was on my own as am desperate but im a childminder and cannot afford to take risks with the children. I also feel lousy...tired and my head is splitting...i never get headaches!!

Im thinking that I should abandon hopes of a fast fix and instead do the maintainance plan for a slower weight loss. ie, replacing one or 2 meals a day with the spicy tomato soup which, so far, is the only one that i can stomach!!

Is this possible, and can I still expet to actually loose weight doing this???

Im a vegetarian by the way!

I think (maybe wronly please correct me if im wrong!) that the principles of the meals on the plan are to be very high protein, very low carb???

With this in mind, can anyone think of how I should do this? ie which meals should i replace and what are good things to eat to keep this as close to how it should be as possible???

hope this makes sense and thank you in advance for taking the time to read all this!!!

You can do it!

Hi Victoria101279,
don't despair - the first three days are the toughest - honest. I am on day 4 (started at 6pm on Monday) and I am feeling really good but it has been tough over the past three days. I had to take some paracetamol to overcome my headaches in day 2/3 and I don't like what my tongue feels like (really yuk) but I do like what my clothes feel like on me! I stood on my scales this am and I think I have lost 8lbs?! Can't quite believe that but its a digital scales and thats what its saying...
On the meals front I would say go back to your counsellor and see can you swap the shakes you don't like for ones that are less offensive? The vanilla shake is okay and the strawberry too. I like the tomato soup and the lactose free mushroom is okay too.
So, I would say pop a few paracetamol, drink lots of water (I drink a massive mug of it before I drink my CD and then tea afterwards). I am drinking Roiboos (Redbush) tea - its caffeine free and tastes fine without milk.
Let me know how you get on and I will keep going. My aim is exactly 2 stone..... 13 st 1 lb down to 11 st 1lb and I just ahve to keep focussed on that....
Good luck,
salcon

Really want to lose weight!

hi salcon,im replying to you because i found it interesting how you started the cambridge in the evening.i have had the cabridge diet fo quite a while now, just sitting there alone in the cupboard.i have every intention the eve before of starting it,but its a different story when i wake up in the morning and start the pre school rush,im craving carbs so bad {namely toast},i just give in.at 14 stone i have never really lost the weight i gained during my last pregnancy 4 years ago. going back to the morning feeling i actually feel quite ill until i eat something,so thats the dilemma i have {also knowing the next 3 days or so will be awful}so im thinking should i start eve like you have,do you think this would make any difference?let me know.thanks.

Cambridge diet

Hi

Just wondering how you are both getting on? I started today - I did CD a year or so ago and lost over a stone, and then again for a short while in June - each time I've done ok, I'm just not great at sticking at it for longer than a couple of weeks, but during that time I manage to lose a decent amount, and I haven't put back on what I lost in June, so I'm quite chuffed!

With regard to flavours, I think if you find a flavour you like stick to it, as boring as that may sound - personally I'd have banana every time, but toffee & walnut is really nice and I think strawberry and choc are ok...

I'm expecting tomorrow - day 2 to be hard, will also coincide with heavy day of my period, so really crap planning on my part!! Still I was motivated and keen to start CD again, so I just had to go with the flow!

Would love to know how you both doing...

Linda

Thank you!

hi! thank you both for replying!!

i didnt manage day 3. i fainted on the stairs at home so then just had food. ive had a chat with my councellor and think ill have to go ahead and have just one shake on a night. she doesnt seem very keen on the idea and says it wont make any difference to my weight but its worth a go!!

i think ill try the montignac method for my food meals to at least make sure i dont pig out on those!

how are you both getting on??? it sounds as though youve both had amazing weight losses!!!
