Alopecia

HI there I was wondering if anyone out there has experienced alopecia.
I have had it for nearly 2 years and my hair is just growing back nicely, i'd lost nearly all of the hair on the back of my head.
Luckily I was very fortunate and i have been able to cover it up so well that only close family and friends know about it, but, it has still knocked my confidence and i'm now paranoid that it's all going to fall out again as they have said this could happen.
If any of you out there have had this condition i'd be really interested to hear how you coped and how you're doing now.

I had it !!!

I had alopecia when I was pregnant with all 3 children ? It was awful as I have fine hair as it is. I lost it on both sides of my crown. I was like that for months. It grew back but was like baby hair to start. I dont have much confidence anyway & this made me worse. I always take "hair skin & Nails" supliment now for the health shop.
My nanny has lost a lot of hair & she has tried everything going & spent a fortune. Shes been trying "HairMax LaserComb Premium" look it up on line. I have seen the testomonials & they are amazing. I saw it on This Morning TV a while back, nanny has said its making a diffenence after just a month !!!

Good luck & take care.

Home remedies

Try these home remedies for alopecia:

Apply castor oil and massage on the head.

Boil dry pieces of amla in coconut oil and apply on the head or mix equal quantity of fresh amla juice and lime juice and then used as a shampoo.

Mix 1/2 cup of lettuce juice and 1/2 spinach juice and drink it daily.

Mix alfalfa juice, carrot juice and lettuce juice. Drink it daily.

Mix refined coconut oil with limewater and lime juice and apply on the hair once a day.

Boil 250 grams of mustard oil and about 60 grams of henna leaves. Then filter it through a cloth and stored in a bottle. Apply regular massage of the head with this oil.

Apply coconut milk all over the scalp and massage it the head.

Do a fine paste with seeds of lime and black pepper seeds and apply on the head twice a day.

Hiya

Hi thanks for your reply, have seen your name before on dieting forum.
My alopecia started in june 2005 when my sister noticed a patch of hair missing on my crown, it was only the size of a 10p but was still distressing.
Gradually it fell out until i had a bald patch that measured 12cms by 10cms on the back of my head, which was basically the whole of the back from crown to nearly my nape.
I have always been very fussy about my hair so found it extremely difficult to cope with. I covered it up when it was small enough, with makeup but then found these fab clip in hair extensions which have proved to be invaluable. I had just enough hair on my crown to clip them into and just enough at the bottom to be able to pull it up into a ponytail without it noticing.
It's difficult to explain them but they are great!!
The hospital put the hair loss down to stress and i was given some scalp steroids to encourage growth, eventually little baby hair started to grow and now the patch is almost covered. I still wear the clip-ins but am hoping to have my 1st haircut before i go on hols in May. They have warned me it could happen again but i'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Although I haven't been ill and I'm lucky enough to have my hair back, it has been a terrible experience that i think most women will understand. I've looked at alopecia websites and seen just how lucky i have been, some people have lost all their hair and may never get it back. Thanks for your interest it is nice to finally be able to talk about it without feeling upset or embarrassed.

Alopecia

Dear Tonih,

I sympathise with your condition and am happy for you that your hair is growing back. I also suffer from hair loss, mine is female patterned hair loss and is very distressing. I've been told that there is no cure and treatment is the only way to overcome it. The treatment has to be ongoing and if stopped the condition will deteriorate. I am considering having hair transplant surgery and would love to hear from women out there who have either thought about it too or have had it. Or if you know anyone please ask them to get in touch.

I rarely talk about this as I don't know anyone who has suffered from this condition but I would love to meet women to share the problem and help eachother overcome confidence issues.

I do not lack confidence as I truly believe there is more to a person than what's on the outside, but there are times when I do get distressed about it.

Tonih, I truly hope your condition was temporary and you do not suffer from this again

It's not always easy

I'm frensh and first of all i'm sorry for my english, so excuse my mistakes.
I'm surprised why in this forum there are not enough discussion about hair losess.

if you go to "aufeminin.com" frensh version, you will find some people sharing there experiences about this problem.

I'm not suffering of alopecia but i lost almost all my hair, and now i try to treat this problem with naturel thing, and i notice really progress.
