Hiya
Hi thanks for your reply, have seen your name before on dieting forum. My alopecia started in june 2005 when my sister noticed a patch of hair missing on my crown, it was only the size of a 10p but was still distressing. Gradually it fell out until i had a bald patch that measured 12cms by 10cms on the back of my head, which was basically the whole of the back from crown to nearly my nape. I have always been very fussy about my hair so found it extremely difficult to cope with. I covered it up when it was small enough, with makeup but then found these fab clip in hair extensions which have proved to be invaluable. I had just enough hair on my crown to clip them into and just enough at the bottom to be able to pull it up into a ponytail without it noticing. It's difficult to explain them but they are great!! The hospital put the hair loss down to stress and i was given some scalp steroids to encourage growth, eventually little baby hair started to grow and now the patch is almost covered. I still wear the clip-ins but am hoping to have my 1st haircut before i go on hols in May. They have warned me it could happen again but i'm keeping my fingers crossed. Although I haven't been ill and I'm lucky enough to have my hair back, it has been a terrible experience that i think most women will understand. I've looked at alopecia websites and seen just how lucky i have been, some people have lost all their hair and may never get it back. Thanks for your interest it is nice to finally be able to talk about it without feeling upset or embarrassed.
