Progesterex: rape-drug twist

The following is from an email received by a colleague of mine this morning: Scary stuff and something all you sofeminine readers should be aware of...
Last Saturday night, a woman was drugged, gang raped and dumped by five men after a night of clubbing.
Hospital and police reports confirmed muktiple semen samples and traces of both the drug Rphypnol and Progesterex in her blood.
We are aware of rohypnol's incapacitating, memory erasing effects but Progesterex adds a truly evil twist. The drug is available to vets, and used to sterilise large animals. It would seem that rapists are now using it in conjunction with rohypnol, to eradicate the need for birth protection.
The effects of progesterex ARE NOT TEMPORARY- They are P*E*R*M*A*N*E*N*T! Progesterex was designed to sterilize horses. Any female who takes it WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO CONCEIVE.

Date rape

Just to let you know that you needn't worry about this - after doing some research I found out its a hoax.

Seems like some sicko must have been circulating a fake scare to frighten people.
Does make you just that little bit more wary, although I NEVER let my drink out of my sight and NEVER accept drinks from strangers anyway.

I just googled it

and apparently there is NO such drug available to vets or anyone else.

Fake

This drug does not exist. trust me

How do you know?

I might google it...

Shocked

It's incomprehensible how anyone could actually do that. What do they get out of it?
I heard about a really good initiative the Staffs olice force were doing, they're going into clubs testing people's hands fro drugs as they go in, then giving out plastic bottle tops girls can put on their drinks while they're on the dance floor, so they can keep hold of them.

this is a really scary issue that needs to be tackled.
lol be safe

Untrue

if you look this up on google you will see it is a load of rubbish. There is no such drug, for humans or animals. I don't know what type of idiot would think it funny to scare women about a serious matter like this!!!!

Untrue

I am in agreement with most people here why do people think that it is funny to make up such a rumour when women are generally scared of topics like this one. The person that has done this is very unemotional and could not have been thinking straight!who in their right mind makes stuff up like this?

Mother of teenage daughter, speaking from experience!

People make this stuff up because they care and don't want you to EVER forget the dangers out there. It's like the cigarette ads on TV, we all know smoking is bad for us but do we give up? No!, You hear about women being date-raped and as many of you said on this chat you watch your drinks etc, but i think you can never be too cautious in this matter and lets face it, it shocked and scared you all enough to check it out and re-evaluate what to do. If the article had just said 'Woman gang-raped by drug' would any of you have really taking the slightest bit of real interest or got on the internet to check it out? Or would you all have thought, 'Oh i never let my drink out of my sight and don't accept drinks from strangers'. To these people even your friends could be potential rapists (even women).

Fake hoax untrue

yes never let truth stand in the way of a good scare story.

does anyone remember the story of the boy who cried wolf?

this type of hoax draws peoples attention away from the fact that the majority of "date rapes" are actually caused by girls who drink to much and get into trouble due to over indulging-not druggings.

thats not to say it doesnt happen and we shouldnt be aware of it, but to diminish someones responsiblity by implying the only way this sort of thing happens is if a scary bad guy drugs you places (particularly) young girls at greater risk.

know exactly how much and what your drinking and there would be FAR less problems
