Pu erh tea

Hi

Has anyone else tried this tea, I think it is amazing. I read that VB drank it to lose weight after their second, so I decided to give it a go. It really works, my tummy is tighter and so are my thighs, it's a miracle drink!

I had some trouble finding it in the UK but came across a lovely site in Now magazine, they are called www.TheTeahouse.co.uk.

I'd love to know if anyone else has tried it.

Pu erh tea....

I have been drinking this splendid tea for over ten years now. Fortunately I was introduced to it by the wife of a friend who happens to be a formidable Chinese tea expert, and who has the necessary connections in China to source some excellent examples of this ancient brew.

For the newcomer here are a few observations and pointers:

1. There are literally hundreds of distinct pu erh tea lineages all with certain distinguishing characteristics such as plant source ageing duration, fermentation method or blending,(in some cases). Pu Erh tea can be compared to red wine in terms of complexity and variety.

2. One basic distinction is that between
(a)'cooked' (ie fermented) and
(b)raw (unprocessed) teas.

The raw pu erh tends to be harsher and offers a more robust digestive action, often being drunk with food as well as afterwards. Older raw pu errh becomes more refined, providing the original plant is of high quality and storage is suitable.

Cooked or fermented pu erh is usually much more soothing, warming and comforting. More recently many pu erh teas are artificailly fermented to accelerate ageing. This is done by adding ferment bacteria to the tea and storage in humid warm conditions.. The best teas will be naturally fermented and well aged, and these are the ones usually accredited with unusual medical properties. I recently sampled a thirty year old naturally fermented pu erh tea and it probably the tastiest and most pleasant drink I have ever had.

3, Price and availability.

Chinese teas are extremely complex. Many of the best examples can only be obtained from specialised brokers and much of what appears on the market is at best mediocre in my experience. High quality Pu Erh tea can easily cost more than £100 for 100 g and the really elite teas attract a lot of competition from buyers, commanding jaw dropping prices as a result.

In my experience you can obtain a fair example of a basic pu erh from Whittards. Jing teas had mediocre examples last time I tried them. If you wish to try an example of some 'precious' pu erh or other Chinese teas then you could try Chinese Heritage in London, who definately do not compromise on quality. They are small scale but usually have stocks of pu erh. If you really want to try a great tea and can afford it ,order some wild pu erh from them on 0845 0553666.

4. The older the tea the less caffeine it will contain compared to its original state, as this chemical breaks down over time. Quality does not necessarily correlate with age.

5. Pu Erh is relatively easy to prepare, recquiring just boiled water and a smallish, contained pot with lid. Many other varieties of Chinese teas require years of experience to prepare properly. High quality pu erh teas can be reused many times, partially offsetting some of concerns about price. Simple drain, remove lid and recharge with boiling water later. The thicker the leaf and the more dense the texture the more time it takes for brews to release flavour, meaning that teh third or fourth brew is often the best.

These are only a few, hopefully digestible, points! Enjoy...that's the main thing...

Yes, it works for me.

Hi,

I've been drinking Puerh on almost daily basis for ages. It definitely helps my digestive system and it's the only tea I can drink in the evening without being afraid of sleeplessness. They say it helps to stimulate weight loss but I have a slender figure so it's not a reason I drink it... anyway, it works fine for a friend of mine or at least she says that. I simply like it and have tired a lot of different Pu Er teas. I currently buy it from Good Tea web store located at http://www.goodtea.eu and I love their teas. The older Pu Er the better but also more expensive.

Tea trial

Hi Jin,
My name is Ian Walton and I am pleased to hear the results so far. I am running a trial on this tea to prove that what it says on the packet it does. Some of the results I have had back within 1 week have been astounding. I can suply you with tea but it will be more expensive than the price you are paying now. This is because we are using in the trial 1998 Pu-erh vintage tuocha. If you know anyone else that would be interested in this tea and join the trial it will cost £30. This gives a 3 month suply of tuocha and all the relevant doccumentation to go with it. For this everyone that you introduce to the trial I will give you £5 for your trouble.
Look forward to your reply

"pu erh tea"

Ive just received the Pu erh tea which I ordered from the teahouse.co.uk and am very excited about starting this new trend. So far have just had one cup - i think im supposed to have 3 a day. It smells like compost but doesnt taste too bad. I think it must work by suppressing appetite as its mid day and normally by now am ready for lunch but I dont feel hungry? We will see. Im 24 and weigh 9stone but would like to lose half a stone. I work out regularly at the gym too so wont be relying on this tea alone to lose the weight. Will let you know how I get on! x

Buy puerh tea online

Living in rural France and not working has piled on the pounds.

Earlier this year I read an article that VB drinks puerh tea in order to help maintain her weight. A few months later I read an article in Closer Magazine about weight loss when drinking puer tea.

The 'guinea pig' in the article lost weight whilst drinking it so I thought I would try for myself.

In the article was a link to www.teawarehouse.co.uk - they sell several types of puerh tea from £1.86 to £3.85 plus postage. I ordered some (in April) one Monday and my delivery arrived in the post on Thursday.

I must say that it works, I have lost weight and the only change I have made in my life style is to walk to the village every day instead of using my car.

I've lost one stone over 3 months which has brought me down to my ideal weight and just like Posh I now drink it to help maintain my weight.

You can see the Closer Mag article on their website.

Good online shop for pu erh tea

I would like to share a good online shop for Pu erh tea.

http://shop.waiyeehong.com/index.php?main_page=pro-duct_i nfo&cPath=4_12&products_id=451
They stock the Teaco brand at a reasonable price.

I preferred the Chrysanthemum Pu'erh Tea,
http://shop.waiyeehong.com/index.php?main_page=pro-duct_i nfo&cPath=4_12&products_id=139 1

because it had a lighter and fragranted flavour. I've lost a few pounds so far. Not sure if its the tea or just my healthier diet at the moment. I still love my carbs

Sorry more on tea that works

What we and others have found that has worked is Holy Tea which s made from Milk thistle (or as the Americans call it Holy thistle) and marsh and another type of mallows. This loosens and gemtly removes compacted food stuffs from the colon , thus reducing weight and also aiding the body's ability to absorp food. It is also good for the liver and general digectivesystem, check out the herbs via google.
Infact we have been using it since December last year and are so pleased with the effects we have started to sell it, not for profit but because people started coming to us for it. We sell it for the cost we get it for

Weight loss and pu-erh tea

Hi my name is Ian Walton and I am running a trial into weight loss and Fat loss of the tea. From the initial results I have in so far weight loss is minimal but fat loss is huge. You have to remember this is for dropping dress size. Just a forinstance I have 1 lady who is just over 9 stone who in 2 weeks has not lost any weight but has lost 2" off her waist, 3.5" off her hips and 3/4" off her thighs. We are using a 1998 vintage tuocha in the trial. This can make a big difference. If you would like any more info. Don't hesitate to ask

Pu-erh tea whilst breastfeeding

Hi there, I'm new to this forum and would like to ask if anybody knows whether it is safe to drink Pu-erh tea whilst breastfeeding? Thanx in advance.

gnh08.

Omg i love pu-erh tea!

hi!

just want to let you know that i have become a devout drinker of pu-erh tea. i started about in january as a new years resolution to go down one size smaller. i am in the fashion industry and have a lot of pressure to look slim!

i actually came across an 'editor's pick' from beauty section of this website - and let me tell you - their pu-erh tea is FABULOUS! It's appropriately called Skinny Mini - haha isn't that cute?

http://www.sofeminine.co.uk/news/beauty/n5915.html-

prior to this, i tried another pu-erh tea that i purchased from a local shop and it just didn't taste the same. this tea tastes... velvety and fuller. i just love it!

i usually have it 2-3 cups a day (i don't drink coffee) - breakfast, after lunch and after dinner. for breakfast, i usually have toast, eggs and tea. i save my best meals for lunch and usually have something fuller like curry chicken salad or a sandwich. for dinner, i always have something light, like fish or something (never red meat). believe it or not - i work in fashion but i LOVE to eat!
