embarrassing problem...hope this is the right place?!

Hi everyone.

I don't know whether this is the right place to post, but I'll ask anyway.
I have an embarrassing problem. I cant poo. When I do, it's really hard to, and it normally has a dark brown mucus around it/with it. I get pains in my stomach that feel like the onset of diaroeah. This pain goes all through my stomach and across my back.

Anyone got any ideas of what I can do, what it is?!

Go to the docs as sounds like IBS, i have this and have got anti spasm tablets. Drink more water as this helps break down the stools and should help you go better. The mucus is a sign of IBS, but recommend to speak to a doc, just in case.

The back pain is excrutiating!

Ibs can be controlled by diet. I have seen a pocket guide to IBS in the chemist that should explain quite a lot.

If you visit the doctor he will prescribe you colofac or buscopan tablets and they should help to control your bowel spasms (the spasms cause the acute pain). I have also been prescribed Fibrogel in the past. Its an orange tasting high fibre drink.

I think you have IBS Irritable bowel syndrome. I had the same problem (same symptoms and even worse) and I was advised to have colonic irrigation. I had 10 sessions within four weeks one year ago.
