Bad breath

My hubby has bad breath - All the time!
He had all his teeth capped 3 years ago for erosion because they were pitted not rotten. He did not have bad breath then
Since then the problem is getting worse.

His diet is generally terrible, always was, apart from his evening meal that I cook and where I try to redress the balance with lots of veg, but he won't eat any thing but soft foods like mince, or sausages or chicken never steak. Equally he does not eat apples or hardly any fruit. He drinks gallons of orange juice and is also slightly overweight.
He periodically has bleeding gums.
He cleans his teeth at 8am with Sensodyne (useless toothpase IMO) , flosses and uses either Corsydol, Plax or Listerine mouthwashes. Occasionally he will use Pyroxyl - when I can get him to, and which works wonders on him.
He then has a diet rich in sweet and carbohydrate items throughout the day such as fruit loaf and chocolate bars, sandwiches and biscuits and diet coke. He does not clean his teeth again until after evening meal about 12 AM or 1 AM in the morning when he flosses and uses the mouth wash. He uses an Oral B electric toothbrush, i change the heads frequently.

He says he is doing everything he can, and goes mental when I mention the subject, but he wont go and see his dentist, because every time he does the dentist (NHS) seems to think there is nothing wrong with teeth or gums and dismisses the problem. I have tried getting him to clean his teeth after meals, to use sprays etc and to use the Pyroxyl, burt he is so resistant.
He comes from a fairly uneducated background where fussing over such things is thought to be sissy - I think!! We also live in an area of the country were poverty and poor dental hygiene is common place. I am a London girl quite modern in my approach to medical matters, and want t o get it "Sorted" as I do love him and this is a huge impediment to our relationship - he is a wonderful guy in all other ways.
Its such a pity.
I am also worried about the link with heart disease and dental plague, - his father died in his early 50s of heart attack.

Any suggestion ideas, tactics or should I just leave now !!!
